I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm chresti:

Hello Vertigo Players and Mayuko!!
Avatar 12:01pm JosephB:

Hey Mayuko and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm chresti:

Nice long handle on Bochao.
  12:02pm Katsuko:

VAR is a joke; Deli Ali clear handball.
  12:03pm Jesse k:

I was zoning out with the stream on and suddenly it’s noon. Hi Mayuko!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Mayuko, Bochao and Playverts
Avatar 12:11pm Mayuko:

Welcome to my pumpkin patch, all! Thanks for tuning in!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm fred:

  12:14pm rw:

Good morning! Bochao is very cute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Dropof Goldensun:

I hope the Great Pumpkin shows up!! Greetings Mayuko and Listenerd gang!
Avatar 12:14pm Mayuko:

@fred Bochao is for electronic sauciness!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm coelacanth∅:

i obtained a pumpkin yesterday, but i shan't be naming it or forming any kind of bond with it. i know it's destiny and it's not pretty.
Avatar 12:15pm Mayuko:

Good morning rw! Bochao is a good looking pumpkin with a nice long handle!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Dropof Goldensun:

I bought a pumpkin for my doorstep but squirrels have been devouring it!
Avatar 12:17pm Sem:

Hiya, Mayuko, the Vertigo dedicated, and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm coelacanth∅:

try spreading dog hair around it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm chresti:

A squirrel carved pumpkin!
  12:20pm rw:

The long handle on Bochao kind of reminds me of a little kid with a mohawk. Or extra large ears or somehting.
Avatar 12:23pm Mayuko:

That is a WAR, Dropof!!!!!!! Now I realize I might have to protect Bochao from NYC critter citizens too!
Avatar 12:25pm Mayuko:

@coel Thanks for tuning in! Can cat hair help too? Otherwise I'll have to ask Bella the dog from Florida living downstairs.
Avatar 12:26pm Mayuko:

Thanks for tuning in, my radio family Sem!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm chresti:

Maybe if you paint features with peanut butter, the critter will carve it for you
  12:27pm rw:

Okay, I gotta head out. Mostly wanted to check in, say hello. Have a good weekend everyone!!
  12:28pm rw:

chresti is a genius.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Dropof Goldensun:

I have a dog so I suppose I could have tried that but now it would entail buying another pumpkin. It's really too late for the current one. The thing is, we have a literally thousands of acorns covering just about everything om several oak trees. This is enough for the squirrels?! Don't they eat acorns?
Avatar 12:29pm chocolate monk:

hey Mayuko. hope yr braw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Granny Spicy Tuna (they/them):

now where DID i put my fucking mind? Howdy, Mayuko! Hi, everyone!
Avatar 12:29pm JosephB:

See ya rw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm fred:

@Dropof: They store acorns because these won't spoil over the winter. A pumpkin would, so they eat it now
  12:31pm rw:

Joe!! Didn't see you there. Have a good one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Dropof Goldensun:

I looked up some recipes to spray on your pumpkin to avoid the munching but a friend tried one and it only helped a little. My neighbor spray paints them with clear coat and that seems to work very well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Dropof Goldensun:

Thanks fred! I myself would do the same thing I suppose!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm chresti:

See you rw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Dropof Goldensun:

OMG! I love the Gang of Four!!! Thank you thank you thank you!
Avatar 12:38pm Mayuko:

@chocolate monk Hiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 12:39pm Mayuko:

Thanks for tuning in Granny spicy tuna!!!!! That's a question for many of us!
  12:40pm Rickwaukee:

"He spoke FRENCH!" -Steve Martin
Avatar 12:40pm Mayuko:

@Dropof PUMPKIN PATCH OF KILLER TUNES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 12:40pm Sem:

"The French have a word for everything."
-Steve Martin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm fred:

I saw Fuji-Yuki this week.A great set. And I got the Seito record there and got her to sign it. Maybe I can get the other six (especially Kakushin Nishihara)
Avatar 12:43pm Mayuko:

What is this Steve Martin person?!?!?!?!?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm paul b:

When the singer in Gang of Four sings "there may be oil under Rock-all" in Ether he is singing about the place where William Golding (Lord of flies) set his novel Pincher Martin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm fred:

@Sem: Hyperculte are probably Swiss
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm chresti:

haha Sem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm WR:

Hello Vertigo-ites pumpkin fans. My landlord has put his two largest fruits of his garden in the hall. For scale the floor boards are about 4" wide. flic.kr...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm chresti:

Steve Martin is a funny man
  12:46pm Rickwaukee:

One might say he's a guy who is both Wild and Crazy
Avatar 12:49pm Sem:

So it seems @ fred:
Hyperculte is a minimalist transpop prekraut postdisco duo band. Hyperculte was formed in 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Doug Schulkind:

Another beautiful Saturday with a Play Vertigo!
  12:50pm Rickwaukee:

Nah, I'll take Frisco over Foetus any day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Dropof Goldensun:

I hope to get over to the art auction tonight at a reasonable time if I can get out of my dungeon on time today. Anyone else going to be there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm WR:

Mayukp, we assume you can find some Steve Martin on you tube. For now know he was existential silly man who has retired to be a banjo player.
  12:59pm Rickwaukee:

Actually, *pushes up glasses* Mr. Martin has been touring the past year making the funny along with Martin Short
  1:00pm Rickwaukee:

but, yes, he has gone hard with the bluegrass in his later career
  1:01pm P-90:

Belated Greetings, Mayuko and Vertigang
  1:02pm P-90:

A “pumpkin-Kami”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm fleep:

The pumpkin should really throw a towel over that thing. Good morning, Mayuko and vertiginists
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm WR:

LOL. Parking lot pumpkin piles.
  1:06pm Rickwaukee:

I bought "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" on DVD because they have started cutting parts out to make room for commercials - GOOD GRIEF
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm listener james from westwood:

  1:13pm Rickwaukee:

Maybe it's weird, but I dig a congested woman. It's sort of like high heels, if you think about it the right way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm fred:

My pledge initially wasn't credited to your show because of either a bug or Mark Hurst, I'm just happy Joe McGasko could fix that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm listener james from westwood:

Yessssss for "Rainbow"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm fleep:

Thank you for Terry Riley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm fred:

What james said!
Avatar 1:19pm Mayuko:

@WR Those are ginormous!!!!!!!!!! I saw some huge pumpkins at the pumpkin "patches" too - wondering why they had to grow so big.
Avatar 1:20pm Mayuko:

Belated hi to paul b, and Doug!!!!!!!!
Avatar 1:20pm Mayuko:

& Hellos, P-90 and fleep!!! Thanks for tuning in!!
Avatar 1:22pm Mayuko:

Ma pleasure! re Terry Riley
Avatar 1:22pm Mayuko:

Have to find out what this Steve Martin person all about on youtube!!!!!
  1:22pm rw:

Mayuko!! Thank you for the shout-out. Caught half the mic break in the car. You're right about the pumpkin patches. It's a lie!! Such is city life. Also... I was in a small art gallery one time a little bigger than my living room when Steve Martin walked in. I gave him a nod that said "Hey, you're Steve Martin!" He gave me a nod back that said, "Yes, I know. Nice to meet you!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm ParUbi:

Love me some Terry Riley
Avatar 1:23pm Mayuko:

@fred thank you & sorry for going through that trouble! seems like still there're a few glitches in the pledge system.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm fleep:

And then the fake pumpkin patch turns into a fake Christmas tree farm.
  1:25pm rw:

And I'm out again. Thanks Mayuko for all the Vertigo. It takes real commitment. We all appreciate it. Bye again everyone!! Have a great Saturday wherever you are!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm WR:

The pledge credit stuff is confusing. I was glad I could select several of the programs that I like but then confused to see "S.B. Boomer: Year-End Fundraiser 2019" on my profile. Have not yet figured out what S.B. Boomer is, but the shows I intended to support have done shout outs so whatever.
Avatar 1:25pm Mayuko:

@rw Thank YOU!!! Have a great rest of the weekend!!!!!!
Avatar 1:27pm Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee there's always a right way to look at anything if you try enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Dropof Goldensun:

I'm thinking saying "Look sweetheart, there's a nice pumpkin morgue!" wouldn't be quite as pleasant. Even though pumpkin patch is a lie! hahaha
Avatar 1:28pm Mayuko:

@ParUbi This track's EUPHORIA!!! (& thanks for tuning in!!)
  1:28pm melinda:

Hi people
Avatar 1:28pm Mayuko:

@WR can S.B. Boomer possibly be the name of your pumpkin?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm WR:

Oh my, has it really been 50 years since this Terry Riley came out. (Yes I am old)
Avatar 1:31pm Mayuko:

@Dropof Truth often hurts!
Avatar 1:31pm Mayuko:

Welcome on board, melinda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm chresti:

WR, I agree, confusing@1:25
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm fred:

@WR: Could that S.B Boomer title be related to pledging to Sheila B's Sophisticated Boom Boom?
Avatar 1:32pm TDK60:

Hi Mayuko. I absolutely love this old Terry Riley. I still have the original LP edition. Several years ago I DJed at an art show. Some people asked me what it was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Dropof Goldensun:

@Mayuko True! (ouch)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Doug Schulkind:

@WR: If you ever have any question with your pledge, send an email to the friendly Joe McGasko at WFMU. He will explain everything: jmcgasko (at) wfmu (dot) org.
Avatar 1:34pm Mayuko:

Oh! S.B. Boomer must be "Sophisticated Boom Boomer"!!! so you either Sheila or Pete's fan.
Avatar 1:35pm Mayuko:

@fred great mind think a like! (recently learned engilsh expression)
  1:39pm JakeGould:

Hey Mayuko!
Avatar 1:40pm TDK60:

I was pleasantly surprised to hear Stereolab is reissuing their albums.
Avatar 1:40pm Mayuko:

Welcome on board, TDK60! That track must have been perfect for an art show! I imagine it would put you in the right place of your mind to be immersed in art.
Avatar 1:41pm Mayuko:

Hola, Jake!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm WR:

@Fred, you could be right. @Doug, not worried about the details in my profile as long as GTD stream and the shows get credit for the donation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm listener james from westwood:

Lovely Stereolab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm fred:

I met a young composer at work because of the T-shirt I was wearing. For once it wasn't WFMU, but Nisennenmondai. Turns out he was in a band that opened for them 5 years ago. Are they still active?
  1:43pm JakeGould:

@TDK60: Well, as much as I like Stereolab, I think the vinyl reissues are a bit silly and fauxstalgic. Stereolab was primarily a CD band.
Avatar 1:43pm Mayuko:

@WR so that's okay for us to consider you as Dead or Alive fan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm chresti:

haha Mayuko@1:28!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, folks. Checking in before the end.
  1:45pm JakeGould:

He likes the Shangri-las.
  1:46pm Rickwaukee:

Vinyl is a bid to keep a toe hold in DJ scene (also Hipsters) but I hear DJs are going digital for the most part RIP
Avatar 1:46pm Mayuko:

@Jake People want vinyl and the band can make money! WFMU Radio needs it too!!!!!!!!!!! We'll give you pumpkins in return! in addition to t-shirts and stuff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm fred:

@Mayuko: That's weirdly specific and out of left field. Do you know the literal version? www.youtube.com...
Avatar 1:48pm Mayuko:

Welcome, Ken!! May a real pumpkin patch be there with you in Hyde Park!
  1:48pm Rickwaukee:

Keith Emerson owned this record
Avatar 1:49pm TDK60:

Mayuko - that T. Riley was already so old during the art show, and it still caught folks' curiosity.
  1:51pm melinda:

I’m in a mad rush to clean and pack stuff and the tunes are helping me maintain momentum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm chresti:

Everything old is new again
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm WR:

Shangri-Las yes, brit pop band Dead or Alive, not so much. Unless there is another Dead or Alive reference that I am not getting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm fleep:

Unless you're in a pumpkin morgue
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm fred:

The sound reminds me of EEK and Islam Chipsy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm coelacanth∅:

i live in real pumpkin patch territory, but still they go and cut them all free of the vines and uncover them so the consumers can go "pick" their own without breaking a nail or getting dirty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm coelacanth∅:

i'd never heard of "dead or alive". now you guys have ruined that.
  1:55pm Rickwaukee:

@coelacanthO lawyers (sorry, lawyers)
  1:56pm Katsuko:

..the legend of Mayuko continues.
  1:56pm Katsuko:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm chresti:

Listening to wfmu and other places has offered music discoveries that I had missed on the first (or second) go-round
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Michael 98145:

Thank you again, Mayuko
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm chresti:

Thanks Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Mayuko!
  1:58pm Rickwaukee:

hear that, Madison? HA HA HA HAAAAA
Avatar 1:58pm JosephB:

Thanks again Mayuko! I agree about Milwaukee (sorry Madison listenerds)!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm coelacanth∅:

chresti are you saying dead or alive is worth checking out?
that spoof video gives me the impression it was just another unbearable 80s synthpop group.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm fleep:

Thanks, Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm fred:

Thanks Mayuko, thanks Bochao
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks, Mayuko! WFMU is a better place for you and your show being part of it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm WR:

@coelacanthO, yes like @Rick said, lawyers. Decades ago my mom cut herself requiring emergency room stitches when doing corn pick yourself. No lawyers stuff happened but that was back in the day in small town Texas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm chresti:

no @coel, do not know it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Dropof Goldensun:

Thanks Mayuko! Thanks Bochao with the Long Handle! Have a great week everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm WR:

Bye bochao!
  2:01pm Rickwaukee:

Again, the shortest 2 hours in all of time. THank you!!
Avatar 2:04pm Mayuko:

@Rickwaukee just because *I* been there myself and loved the local beer.
Avatar 2:06pm Mayuko:

@coel those pumpkin "patches" are enablers! They should teach people REALITY!!!
