With billows and blasts from choirs and orchesters
Buskers and talkers
Big bands and squawkers,
the Stork Club has retained its qualities of decaying elegance and dwindling significance since the late 1950s.

Hi Stork Club denizens! Great set. Really like the Maria Schneider Orchestra (she's playing I'm the New York area in about a week, for anyone around).

This is an excellent example of naive, improvised music. Also, I'm kidding. Love the particular mood that Reich's work creates.

@ParUbi: Last week I heard music that reminded me of Reich, in a good way. The first half or so of the set sounded like a process piece, with both phasing and accumulation, but personal and not at all the usual rehashing. She probably heard Reich, but made his ideas her own building blocks. Her name is Jessica Ekomane
