Sounded great on my end no hiccups
Avatar 5:04pm Mr Fab:

Hi Georgy! Hi melinda, MB & Mr Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I lost my show file and had to re-save it with the clock ticking down. A tiny bit stressful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Mr Fab! Hi Hopey! :-)
Avatar 5:07pm Martinibomb:

Rich and me just saw Goblin do live music for Deep Red
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Linda Lee:

here!! bravo Gallo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Linda Lee:

and Giallo! :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I have managed to miss them every single time .. lol. I talk about that later in the show ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Linda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Linda Lee:

so glad you're on air, GG. honestly! :-)
i know i'll love this show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's such lovely music given the genre! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Saw Goblin last November, it was awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Linda Lee:

italian work for film is generally just .. always .. superb, to me. maybe it's genetics! ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Italians do seem to have an almost supernatural knack for lush music :-)
Avatar 5:12pm Mr Fab:

I know a guy who was in a band called Niblog. They billed themselves as the world's only horror-movie soundtrack cover band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Rich in Washington:

It would be funny if we didn't know who was doing the music until the end...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Niblog!!! Genius!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Rich in Washington:

@Martinibomb: That was a fun show. Thanks again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Linda Lee:

they do. i just love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've managed to miss them twice in the UK - once in Brighton WITH John bloody Carpenter!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Linda Lee:

i'm just clicking the whole show right now. why wait? :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

LOL! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

You would genuinely never know that this was music for horror films, would you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Linda Lee:

no. it's magic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Linda Lee:

that has to be an italian thing! lush, exciting music for bloodbaths!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Note my joke ads this week ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Linda Lee:

i hear you :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

They're all from an infomercial for knives ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Rich in Washington:

I watched a Herschell Gordon Lewis film about how to carve meat last night. Literally about carving meat. With a young Harvey Corman.
Avatar 5:17pm Martinibomb:

Favorite horror books for younger readers? Any recommendations?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Linda Lee:

personally, i've just been reading about American political power structures ~ will find whatever you broadcast an immense pleasure & a relief.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Any and all of the Pan Books of Horror. I read those when I was eight. Which probably explains a lot. An the Alfred Hitchcock horror books.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Linda Lee:

just scan for misogyny, please, MB!
Avatar 5:18pm Mr Fab:

How young? My 9 year old likes the Goosebumps books.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

These shows are my escape from Brexit! ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Linda Lee:

there's got to be relief. :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My daughter used to like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark :-)
Avatar 5:20pm Mr Fab:

Oops, Sheena jumped in there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Rich in Washington:

@Martinibomb: Baleful Beasts and Eerie Creatures, a collection of short stories. I had it as a preteen and recently found it at my parents house and now have it again. The stories were really well written and scary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Linda Lee:

behave, Sheena!!
Avatar 5:20pm Martinibomb:

That Pan book series is cool all the greats writing in it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My daughter just said Point Horror when she was slightly older
Avatar 5:21pm Mr Fab:

Li'l Fab (& I) just watched the NEW 'Are You Afraid of the Dark' series!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Linda Lee:

hahah! a giallo film title generator!
Avatar 5:21pm Martinibomb:

Thanks everyone! @Linda agree!! @Rich that book is on archive.org coooL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Rich in Washington:

My kids really liked the whole Goosebumps series.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Linda Lee:

hey! found the generator! www.braineater.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Here you go: www.braineater.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Linda - mind meld!!!! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Linda Lee:

and yet again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Rich in Washington:

yeah. The stories all involved and were geared towards preteens, which is when I read it. They're really well-written. I just remember the stories really leaving an impression on me. They're also not shy to lean towards the occult, in a way that I think a book for young readers wouldn't be nowadays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Linda Lee:

just love this track *and* the title! 'Future Love Space Party'!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Everybody remembers the same four or five Pan stories. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This Antoni Maiovvi album is fabulous - all for an imaginary Giallo film :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm Rich in Washington:

one of the nice things about my mom running a bookstore as a kid was that we always had interesting books in the house.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Rich in Washington:

I also learned how to read paperback books carefully so the spine wasn't cracked, so we could preview books before they hit the shelves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Here's the film I got:
The Snow Leopard with One Red Eye
Directed by
Nanni Nonni

A dancer finds a human torso which has been hacked up in the style of a killer who has been dead for many years. Her friend investigates the crime; and after decoding entries in a hidden journal, she discovers that the presumed victim, the dancer, has faked the entire crime... and is now desperate to make sure the truth stays hidden.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Your mum had a bookstore? that's fantastic! They would have been my dream playground as a kid :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. That Giallo title generator is quite fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Linda Lee:

Nanni Nonni! :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

And the titles are pretty accurate ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Rich in Washington:

She didn't own it, but rather ran it for the owner after the allure of being a businessperson wore off. It only lasted four years or so, but so much fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I love the smell of old books - there was a scientific study whch said that as paper decays it releases the same scent as breast milk, which is why we find old books so comforting :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Linda Lee:

honestly?
that's too perfect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's wild, isn't it? :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Linda Lee:

*very* wild. i can't see how..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's a component of vanilla apparently
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Linda Lee:

is this the main theme for Franco Franco's "The Red-Stained Knife Glints Menacingly in a Woman's Hands"?
or Stefano Stefani's "A Killer with Teeth of Glass"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Rich in Washington:

Old bookstores have a distinct smell, as do new bookstores. I still love the smell of a new book. Books were my refuge through most of my preteen and teenage years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Linda Lee:

i can actually associate new books with vanilla more..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

music to huff books by—howdy GG and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Rich in Washington:

I remember Powell's Books in Portland being the first place I encountered the aroma of hundreds of thousands of old books along with the smell of espresso. Just magic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Rich in Washington:

Ha! Granny! I'd buy that record!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi GST!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Linda Lee:

that had to be wonderful, Rich!
hi Granny! :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I do love a bookstore/coffee shop combo :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

Rich: Portland was way ahead of the rest of the world for combining old books and fresh coffee. MMMmmmm!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Linda Lee:

brilliant concept. a sure win!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I can't find the exact article I read, but this is interesting: www.sciencehistory.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Rich in Washington:

I haven't been to Powell's since they gutted the small press/Zine section. It was an end of an era for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

At Foyle's in London they sometimes do jazz recitals in the cafe :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

And now Portland doesn't even have Reading Frenzy anymore. :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I love the convenience of a Kindle, but you can't replace a physical nook
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

Linda Lee! [secret lesspeeyun handshake]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Nook?? BOOK. lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Them lesspeeyuns again ;-)
  5:40pm melinda:

I’ve never been to a bookstore than had both old books and coffee, sounds wonderful. I have happy memories of Half-Priced Books stores and their old book aroma. I think employees took smoking breaks in the can because it always smelled of it, but even that I remember somewhat fondly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Linda Lee:

Granny! (hearty, soft butch secret shake back)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I can quite happily wile away an entire afternoon with only coffee and some books and a good window seat in a cafe :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is my local cafe and I adore it :-) presuming-ed.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Linda Lee:

gosh, would i love that kind of opportunity. there's nothing like that in a 50 mile radius of where i am.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Linda Lee:

this is why i plan to move.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Rich in Washington:

@melinda: If you're ever in Portland, I recommend visiting Powell's. It's become a tourist destination, but there's something about sitting in their cafe after perusing the endless, labyrinthian aisles of books that for me is a real Portland experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

And it's sister cafe in town - www.themarwood.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Rich in Washington:

That looks fantastic, GeorgyGirl! I wish I had something like that nearby.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Goblin alert! :-)
Avatar 5:45pm Martinibomb:

Profondo Rosso love that bass
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The chap who runs both, also called Richard, is one of my favourite people in the world :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Presuming Ed does open decks once a month as well :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Linda Lee:

i see DJs on Friday at Marwood! how's that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I haven't live DJed in about two years and am currently building my courage up ;-)
  5:46pm melinda:

Extra caffeine tends to make me more prone to buying things, getting people cranked on coffee in a retail store makes business sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Total sense!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Linda Lee:

what's the genre they like (aside of 'music to huff books by')?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

They have a pretty eclectic playlist - everything from loungecore through hip hop to indie and oldies really.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

They had a guy doing Italian soundtracks once a month at Presuming Ed funnily enough
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Linda Lee:

nice! so .. Dj's choice?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Linda Lee:

that would get me to Presuming Ed for sure.
just have to start drinking coffee again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The open decks definitely! You sign up for a slot (which I think is about half an hour) and then they schedule you on the Sunday once a month.
  5:50pm melinda:

@Rich I would definitely go there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Rich in Washington:

I also haven't DJ'd live in years. I wish I could find a chill place that's open to really peculiar records - I mean not the stuff I'd play on my shows, but still...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Linda Lee:

great!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

They do fabulous sandwiches and cakes there as well ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Linda Lee:

all right then. i'm picking up the coffee habit again before i get to Brighton. it's been ten years! that's enough! :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Live DJing is a scary animal! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I drink decaff so you're in good company :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Linda Lee:

what's the worst bit?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Of live DJing? Nerves, people looking at you, fear of fucking up ... fear of people hating what you're playing ... drunk people knocking into your stuff. But it's also a HUGE buzz. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Linda Lee:

takes a little chemical support to manage it, seems like. or it would me! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Like, if you were all here and I was playing this live to you I'd be terrified but also really happy because I could see your reactions :-)
  5:54pm melinda:

@GG that cafe looks like my kind of place
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@melinda - it's just the best. And they have a garden space out the back for the summer :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Linda Lee:

wouldn't it be fine to post pix in comments! then you'd see me smiling now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Linda Lee:

i just love this stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I dd manage to remember what it was in the end ... ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Linda Lee:

did you? i missed it! Suspiria?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That's the one :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Linda Lee:

i can still remember the radio ads for Suspiria when it was released. Sussss peeeeeerrrr eeee yaaaaa...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Sometimes in the talking bits you can hear the precise moment where my brain seizes up completely ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Linda Lee:

no, can't hear it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My daughter HATED Suspiria because she said the Goblin music was too loud. And I said: "WHO ARE YOU? What have you done with CJ??" lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm Linda Lee:

ahahahaa!!!
  6:01pm melinda:

@GG the back deck looks wonderful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's a real sun trap in the summer :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm Linda Lee:

oh my. marvelous.
that sounds so beautiful now that our days are chilly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

You've all inspired me to take a day out this week and treat myself to coffee and a book there :-) I shall post pictures :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I mean ... I'm not going to sit outside because it's pouring with rain at the moment, but you know what I mean :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Linda Lee:

i simply must relocate to a neighborhood with a bookstore/cafe'!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Linda Lee:

yes, post pix please!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That's why I like going to places like Berlin - lots of amazing cafes where you can sit outside and watch the world go by :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Linda Lee:

yes, you're a people watcher! i enjoyed that too, in new york.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I would LOVE to do that in New York!!! And I'd love to go to Portland :-) I have a feeling I'd take to Portland ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Linda Lee:

a bar there, in the east village, had second story floor-to-ceiling windows facing the main avenue. that was nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That sounds absolutely GORGEOUS
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Linda Lee:

called 2A, i think it was.
the nice thing about that you're in a gritty neighborhood, but no one's actually puking on the sidewalk in front of you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

That's one of the nice things about urban living, people watching at cafes & bars :) I do it all the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My friend Shane and I used to make up back stories for the people we saw walking by :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Linda Lee:

of course! who can resist!
found a picture of the bar at night! www.bing.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Is that the cafe from Nelson Sullivan's video??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Linda Lee:

no, that's up the street a few blocks. Avenue A bar & restaurant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Linda Lee:

they're one after the other on Ave A. even moreso now, likely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Aha! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Linda Lee:

oh gosh yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I also didn't see Ennio Morricone on his retirement tour because the tickets were upwards of £100 :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Linda Lee:

oh gosh. that would be a bit of a stretch for me, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Linda Lee:

we hear the music as it should be heard, though, really.i wouldn't feel to bad about it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Plus, it was in London so I'd would have needed to add on train fare, food, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Linda Lee:

right, of course.
your private car with driver isn't always available. i understand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Linda Lee:

adore this Morricone track. gorgeous!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Wouldn't that be fabulous? :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Linda Lee:

beautiful for nightlife!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My daughter just said "Ooo. This is epic" and I said that it was Morricone. And she nodded and said "Of course!" and smiled. :-)
Avatar 6:23pm spacebrother:

Listening while I set up my show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Linda Lee:

smart girl. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

And she made me a cup of tea as well :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Greg! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Linda Lee:

how sweet of her!!
Avatar 6:24pm Martinibomb:

Whoa! Got me with this choice what film was this used? Cocco Secco?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

She said it was because she was proud of me for not completely freaking out earlier ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Ooooo, this Cocco Secco is very groovy :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

yeah! YEAH!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Linda Lee:

did something happen? i missed it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Not 100% sure it's in a film - some of the tracks are Giallo soundtrack artists but not necessarily Giallo soundtracks if that makes sense ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I first heard this on one of those Mo'plen compilations back in the 90s :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Linda Lee:

this could be music for a commercial .. for .. something!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Linda - I lost my show file so had to re-save from the raw file and the time was ticking down in the background ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Linda Lee:

oh lawd!
glad it worked out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Rich in Washington:

That was a great track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I was literally setting everything up and went to load the file ... except the file wan't there. EEK! That was fun ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Linda Lee:

wow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Rich - this is the album I first heard it on: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

That album looks pretty fabulous!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Hopey - that whole series is fantastic :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Linda Lee:

you're really not doing too badly with the italian, dear!
it's Georgy "Girl'!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Linda Lee:

did i win?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Brownie points to Linda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Linda Lee:

yay!!! :-)
i had an unfair advantage, though. raised by immigrants. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I was on a British horror films forum years ago and we had a conversation about what our name would be if we were a Giallo director. My nickname has been Georgy since school ... so I added the girl in Italian ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Linda Lee:

brava!! it's a great name!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Linda Lee:

i won't pry farther about 'Georgy' ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Wouldn't it be hysterical if I did one of those DNA tests and found out that I actually was Italian? lol. My ancestry.com suggests otherwise, mind you. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The Georgy comes from my love of The Beatles and George being my favourite :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Linda Lee:

other lives, maybe. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Linda Lee:

ah!! that's great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Linda Lee:

ancestsry is so wild.. apparently my ancestry moved to Italy from Pakistan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

For the longest time I was just "George" and then it got changed into the more affectionate Georgy :-) I definitely suit being a Georgy :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

From Pakistan to Italy? That's a trek!! Was that a military thing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Linda Lee:

we should all have names that suit us.
Georgy is better than George, i think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Linda Lee:

about pakistan, i don't know! could be trade, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Of course! Yes - silk and spice routes and all that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I am *obsessed* with the ancestry thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Linda Lee:

that's from long before Italy was unified, too. don't know how they worked out the military.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Linda Lee:

my great grandmother was *very* dark skinned & my mother, also, was dark.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is my 15 x grandfather :-)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Linda Lee:

it was cool to find out about the mideast connection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Linda Lee:

wow!!!! an amazing man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It astonished me how utterly brave our ancestors were - that they undertook these extraordinary journeys across the world without knowing what was at the other end.
Avatar 6:42pm spacebrother:

"Caravan" is one of my favorite songs. This version is the best!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Rich in Washington:

This is the funkiest Caravan EVER!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Caravan has to be one of the most covered lounge/exotica records, I think. It's just so fabulous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Rich in Washington:

OMG, spacebrother! Do you collect Caravans?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Linda Lee:

yes, re bravery. that's right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Linda Lee:

montenegro is *very* funky!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Rich in Washington:

yeah, when I first got into exotica/lounge thrift store records, I started noticing how it was such a standard. I sort of wanted to make a compilation of all of them. I am sure someone has and probably a better job than I could.
Avatar 6:44pm spacebrother:

@ Rich - I think so. I may have a few. Haven't checked in awhile.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I have one ancestor who took his wife and children from Streatham in London to Massechusetts. That must have been *terrifying*.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Linda Lee:

that synth is fabulous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Funky Caravan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I have a memory of someone doing a Caravan compilation on the Exoticaring ...
Avatar 6:45pm Mr Fab:

How did I not know this version?! Yep, many "Caravans" in the Sheena stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Speaking of funky!
Avatar 6:46pm spacebrother:

Looks like I have 12 versions.
Avatar 6:46pm Martinibomb:

get fun okay?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

What's your favourite version of Caravan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Linda Lee:

i have a little second hand info on that trip, as it was in the early 20th century. it was uncomfortable ~ and long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Linda Lee:

people sickened and died on it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Life must have been shit in London to make that journey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Linda Lee:

there was *so* much hope for something better ~ & very little opportunity to find out what it was really like on the other side of the journey!
Avatar 6:50pm spacebrother:

I have just updated my playlist to include my favorite version. By Takeshi Terauchi and the Bunnys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My ancestor ended up dying in Salem - not for THAT reason luckily! - and one of his daughters came back to London and continued the family line in the UK. But ... I've probably got relatives in the US which is very exciting :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Looking forward to that!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Linda Lee:

i'm sure you do ~ & now it might be possible to find them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Wow - nearly at the end of the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Stop Hitting Yourself is next! :-)
