Every chance I get, Tom Recchion! Glad you caught the spin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Scott Williams:

  12:50pm Brendan:

That was my first full Ace Cannon track. My only other exposure to the Ace was television commercial for his greatest hits way back on UHF tv. As I recall, his saxophone sounded horny....or saxy if you like. Come to think of it a saxophone player could play the Star-Spangled Banner and it would sound horned up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Handy Haversack:

@pseu, now I just picture the scene in Freaks and Geeks where what's his name tries out for a band, picturing himself as Peartianly skilled and with a kit ALMOST big enough ...

(Also the bit in Beyond the Gilded Stage where Alex Lifeson and Getty Lee talk about how their love of Neal Peart is much bigger than Rush could ever be, and then I get choked up again.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Webhamster Henry:

Hiya Scott. I'm bouncing between streams today.

can you play a Peart solo please?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Tome:

One I've been liking lately *Vapor Trails* !<>! , remember had a coopy o LeD Zep Prsence in my hand , guy in record story telling my how it sucked so bad ( got it anyway ) , then handed my 2112 ,, saying it was 10X I agreed back then <>
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Carmichael:

Yes, Mr. Apollo (C. Vermouth)!
  1:14pm JakeGould:

Their first LP without Neil Peart (the one with John Rutsey) is basically just a Led Zep wannabe LP.
  1:14pm Two Separate Gorillas:

Oh, I love this song.
  1:16pm JakeGould:

2112 is a great 1970s sci-fi thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Carmichael:

How come I can't clicky star the Tony song??
  1:17pm JakeGould:

@Carmichael: It might need an album or track name.
  1:18pm JakeGould:

Of all the nonsense that pre-teens can get into “Rush” is a fine thing.
Swag For Life Member 1:19pm dinatekno:

Thank you for playing Rush. They were not just the favorites of young boys. Many of us stoner chicks from the late 70's early 80's STILL listen to them. :-) RIP Neil Peart.
  1:21pm Brendan:

Been ODing on Rush after the shock of Neil’s passing. Totem stands out as a wonderful joyful bit of noise on the drums. The toms are so musical , and the way he plays with time on that song is f’ing awesome.
  1:24pm JakeGould:

Just empty spaces and beats.
  1:26pm Brendan:

Or digitally beat on and beat off. Gigity...
  1:28pm JakeGould:

If it weren’t for “Rush” I might have slipped into “Dungeons and Dragons.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm sphere:

Rush were a good set of blokes but i'm still not a fan outside of Freewill and Spirit of Radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Scott Williams:

I've added a song title to "Tony", so you can all go clickylike it now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Handy Haversack:

@JakeGould, as someone who still does both, there are worse fates.
  1:32pm JakeGould:

Well, if you could afford it… More power to you… Where I grew up a sign of suburban affluence was D&D. Those books and bags of holding don’t just buy themselves!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm karlward:

I glid all the time. Not sure what glid is, but whatever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Handy Haversack:

Huh. Dice, pencils, and time were the main needs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm sphere:

Rush and D&D had a significant overlap in my high school.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Carmichael:

Sorry, no Rush fan here. They were OK, but I never really went over the moon about them like a lot of my friends.

Avatar 1:39pm huomenta:

  1:39pm wendy del formaggio:

Television always gets me right in my heart, in a good way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm brainiac:

Notes on the Gong CD spelled it as "I Never Glid Before" The back of the LP sleeve spells it "Niver".
Thanks for playing it, Scott.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Scott with 1 W and al
i hope Michele is wel soon
-but it's good to hear you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm sphere:

That's a problem with being a music fan. You spend a good fraction of your energy being annoyed at certain bands and musicians and then they die, "de mortuis nihil nisi bonum" kicks in and suddenly you can only say nice things about them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Yes:

just walked back in to mukabe. wonderful
Avatar 1:47pm Malcolm:

this is a wonderful set
  1:48pm JakeGould:

@sphere: The thing about “Rush” is they were a band that really got a lot of excess grief from hipsters elitists. Then Neil Peart dies and suddenly everyone admits “Oh, yeah… I like Rush…” To me, everything they did from “Grace Under Pressure” onwards was not that inspiring personally. But the legacy they left before that? Man… That was a catalog.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm coelacanth∅:

i only get annoyed with artists i once liked. others i just try to spend no energy on.
(though i might be annoyed with people who play them in situations that must subject me to it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Yes:

so good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Handy Haversack:

Great set, Scott! (Great Scott -- set!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm coelacanth∅:

oh, rush. i've given it many chances, as i've known many people who liked it. some said listen to the first one. i did; it's good, not great. 2112 is good.

rest in peace Mr.Peart, a gifted drummer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm sphere:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Scott Williams:

Hiya, Joe! I agree.
Avatar 2:03pm Malcolm:

one of my favourite songs is 'jackie and edna' by kevin coyne. but beyond marjorie razorblade i've not checked out any of his other albums. any recommendations?
  2:05pm Brendan:

Early Rush overlapped with weed, thai sticks etc. ...saw 2112 or (Farewell To Kings?) tour at Warner Theatre, DC . Hemispheres in Baltimore was great. Fell out of favor in their keyboard phase briefly but started going back to their shows since Test For Echo in 97... there were some stinkers in there but Clockwork Angels was solid as a final effort , I thought. The Garden -as the last song on the last album may not be my favorite song of theirs but ln terms of songwriting it was a nice farewell from Neil.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm brainiac:

The Big Blood vocalist reminds me of Jarboe from Swans. That's a good thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm sphere:

Big Blood is a genuine certifiable wonderful thing in my book.
Avatar 2:08pm Davee:

Hi Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Handy Haversack:

Yeah, Rush's anni mirabili are still pretty mirabulous.

This is a killer way to finish an amazing set. Woo! Big Blood!

  2:19pm Brendan:

We can just flip the sonic compressor on its axis and compress the previous songs longitudinally instead of in their dynamic range. But be careful as the contents will be under pressure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Switchblade Batman:

If it's the first hit of 2020, wouldn't that be the first hit of the decade too?
Avatar 2:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The departure of Neil Innes inspired the deepest dive into Vivian Stanshall's furthest corners. That's a brain we need back on this earth... alas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Handy Haversack:

More crème for the crème wars, @βrian.
  2:25pm Rory:

This track is a hit!
Avatar 2:31pm βrian:
