These tracks are from the soundtrack from an animated movie called 'Belladonna of Sadness'. Pretty trippy stuff, you can check it out on Youtube.

I'm guessing by the composer's name that the movie is an anime.

Yeah the Japanese animations have gotten much weirder since then, not trippier but crazier.

In an odd little cartoon-memory-connect prompt, "Savoir-Faire is everywhere!" (from Klondike Kat) reminded me to look up the name of the Beany and Cecil villain, Dishonest John, whose distinctive laugh was imitated by someone the other night.

But what about next week Larry? Did you figure that out yet or is it too early to know?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:21pm
Funky16Corners:

I'll be here next week. The week after that, the first week of the marathon I will definitely NOT be here as my son has surgery, but I should be here for week two of the marathon on 3/12 with a double-length show
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:21pm
Brian in UK:

One of my best experiences was have the plaster of paris wrapped round my broken leg from top of thigh to ankle. A real sensual feeling. Had to have it done three times. Felt kind of guilty enjoying it but what the heck after some swine had knocked me off the motorcycle.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:21pm
Funky16Corners:

Hey SBP, Geezerette!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:22pm

@Brian - I have only ever had one cast, after sledding into a concrete wall when I was about 12
Avatar 🥁 4:22pm
Erica:

Regular day and time next week then Larry? Thanks! And I wish your son luck with the surgery.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:23pm

@SBP - My sons loved Beany and Cecil when I downloaded some of them back in the day. I have to see if I still have the files

It can be harder for those waiting than those undergoing surgery. Especially if it is your offspring.

Yes indeed. THAT time goes VERY slowly
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
Funky16Corners:

@Erica - Thank you. He's not worried about it. We are.
Avatar 4:28pm
still b/p:

Exactly.
Hadn't heard that laugh in years, but it was a go-to thing for a while when we were kids.
I remember the characters' look, did see the cartoon when I was small, and we had them on some game or toy, but I recall nothing about the stories and sensibility of the show. Curious now.

Filip:

Good luck tomorrow!!! I do know that feeling. And I always tried to enjoy it....
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:30pm
Funky16Corners:

It's very Beat Generation-adjacent, at least in that they used it for comedic references. There's one where they go to an island and all the places in it are beatnik related
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:30pm
Funky16Corners:

Thanks Filip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
Franco Twinkie:

In about an hour I am going to see a friend who owns a record shop. One day I was upstairs where thy clean the records before they put them out and I found a couple of Hamton Hawes records. I told my friend about the time I saw him playing in the band shell at MacArthur park when I was a teenager. He told me how Hamptons ex-wife gave him the records and said "You can have them, I don't want to have anything to do with that motherfucker."
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
Funky16Corners:

@Franco - What era did you see him? Straight jazz, or electric piano funky?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm
Franco Twinkie:

The summer of 1974. Carol Kay was on bass. I don't remember who the drummer was.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:33pm
Funky16Corners:

That's cool! He led an interesting/troubled life
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm

@Geezerette - Yes, all of us will be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm
Franco Twinkie:

I loved that! People don't call it The Harbor Freeway anymore - they say The 110, which to me, is a good example why this time in history is such total crap. The words Harbor Freeway are so beautiful, just like Flying Saucer Attack.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:43pm

@Erica - Yeah, it's a movie. Pretty funny, too. There are a couple of cool Norman Whitfield things like this on the record
