The Blue Finger Cops were actual cops from Zwolle "Blue Finger Cops began somewhere in 1994 as a joke on an employee's party of the police force in Zwolle. Five police officers had rehearsed a few covers and they had an enormous success at the party. The band immediately received bookings to play at other parties. From that moment on they started rehearsing on a weekly basis and they kept performing a lot. Not only at wedding -and birthday parties but also at festivals and they even were a support act for the popular dutch dialect rockband "Normaal". Twice during "the international week of the police" they toured successfully through Hungary. At this moment the band has eight musicians and a sound engineer: all cops except one. This Demo which you can download here is not entirely representitive for the Blue Finger Cop sound of today. Songs keep changing and from time to time band members come and go. These are studio recordings from 2001. The songs are still being played, but with some slight different arrangements. "Blue Fingers" ("blauwvingers" in dutch) is a nickname for citizens of Zwolle. Once somewhere in history, the nearby town of Kampen paid reluctantly too high a price for second hand city bells from Zwolle. The money was delivered in Zwolle in large bags of small copper coins, which led to blue fingers when it was counted. |
