I believe he was initially planning to take a trip to India with Yokoo and continue his exotica-style projects, but Yokoo turned him on to krautrock and the whole thing sort of transformed – not that it's not exotica in a sense – after this, YMO is formed. Sakamoto and Sato are even on this one
