A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Avatar 9:21am crateslinger:

I spent two nights sleeping at Occupy Wall Street and I'm wearing a Duff Beer T-shirt. Everything's coming up Milhouse!
Avatar 9:22am TDK60:

Morning Kevlicki. You takin' notes?
Avatar 9:22am crateslinger:

and I've tried to get into the Interference Archives in an attempt to offer art shipping crates, but it's always closed!
Avatar 9:23am crateslinger:

(I doubt they need art shipping crates anyways)
Avatar 9:24am TDK60:

I.A. is open Thu. - Sun. aftennoons.
Avatar 9:26am crateslinger:

Thanks TDK - If I'm out of the office on those days I'm usually in gallery neighborhoods, but I'll make it a point to shoot for the Manhattan Bridge and swing by IA. RedHook and Brooklyn are usually Monday/Tuesday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am EG_Astro:

love this mornings set so far. : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am steveo:

I have learned that Louise Bock is Taralie Peterson who plays sax for Dire Wolves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am melinda:

I like the slow tunes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am steveo:

melinda, me too
Avatar 9:35am TDK60:

..what wonderful tunes Trouble. But it's always like that on this show.
  9:37am BnowB:

wish i had gone to the cross records show the other week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48am sphere:

the slower tempo is a godsend. it's nice that something is slow these days.
  9:49am david:

where do i find some of this music to download or buy? i have a ton of songs in the 'favorites' tab and haven't been able to find most of them.
Avatar 9:49am Snoochienucci:

@sphere i couldnt agree more. its like taking a nice big breath after running around all day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am melinda:

@david I have that problem too. Seems many people find stuff on Discogs. I joined but haven't really used it yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am Trouble:

@david: the whole first set was all new music: i would look at bandcamp for the bands
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am melinda:

oh yeah bandcamp is good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Trouble:

discogs is great for older stuff that you are looking for used. but all the new music can be sourced thru band sites or label sites. Support your independent musicians and labels!
Avatar 9:59am Snoochienucci:

this belle and sebastian reminds me of donnovan a bit
  10:00am kevlicki:

David, if you’re in the Metro area, it sounds like there’s a record fair coming up at WFMU this month. Try crate digging for music there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am ifeelfatnsassy:

The slightly slower tempo on this mix is driving me nuts. One of my favorite B&S songs and I'm just feeling crazy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am sphere:

I think WFMU's Monty Hall fair is on Saturday at 10 am.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am EG_Astro:

great shift
  10:04am kevlicki:

What frustrates me about new music is that I don’t have a preferred app to listen to digital files. I fell out of use and syncing/updating iTunes and I don’t care for the streaming services-due to their data mining practices. I’m not interested in being served preferential ads.
So...I listen to WFMU instead
Avatar 10:05am Hubig Pie:

I thought that B&S song was on Feeling Sinister LP
  10:05am kevlicki:

I would love other solutions so I could enjoy my digi music on my mobile device
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am melinda:

@kevlicki updating and syncing can be a pain, I wonder what it's going to be like when they replace iTunes with the new thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am sphere:

@ kevlicki - there should be other solutions!
  10:12am kevlicki:

Yay! I’m looking forward to Joshs WFMU debut. He has put up with my obsession with this station for years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am sphere:

here's some Windows mp3 players: MediaMonkey, VLC, foobar2000, MusicBee, Groove Music, AIMP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am sphere:

and there's also WinAmp
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am kuba:

oh wow, trouble, this set, chef's kiss, already!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Phillippe Bastille:

good morning
  10:20am johnk77:

very nice show selecter @trouble
for those looking for alternative
Mac music apps
Swinsian, VLC, and Amazon Music
it is rumored that Apple
might replace iTunes w/
a new music app
  10:29am Mr. Palchepo.:

Indices. Sorry, I’m my mother’s son.
  10:36am ?:

What is the book called that they are currently speaking about?
  10:39am kevlicki:

Encyclopedia of political record labels
Avatar 10:39am TDK60:

  10:50am coco:

  10:59am kevlicki:

These Guinea Bissau songs are great!
  11:02am Peter in SEA:

Argh, just joining, well I'll listen in archives! Happy Troubled Thursday tout le monde!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Jan Turkenburg:

listening in The Netherlands (and enjoying :-) )
  11:14am kevlicki:

I wonder if this is the first time many of these songs have been played on a English language station in the USA?
  11:16am kevlicki:

Does ASCAP collect royalties to remit to political record labels?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Passaic River Blues:

This one is almost inexpressibly beautiful.
  11:25am kevlicki:

Trouble I forgot to mention Josh is a big nerd, an encyclopedia of political cultures himself
  11:27am Lucky:

Jacques Tardi! He has made these awesome graphic novel versions of Jean-Patrick Manchette novels. Also, the Adèle Blanc-Sec adventures! Probably early steam punk influence.

One feature at I.A. is the shelf of LPs, and a turntable; you can go in and listen to tunes while you volunteer or look thru books, posters, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Mister Dobalina:

This track is top NOTCH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Mister Dobalina:

@Ken...I'm a little jealous that you have a pumpkin next to your boombox.
  11:42am Lloyd:

So good. Thank you Trouble!
Avatar 11:42am Listening Out There:

"cadences" might as well be an Isaac Hayes rap....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Passaic River Blues:

Yes, more Haitian Isaac Hayes, please.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Ken From Hyde Park:
