I would not go so far as to say it was a hit, but I remember Witchi-Tai-To getting a lot of mainstream airplay back during the Nixon Administration.

Disco 7” singles are what kids could afford. Like actual kids. My first two singles were “The Night Chicago Died” by Paper Lace and “That’s the Way I Like It” by KC and the Sunshine Band. $25 each from some teen selling her stuff on the street back in the 1970s.

Wow Jake! And here I've imagined you to be a crabby old man like myself. You a young sprout!

I liked the line in the Sylvester biography: "It wouldn't have been surprising to hear that a disco version of the Mourner's Kaddish was on the way, or that Mrs. Betty Ford was working on an album"

uh, i would like those records please
  8:38pm
Larry Ozone:

This music is on the pop and funk side of Disco. If you want to hear some real disco, try "Magic Bird of Fire", "Devil's Gun", "Don't Leave Me This Way", "Born to Be Alive", Love and Kisses, Franz Jolie, Beautiful Bend, early Donna Summer, "Midnight Love Affair" - Carol Douglas
  8:38pm
JakeGould:

“This music is on the pop and funk side of Disco.” And it’s great!
  8:39pm
Larry Ozone:

Just a reminder that Disco was banned on WFMU. The first disco song played on WFMU was "Lucky" by Donna Summer.

@Larry Ozone: You were WFMU’s disco pioneer back in the day — which didn’t make you too popular with some here, I understand.
  8:41pm
Larry Ozone:

More Disco Classics - "SuperNature" by Cerrone, "You Make Me Feel Mighty Real" - Sylvester, "Menergy" among the other greats by Patrick Cowley.

I wasn't allowed to like disco in my 70s hippy crowd but now I'm free at last
