Anyone know how the interaction of online pledging and SFL works? I figured out how to tell people on the phone "aim $X of my SFL at the show," but that doesn't seem like a thing when clicking through from the playlist?

Odds are I am being dense.
  12:12pm John from Florham park:

Seriously Mary sounds good to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm doctorjazz:

Hello Mary and 100% of you listening out there! Like this Michael Veal track!
  12:15pm JakeGould:

@Ike: Whenever you hug someone nowadays, wrap your arms in paper towels, clench your fists — no open palms — and hug them. Then, using only your knuckles and/or elbows, push them away. Remove the paper towels and burn them immediately.
  12:16pm JakeGould:

Also, I work a block or so away from the Cardozo Law School where someone is now hospitalized because of Coronavirus. So I want to laugh and wash my hands utterly all the time.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Sounds like we need a phone app that reads "HUG," "HIGH FIVE" or "FIST BUMP" in large letters and you just hold up your phone in the general direction of the other person. That would help diminish germ transmissions.
Avatar 12:19pm Sem:

Hello, Mary of the bells, the 100%, the whatever it takes, the crisp, the clean, the even, and pledgers all.

  12:21pm JakeGould:

@βrian: This one guy got it from some guy in some law firm. And then his friends and families tested positive. And I work nearby and hope he didn’t walk near me and sneeze while I have been taking breaks.
Avatar 12:22pm βrian:

Re the practical advice of not touching one's face, how does one do that? When my nose or eye itches, I can't resist!
  12:23pm JakeGould:

@Ken: Whatever you do, see if your knuckles and/or elbow can work instead. Also, people are selling 2 packs of N95 face masks on the subway for $16 a pack. They usually go for $4 a pack.
  12:23pm John from Florham park:

@MW so many choices not enough time to stay awake:)
  12:24pm JakeGould:

@βrian: Some people touch their faces more often. Ever look at kids? They are disgusting and endlessly touching their cute little faces all the time.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, @Andrew! That was my Waterloo! Wait, does that mean the same thing in English?

How much does a Walkman cost, these days?
Avatar 1:55pm Roberto:

MINDFULNESS
Avatar 1:55pm northguineahills:

Biscuits were originally middle English for unleavened bread. By the time us colonists started to cook in the 17th c (in the south), it was literally leaven dough to go w/ gravy (which, was any broth), while in the 18th c in Britain, it came to mean somewhat sugary unleavened bread.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Andrew Waterloo:

You can buy discman type players that have a cassette to USB cable.
Avatar 1:57pm βrian:

Biscotti still use the twice-cooking method.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Andrew Waterloo:

also.. hurray!! prizes!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Handy Haversack:

You know, somehow I have never heard this. I have the LC tribute _I'm Your Fan_, with Geoffrey Oryema covering this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm doctorjazz:

Sony now has a Walkman named digital player (actually a line of them), that range from not too expensive to about $3k.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Email we just got says it was credited to "all of WFMU". But this first one was for you! Joe McG says he's reassigning it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Andrew Waterloo:

I think biscuits became something different in American south where the flour is much lighter
Avatar 1:59pm Mary Wing:

Congrats Andrew! In it to win it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm coelacanth∅:

is it baked twice? baked once, boiled once?

Avatar 1:59pm Mary Wing:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Handy Haversack:

Everyone focused on the biscuits and not the gravedigger.
Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Nick Name:

northguineahills: the majority of EPL matches on saturdays are always 3.30 pm , one or two maybe early morning or late evening. Never traditionally 6.30pm as stated by the gravediggers's biscuit expression

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Handy Haversack:

Maybe it's 6:30 in the Atlantic time zone, where the gravediggers of Greenland give up fruitlessly scrabbling at the permafrost and knock off to finally watch a little soccer and enjoy themselves.

  2:15pm Listener Robert:

This comments list is helping me reconstruct a strange event today. Last comment was 12:48 before I got undressed and into the shower. I was definitely dried off and back out by 1:17. A friend told me he was in the house calling to me during that interval. Bathroom door wasn't even closed. We neither saw nor heard each other. The interval of 12:48-1:17 is an overestimate of the time I was in there, because it took me a while to get undressed, and then a few to get back to the laptop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm coelacanth∅:

Mary (and Nick) please forgive me and don't take it personally, as i've pledged to both your shows in the past; but i've had to reduce my swag4Life amount this year so cannot spread my donation around as freely as usual...and decided to pledge only to shows i've never pledged to before.
i'm sure some show hosts will be offended but this unfortunately is my situation now. (i shouldn't have given as much as i did last year in fact but once i made the commitment i wasn't about to back out.)

Not a problem, coleacanth, I never take pledging-or-non-pledging personally; supporting WFMU is the overall goal, here!

@ListenerRobert: Thanks for the imagery, fella!
  2:45pm Listener Robert:

My friend said he left our friend's at 12:55, so he couldn't've gotten here before 1:05, but more likely 1:10. I do remember hearing a clunk as I turned off the water; that may have been his going out the back door, as he said he did, or closing his car door. I went out to get the mail, saw no sign of him. He may have been in the back yard yelling for me as I was getting dressed in a room that doesn't open on the back. Windows were all closed. Blinds were closed where I was dressing.

He's been in this house a few times, and described details that make certain he didn't enter the wrong house. He saw our other friend's dog sleeping.

Hubig (@2.21...i'm working, got called away to actually do that for a minute!)
you mean a 4-track reel>reel? if it works i'd buy it, if i could. i pulled one from a junk pile once when i was a teenager but never got it working right.
(...or was it a 4-track cartridge player from an old car. that would be very interesting; and almost useless!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Handy Haversack:

No prob, Nick! Glad to be a tiny part of it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm coelacanth∅:

hey spodiodi
Avatar 2:57pm Hubig Pie:

Coel, I guess 4-track refers to the recording process. I just recall that was the format on my parents Hi-Fi
Swag For Life Member 2:58pm spodiodi:

thank you Mary Wing and Nick Name!
Avatar 2:58pm Sem:

Thx, Mary and Nick!
Avatar 2:58pm Bas NL:

Thanks Mary and Nick!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm coelacanth∅:

usually it's 4 tracks in one direction which can be recorded to one at a time (reel-to-reel or cassette) but the precursor to 8-track cartridges was 4-track cartridges. same thing but mono.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Handy Haversack:

Nice one, Bas!
