Swag For Life Member 1:04pm spodiodi:

Mary Wing, yesterday on Das Continental Subway w/David Dichelle, there was some conversation about a show-specific icon for those who donate to their show. (forget which listener suggested, but BAM a Kenzo appeared, letting David know this was still a possibility for this marathon... i wonder if you could do the same, if you were interested (and don't already have one) AND if you haven't i wonder if the 100 emoji, or something like it, wouldn't suit your program.) B^B
Avatar 1:04pm Mary Wing:

Hmm, I like it, spodiodi!
Swag For Life Member 1:05pm spodiodi:

cool :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Carmichael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Carmichael:

loving this piano track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm brainiac:

My savage breast has been soothed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm coelacanth∅:

johnzo i don't know if there's some statistical usage of those stars (maybe Kenzo knows?)
but i don't care. i use them for my own purpose, which -in the case of songs it's to remember to explore an artist further, or to obtain a copy of that song for my own collection. (but then i rarely un-star it after doing the exploring)
in the case of episodes it's to remember to listen to that one again.
in the case of "favorite programs" it's fairly pointless, because some of them don't stick anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Phillippe Bastille:

Spodiodi, Handy Art, jewelry, and audio equipment are all I look for anymore. I've found some really nice art works for cheap because they don't know how to price them. Best so far was a signed and numbered Alexandre Minguet litho for $5 and a Csekovszky pottery piece for about the same. I really don't know much about art, except for what I like, but I do know how to google when I'm in the store...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Handy Haversack:

@coela, I think SMK does indeed look at clicky-star stats when making programming decisions, but I have no insight into what is and is not meaningful in that. I star episodes and shows because a flat list of songs I liked seems to overwhelming for me to process or make use of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Carmichael:

@brainiac, you missed the Mardi Gras parade last night.

Which reminds me that I haven't heard Japancakes in a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm coelacanth∅:

i average maybe one serving (1-3 pancakes) every few years. i definitely had pancake(s) twice last year.
i'm obviously heading down a dangerous road
Avatar 1:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& if I've no other distinction - I am surely thee WFMU Clicky Slut.
I just treat it like faceborg Likes really. For lack of any other form of applause...
Obviously they bookmark for you what you like - & signal this to others. They come up again preclicked on other Playlists - a good thing...
Avatar 1:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I always think I'll start being more exclusive with my clickystars - & only do it for my very very favorite trace - & that will have some actual utility ?? Then I just click everything I think is goid anyhow...An impulse for the interactive, obviously...
Avatar 1:52pm βrian:

Promiscuous clicky-ing increases your risk of ... well, something.

No, RevRab, I won't have it. Slut? No.no.no. Wanton, I can see. Immoderate, clearly. Profligate, goes without saying. But never a slut.

my keyboard just became a teaboard. rats.
Swag For Life Member 2:17pm spodiodi:

that's insanely cool, Webhamster Henry

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Handy Haversack:

Liked that one. It felt close to ... something.
Swag For Life Member 2:28pm spodiodi:

this one... also very nice. close to perfect

@coel 1:30: What favorite stars don't stick?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Howdy all. Great 3oaK, Mary!
Avatar 2:30pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@PB 1:54 Only 2000 favorite songs show up on your public profile page right now, for site performance reasons. But they're all stored and they still come into play elsewhere on the site besides your public profile page, and one day they'll all show up there, too.
Avatar 2:31pm Mary Wing:

Hiya Kevin!

The volume will be low for a few songs, sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm coelacanth∅:

been away from the visuals, working...but @1.54 yes i'll take credit for figuring that out, thank you! (and i think it was steveo ? who worked out the number...but i thought it was 2000)
and @1.48...never shamed a slut -clickystar slut or otherwise; as long as they're honest about it!

Once again I am very impressed with the chat in here, is it because of it only being a internet only stran that the discussions are better?

"Perfect As Cats" is a nice title for a The Cure tribute
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Webhamster Henry:

Kaki King is playing up here (Kinston) Feb 29th . She does a great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm WR:

This set has been a revelation for me. Not a Cure fan, nothing against them, they were just after my time and while I recognize their place in the flow of creative pop, haven't listened much to them. Very good song choice Mary, though its many interpretations sorta leads to it being the one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm coelacanth∅:

there it is yes i thought it was 2000.
so Kenzo i can't check right now but it's mostly drummer stream shows -i "favorite" them and then a week later they are not favorited; and the stars don't show up on the grid schedule.
(i know explorers room was one of them.
...i stopped caring and trying a year or 2 ago)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Phillippe Bastille:

@spodiodi 2:14 I haven't sold anything yet, though when retirement rolls around I may have to :/ If I'm not going to use it or display it, I leave it be. Those old sewing machines are cool -- we've found some old stuff that we liked and repurposed. Our bathroom vanity is a late 40s/early 50s tv cabinet, and we're using a couple old standing humidors for night stands
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Phillippe Bastille:

Thanks for the clarification on the number of songs available. At least I remembered it was a nice round number. That is progress.
Swag For Life Member 2:44pm spodiodi:

your place sounds cool, Phillippe. love the humidors as nightstands
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm coelacanth∅:

so yeah Kenzo reminded us that we can have the list emailed to our respective selves, which i just did because it's been a while.
'doesn't hurt
Avatar 2:47pm Sem:

Mining a motherlode of Close to Me covers, Mary. So hard to pick a favourite...so I'll avoid it. Thx for 3OAK, and the genial company. Seeya later, maybe in person in two weeks today, provided the country isn't shut down, down there. Buying some masks, will travel if possible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Handy Haversack:

I don't think I had heard anyone cover this song until today. Presumably because I'm a troglodyte.

Avatar 2:49pm Mary Wing:

Switching back to my laptop after this song, so the volume will get louder. Plan adjustments accordingly. The next one is really great!
  2:49pm John from Florham park:

@Coel did it yesterday a N d went through the songs I had and added a few of them to my Spotify list
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Phillippe Bastille:

@spodiodi Thanks. House is still a work in progress. When we bought it, the others interested in it were going to tear it down. Still a long way to go

βrian 1955. Not terribly old but it was built as a summer cottage, so it was pretty much slapped together. Built right on sand. In a small commununity outside of Annapolis
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Phillippe Bastille:

Thank you Mary! Loved it as always!
Avatar 2:57pm Roberto:

I'm starting to think "Close to Me" is the only song that's ever been written or recorded.
