Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm Franco Twinkie:

I would not go so far as to say it was a hit, but I remember Witchi-Tai-To getting a lot of mainstream airplay back during the Nixon Administration.
  8:08pm queems:

oh wow, what a jam!!!
  8:09pm JakeGould:

Disco 7” singles are what kids could afford. Like actual kids. My first two singles were “The Night Chicago Died” by Paper Lace and “That’s the Way I Like It” by KC and the Sunshine Band. $25 each from some teen selling her stuff on the street back in the 1970s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm Franco Twinkie:

Wow Jake! And here I've imagined you to be a crabby old man like myself. You a young sprout!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Lucky for us there's a large, bright disco ball moon up in the sky this evening.
  8:13pm JakeGould:

Ahhh… “The Wiz!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm chris:

classics! loving this set!
  8:13pm Jeff formerly from Rahway:

Every HS marching band played this song from The Wiz in the 70s & 80s.

I think a “Disco Loosie” is what you get at the corner store at 3:00am.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm listener 126464:

the good stuff
Avatar 8:19pm Clyde:

The other side of that Disco Lucy record is also fire.
  8:19pm Listener Robert:

Do you mind if I listen ironically?
Avatar 8:19pm Clyde:

This is so much fun.
Avatar 8:20pm Pablexa™:

Thanks JB!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm Franco Twinkie:

The sound of lasers in space sends me straight to the snack bar.
  8:22pm JakeGould:

@ListenerRobert: No parking on the dance floor.
  8:23pm BH:

anybody attempt trying to mix Disco with the Beverly Hillbillies theme?
Swag For Life Member 8:26pm Jinx:

i'd like to hear a Stars on 45-type disco medley of Quinn Martin Productions theme songs.

  8:28pm queems:

oh god i love this song so much
  8:29pm BH:

"Please vote between a disco mix of the Mary Tyler Moore theme song and a disco mix of Laverne and Shirley"
Avatar 8:29pm sugarwolf the doughnut witch:

I had a vegan friend in college who was very upset when this song was used in a Burger King commercial.
  8:33pm JakeGould:

@BH: “The Schlemiel Schlimazel Hustle!”
Avatar 8:33pm sugarwolf the doughnut witch:

I liked the line in the Sylvester biography: "It wouldn't have been surprising to hear that a disco version of the Mourner's Kaddish was on the way, or that Mrs. Betty Ford was working on an album"

uh, i would like those records please
  8:38pm Larry Ozone:

This music is on the pop and funk side of Disco. If you want to hear some real disco, try "Magic Bird of Fire", "Devil's Gun", "Don't Leave Me This Way", "Born to Be Alive", Love and Kisses, Franz Jolie, Beautiful Bend, early Donna Summer, "Midnight Love Affair" - Carol Douglas
  8:38pm JakeGould:

“This music is on the pop and funk side of Disco.” And it’s great!
  8:39pm Larry Ozone:

Just a reminder that Disco was banned on WFMU. The first disco song played on WFMU was "Lucky" by Donna Summer.
  8:40pm Booz:

Loving these cuts. LOVING.
  8:40pm tak:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm Gaylord Fields:

@Larry Ozone: You were WFMU’s disco pioneer back in the day — which didn’t make you too popular with some here, I understand.
  8:41pm Larry Ozone:

More Disco Classics - "SuperNature" by Cerrone, "You Make Me Feel Mighty Real" - Sylvester, "Menergy" among the other greats by Patrick Cowley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm Tommy in Neversink:

I wasn't allowed to like disco in my 70s hippy crowd but now I'm free at last
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm Tommy in Neversink:

Where's my name?
  8:43pm Larry Ozone:

The original "Turn The Beat Around" - Vicky Sue Robinson
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

"Shame," or an instrumental version, was the closing theme of the weekly soccer show hosted by Toby Charles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm Tommy in Neversink:

...but I draw the line at KC
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Does there exist an archive of Larry Ozone shows at WFMU?
  8:49pm one nighter:

my chest hair poking thru my glimmer blue silk shirt...choker...shark tooth dangling promiscuously...bell bottoms that you could crawl under...
Scorpio my hair stylist at Vidal Sasoon....let's get off to foxy...what was your sign.........
  8:49pm JakeGould:

@Larry: Sorry, thought you were some rando. Respect for your tenure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm queems:

this one used to be my ringtone, for like 5 years
Avatar 8:51pm katie:

Phew! I was getting worried the Bee Gees wouldn't make an appearance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm Tommy in Neversink:

The BGs are the probably the disco band I hated the most and now I love the most
  8:51pm Larry Ozone:

Even Freddy Mercury - "I Was Born to Love You", Abba "Lay All Your Love on Me", "Body Rock"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm Gaylord Fields:

@Larry: I do have several of those on 12”, but I’m playing only a cross section of 7” versions to present an overview.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm Gaylord Fields:

Thanks for providing a playlist, Larry, for further study!
  8:56pm Dunedin devine:

Dance free all you disco fools!! Praise FMU for Faylord on the airwaves!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm Gaylord Fields:

katie, we would be remiss if we didn’t play Bee Gees (as well as a show tune or two for sugarwolf)!
Avatar 8:56pm Faye:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm Bootsie:

Aaaahhhh, dammit, I just tuned in. I love this stuff! Definitely will be checking out the archive tomorrow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm Mark Hurst:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm Gaylord Fields:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm queems:

Swag For Life Member 9:00pm Jinx:

fun show. thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Yeah, I thought about that afterwards. It would be someone's stash of cassettes recorded off the air.
