Portland is famous for Powell's (where I picked up the Browning), but I also visited Melville Books on Alberta, a very tiny store with a marvelous selection of used, fairly priced books. That's where I got the Dickens. And then I walked across the street to the Irish pub to read a bit over a pint. Also made it to Beacon Sound, a very cool record store in PDX. I left with a Xenakis Persepolis reissue on LP, an old America album, and Michael Muller's recent LP on the Beacon Sound label.
