If I want to go anywhere now I have to go to the train station, queue up, get a ticket, wait for a train, travel there ... blah blah blah ...Sometimes it's too much of a palaver.

But if I had a scooter ..... ;-)

same in nyc, spacebrother!
though for godsake lock it up properly when you're done..
Avatar 4:12pm

I really should. It would fit my style. Put some sick stickers on it like record labels and shops and maybe Bob and Eris' apple. Install some lights on it too, like a scooter.

Hey all mod cons! A mod Big Wheel sounds hilarious. But lowrider bicycles have been an LA thing for a while, so why not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

There's a bike school here that does an afternoon trial on scooters. I might treat myself :-)
Avatar 4:15pm
Otis Fodder:

I can corner the Big Wheel market. I'm sure I could find a vintage 70s one on eBay beat up and go on a restoration project. Put a basket on it and roll out to the farmer's market. It's like a stepping stone to a scooter, like buying Stanton turntables before Technics 1200s. Ha.
Avatar 4:16pm
Linda Lee:

i encourage both my Sheena friends to go for it. life's too short! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm

You've all persuaded me to go for the trial weekend :-)
I mean ... I can't really do a show like the Flange and not at least try a scooter really ;-)
Avatar 4:17pm
Linda Lee:

the 'leather boys' film made me wonder: why did one group choose choppers & the other choose scooters?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Scooters are clean and tidy - choppers greasy. So clean and tidy mods chose scooters and bikers went for choppers :-)
Avatar 4:18pm

@Linda - I was depressed, I was a teenager, I liked the Who, I liked the first and 2nd wave mod music - i.e. Brit invasion and ska. And there was a scene in Los Angeles at the time.

Yep - "'Happy Jack' - Released in December 1966, this early record was one of the only songs written by Pete Townshend to feature John Entwistle on lead vocals. At the end of the song Pete Townshend can be heard shouting “I saw you!”, apparently to Keith Moon who always tried to get his voice onto the recording."
