Avatar 7:20pm Mayuko:

Good evening!
Avatar 7:28pm Kurt Gottschalk:

hi mayuko!
heya veep and 98145!
franco, ready!
Avatar 7:31pm Franco Twinkie:

I saw Ornette Coleman & Prime time years ago at the Westwood Playhouse. The stage was dressed as a suburban living room with hot sitcom lighting. Ornette was flanked by symmetrical rhythm sections with him blasting away in the middle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Michael 98145:

gotta love Mr Nelson
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm chresti:

Fine set this is, Kurt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Kurt and everyone
Avatar 7:56pm Kurt Gottschalk:

heya coel!
Avatar 7:56pm Franco Twinkie:

Wait! before I get into it, a bit about my mom & me during better times: I went to the federal building, also in Westwood to get a passport. My documentation was not exactly ship shape, so they told me to come back with my high school year book and my MOM! The day me & my mom went back, Snoop Dog was at next window taking the oath. My mom didn't know who he was so I said "watch this." Ignoring protocol and been down right rude, I said " Hey Snoop, gonna do a little bit of traveling?" Without missing a beat he says - Yeeeeah. After that, my mom would see him on T.V. and then report to me she saw "that Snoopy Dog" talking to whoever. This went on for years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm Michael 98145:

kinda forget about Mr Lowe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm doctorjazz:

I'm Getting paranoid...someone does a set of a few tracks by the same artist, and I fear the worst...is Nick Lowe OK?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm Michael 98145:

i see dead people on Morricone Island
Avatar 8:01pm TDK60:

  8:08pm Chuck:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm coelacanth∅:

  8:28pm V Priceless:

Avatar 8:36pm ranjit:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm coelacanth∅:

  8:41pm V Priceless:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm chresti:

Avatar 8:45pm Franco Twinkie:

Did Charles Bradley say "When I was in the kitchen walking by the sink"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm coelacanth∅:

i know what you you mean V it changed pretty abruptly, and definitely early here. it's been gorgeous weather just not very hot. great for working outside at least; but i didn't get a single dayhike in this year. (yet)
Avatar 8:48pm TDK60:

I was skeptical, so a pal made me stay up real late and listen to Tongues, with a special ingestion to augment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm doctorjazz:

Been a great driving home set!
Avatar 9:04pm Kurt Gottschalk:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm coelacanth∅:

is "oops" an almost universal expression? used in most languages and cultures and meaning basically the same things?
Avatar 9:13pm Kurt Gottschalk:

except in cultures where they don't make mistakes
  9:15pm Dean:

OED is uncertain, but suggests it's perhaps a shortened "upsadaisy" or "whoopsie." But it also acknowledges it could be an imitative or expressive formation. OED declares "ouch," for example, "ultimately imitative." Add that to the band name short list.
  9:17pm CC:

Mmmm... can't get enough of that busy horn blowing!!!
  9:17pm Dean:

James Joyce in Ulysses: "Hoopsa! Don't fall upstairs."
Avatar 9:20pm Franco Twinkie:

Coel, Mexicans say - ai que lastima! with a slap to the forehead. Oops like, but with more self recrimination.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm chresti:

I was leaning towards whoopsie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm chresti:

Then there's oof!
Avatar 9:22pm Kurt Gottschalk:

you gotta be careful when you're leaning towards whoopsie!
  9:22pm Dean:

And "Leaning Toward Whoopsie" is a candidate title for the Great American Novel.
Avatar 9:23pm Kurt Gottschalk:

or chrissie hynde's next record
  9:23pm CC:

this kind of reminds me of how my old 8-tracks used to bleed over...???
  9:24pm CC:

Dean... by David Allan Coe...
  9:24pm Dean:

I'm confused. LTW is the title of CHNR...or CHNR is the title of the GAN?
Avatar 9:24pm TDK60:

"oof" sounds to me like when your galoshes get old and loose, and you stumble on the rug.
  9:25pm Dean:

Ah, right! David Allan Coe, the inventor of digital analog conversion!
Avatar 9:29pm ranjit:

  9:29pm CC:

Yeah... there is a link to his Digital Book on YouTube called whoops-a-daisy...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Doug Schulkind:

What a brilliant summer of Tuesday evening radio from Mr. Gottschalk! But if you thought you've heard the last of the Minotaur, oh ho ho, are you sadly mistaken.

Miniature Minotaurs will be filling in for Bodega Pop Live on here on the Drummer Stream on consecutive Wednesday evenings, October 2 and 9 (both 7-10pm). Thanks, Kurt!!
Avatar 9:31pm Kurt Gottschalk:

Thank you, Hoss!
Avatar 9:32pm TDK60:

I'm fairly confident of a scenario of welcoming warmth extended to Kurt by the Bodega Popsters...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm leaning toward wh∅∅psie:

i think of OOF as when you have to pick up your drunk friend off the bathroom floor and he/she's heavier than you thought.
OOPS more like oh i meant to tell you that that toaster will fling your english muffin to the ceiling but i forgot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm chresti:

  9:36pm Dean:

I love OED. Here on "oof": Representing the sound made when expelling breath loudly through the mouth, and hence expressing various emotions conveyed by this action, such as alarm, annoyance, wonder, relief, resignation, etc.
  9:36pm doctorjazz:

Great dBs record/track!
  9:37pm Dean:

Seems to me Happy Flowers had an album called "Oof."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm doctorjazz:

For a few moments there, Farlowe sounds a but like Room Jones...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm chresti:

makes sense @Dean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm chresti:

Top dog champion show all the way Kurt!
Avatar 9:43pm TDK60:

Fab, man.
Avatar 9:48pm northguineahills:

Thanks, Kurt, ,tis been a great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm doctorjazz:

Thanks, Kurt!
  9:52pm Chuck:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm chresti:

Avatar 9:54pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm doctorjazz:

(Always Thought of John Surman as a sax player, that was interesting...and this is FUN!
