Hey LD and Flamers!
Glad to hear you're feeling well, Matt (did you get dehydrated? Must be easy to do in N'Awlins, that's what it's called The Big Easy)

It is indeed chresti. Full of echo-roasted almonds

Danny, What up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
Little Danny:

Hey hey hey Franco! Since the poncho discussion during Bill's show all I can do is try to think of other poncho-wearing '60s rockers. Thanks a lot, OCD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
Little Danny:

@Matt: I don't know her catalog/sessionagraphy very well. But whatta voice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm
Matt from New Orleans:

That was how I became aware of her.

hi friends
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
Franco Twinkie:

This poncho business can be an ongoing process of discovery for all of us Danny, as we wake up in middle of the night and go - Oh Yeah, what about so and so!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
melinda:

I have a poncho and found that it isn't as practical as I'd hoped. Gets in the way of many tasks.
  10:51pm
Dean:

Musical historical lapses are not rare (thinking here of your remarks about Timi Yuro), particularly respecting pre-20th century composers. I read a bimonthly classical music recordings magazine, Fanfare, about 500 pages with very slim margins and few illustrations, all reviews of new recordings. Not infrequently a reviewer comments favorably about a composer whose works have gone virtually unrecorded until the arrival of the subject recording. There is so much great unheard music out there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
Franco Twinkie:

As I was in the kitchen serving myself some ice cream a minute ago, I thought of my old work associate Lance Fent from The Peanut Butter Conspiracy who is wearing a poncho on the cover of their first album...with quite a bit of manly swagger I might ad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
Little Danny:

Dean and Melinda. Welcome pals!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
Little Danny:

@Dean: Absolutely. Most, in fact, remains unheard. Even in the obscurist corners of FMU there's so much that's recherché
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 10:57pm

That Searchers track is one I haven't heard in AGES! And the set is moving along beautifully in that vein!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm
Franco Twinkie:

In the early days of Big Brother, Janis wore a poncho-like cover up, which upon closer inspection reveals itself to be a table cloth. Also, Signe Anderson, the first female singer in the Jefferson Airplane was often photographed beponchoed. San Francisco was justifiably a poncho city in 1966. I remember it was really cold that summer. It was the first time in my life I wore a sweater in August.
Avatar 11:14pm
northguineahills:

Yes, LD!

And I just now realize Kubrick (as in Stanley) would be an anglicized version of a Polish coppersmith. Indo-European entymological cognates, I eventually figure them out!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:16pm
chresti:

Okay, now you're blowing my mind..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm

Oh hell yes, Franco, Signe's another one that I know! I believe from that first JA album cover

Imagine being a kid and spending most of your playtime fucking around with language precisely because it's language, a medium of communication. That was a huge part of my childhood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm

Thank you chresti! Blowing minds is the sought-after pinnacle of FMU DJs. Or it should be
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm

I spent my playtime as a kid fucking around with explosives an knives.

Coel, sometimes a topic just has a glorious moment to shine again before it burrows back into the soil where it belongs.
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:33pm

I have never worn a poncho
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm
Little Danny:

@coel: It was actually I who got the topic rolling again. But it's worth it
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:34pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm

On the west coast overalls are all of that, as the kids say. Especially in Berkeley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm
Franco Twinkie:

Oh man, The Isleys ARE bad ass, even in a polka-dot poncho!
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:39pm

Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:40pm

Nice Palmieri/Tjader track! Saw Palmieri a few weeks ago, he still has that fiery, jagged rhythmic approach, and have a great performance.

Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:46pm

I missed the first poncho discussion...Poncho and Lefty would sound good here (or any time).
Avatar 🦭 Swag For Life Member 11:48pm
coelacanth∅:

ha, pancho and lefty did come up during the initial poncho discussion!
(i have never heard of them)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
Franco Twinkie:

Okay, the hour is getting late, so this is my last shot: All yoose got to google The Grateful Dead on Playboy After Dark. They do Mountains Of The Moon AND Saint Stephan live with tripping swingsters falling out all over the place. Jerry Garcia is wearing the poncho....and he has his pants tucked into his boots! 'Nuff said. Peace out, brothers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm

I really wanna squeeze in some Poncho Sanchez now. Damn that woulda been perfect after the Tjader/Palmieri. Next week
