Dutch beat, rock and pop, roughly between 1960 - 1980. We not only focus on shocking blue earrings washing up the sandy coast after tea, but we're also getting our shoes wet digging up nits from a kayak with our supersister

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm looking forward to some groovy goodness :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've just finished an excellent book about Radio Caroline and there's a lot in there about Radio Veronica etc. Really excellent read! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Jan Turkenburg:

title?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ray Clark "Radio Caroline: The True Story Of the Boat That Rocked" :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Jan Turkenburg:

Ah, I've heard of it! :-) Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've got about five more books about pirate radio on my "Next" list ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Jan Turkenburg:

:-)
Avatar 1:15pm Mr Fab:

'moning, y'all! Funny, "Blue Sofa' is the title of a great song by The Plugz, from the '80s. Who's have guessed that there were two different songs entitled "Blue Sofa"?
(Ok, it's not THAT funny..)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Mr. Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Mr Fab :-)
Avatar 1:18pm Mr Fab:

Hmm, i'm getting bad reception now. Maybe a streaming issue at my end. How's it sounding out there, folks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Sounding fine here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Jan Turkenburg:

stream out is not interrupted here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is a lovely version of Scarborough Fair :-)
Avatar 1:21pm Mr Fab:

Switched to a dif. device and sounds good now. Strange.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Is this the iPad that's having the comments issues? :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Jan Turkenburg:

I love the flute on this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Oooooooooooooooo - I do like good Gothic organ :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Gettin' proggy with it ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, I like to have a little prog in the middle of the show :-)
Avatar 1:28pm Martinibomb:

Hey Jan, Fab, DJ GG
Avatar 1:28pm Mr Fab:

No, it's not the ipad! Ha, I figured out the problem there - it needed to be updated, but there wan't enough room due to all the photos and videos I had on. Once i figured out how to move 'em off to a drive, i updated it, and voila, the comments appeared.
No, this is my laptop thats acting funny now.
(Ok, not THAT funny...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi MB! :-)
Avatar 1:30pm Mr Fab:

I like the line in that Earth and Fire song: "Midgets dancing above the lake' - very Spinal Tap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi MB!
Avatar 1:31pm Martinibomb:

My eyes have suddenly gotten much worse in the last few months. have to put my glasses on to read comments almost ... getting old I guess
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Jan Turkenburg:

Sorry to hear that MB!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I play trombone with my eyesight - glasses in, glasses waaay out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Jan Turkenburg:

:-)
Avatar 1:33pm worldsworstrecords:

Hey all. I can't connect to the pop up player. Any ideas?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm guessing Herman Brood is deceased? (The statue of him)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Darryl! :-)
This?www.radiorethink.com...
Avatar 1:34pm Martinibomb:

I did not know you played trombone! Love that instrument always wanted to learn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, Jumped of the Hilton ...
Avatar 1:34pm worldsworstrecords:

Ignore that... I've sorted it now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi WWR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jan - oh no!!! How awful :-(
Avatar 1:35pm worldsworstrecords:

Hey Jan, GG, MB, Mr F...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MB - metaphorical trombone. ;-) When you can't see very well so you move your glasses in and out to try and focus ... "playing trombone" :-)
Avatar 1:36pm Martinibomb:

Hahah! It's still early here ;-)
1:37pm Dave In St Albans UK:

Hi everyone. Love the show Jan. @DJ GeorgyGirl I have quite a few offshore/pirate radio books acquired over the centuries, literally:-) Ray Clark was nice enough to ask if he could use one of my photos of the Ross Revenge in the latest edition of his book. Well chuffed!
Avatar 1:37pm Mr Fab:

Dutch punk! Don't know if I've heard much of that. Cool stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Dave - hello!! That's fantastic!!! I shall have to pop round yours for a read of all your books :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I like all the details!
1:41pm Dave In St Albans UK:

To "pop round" is not enough to read my library of pirate radio related books. You would need a vacational visit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Dave!
Avatar 1:41pm Mr Fab:

ha ha, James Brown cover here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Dave - you'll have to put the kettle on then ;-)
1:44pm Dave In St Albans UK:

Hi Jan. I would buy an urn to brew all the tea 24/7 if it meant the whole Sheena crew would visit :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Rich in Washington:

I would love to hear an all Dutch punk show. Just throwing out seeds...
Avatar 1:45pm Mr Fab:

Yeah, Dutch punk is a new world to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Jan Turkenburg:

ah, well that can be arranged! Hi Rich!
1:47pm Dave In St Albans UK:

Count me in. Dutch Punk is a defite listen for me. So many goodies on WFMU especially Sheena I need longer days to enjoy it all.
Avatar 1:47pm worldsworstrecords:

Interesting stuff Dave: I picked up some radio London press releases recently while reserching my next book
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm making a cup of coffee in the Amsterdam mug that Chris brought me back last time he visited there :-) So I shall have a themed beverage :-)
1:49pm Dave In St Albans UK:

@WWR would love to see those press releases. My favourite station in the 60's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Dave - Kenny Everett and John Peel <3
Avatar 1:52pm worldsworstrecords:

I'll sort them out for you some time: I've mentioned the pirates quite a bit in my new book: I have a radio London/Brian Epstein press release and a programme from a tour they co-produced, Stars of '65 (IIRC)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Dave - I'd love a list of your books! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Otis:

Thanks for the tunes today Jan, keep on truckin'!
Avatar 1:56pm worldsworstrecords:

It will indeed!
Avatar 1:56pm worldsworstrecords:

Another superb show, Jan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Excellent show yet again, Jan! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Rich in Washington:

Wonderful show today, Jan! Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Rich in Washington:

Oh wow!
Avatar 1:57pm worldsworstrecords:

oh...excellent!
1:57pm Dave In St Albans UK:

I was a minor celebrity at school when I won a "Big L Club" disc of the week. Kenny Everett read out my name AND full address ( yes in those days they read it out in full) ! I won Jimmy Mack by Martha Reeves. Nice Factory Sample sticker on the label.
Avatar 1:58pm worldsworstrecords:

I have an old Radio London promo 45, celebrating their last broadcasts... sadly it's rather beat up
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Dave - I shall email you over the weekend. I feel a chat coming on :-)
1:58pm Dave In St Albans UK:

Great show. You are a Man of Action.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46am Jan Turkenburg:

And thank you John from the UK for the $60 pledge! I just saw it post show. Not used to the marathon console yet! I will certainly mention it in the next show!
