Sonic Boom does a fine cover of "True Love Will Find You in the End" as Spectrum....
  12:58pm prudy:

glad you're back Pseu!
  1:01pm zephyr:

Hey Pseu....If you're not already completely familiar with it (I suspect you probably are) for masterful 'recent" pop I highly recommend "Cosmic Candy" by The Orion Experience (2007). He lived in my building in JC and gave me a copy when it was new. I still listen to it. Very solid stuff....
Avatar 1:03pm Pseu Braun:

played orion experience before - thanks!

Talking to the flowers, I smell what they're saying.

Daniel Johnston killed himself?
Avatar 1:30pm northguineahills:

I can only find citations of him being designated w/ schizophrenia by the Boston Globe and the New York Press, so, take that w/ a grain of salt.

So far, it seems like a heart attack....
Avatar 1:31pm northguineahills:

@SSS:Yes, Prince wrote that song!

Getting the right medication 'cocktail' can be difficult in itself.
  1:36pm Ochre Ogre:

Claypool Lennon are great in concert.
  1:37pm Fletchernyc:

Hey Pseu!!
I was at that Weyes Blood Show! I was tending bar on the 2nd floor
  1:37pm Sally J.:

i bet John would think they are
Avatar 1:37pm B/wad:

This is where i say she reminds me of Aimee Mann. Am I right Pseu???
Avatar 1:38pm Pseu Braun:

Fletcher, we got cocktails at the downstairs bar. ANOTHER handsome bartender was there and loaded my hendricks with extra!
Avatar 1:42pm Pseu Braun:

b/wad agreed on a "touch" of aimee, in the nasal passages. Natalie's range is quite beyond though.
  1:42pm prudy:

yeah, there's a solemnity about Weyes Blood that just really bothers me. Her voice does recall Aimee Mann, another vocalist I don't care for. But to each his/her own. Freeform forever...
Avatar 1:43pm Pseu Braun:

Agreed on the solemnity but so much beauty and femininity too
  1:46pm Ken B:

Great show today. That Weyes Blood track blew me away. Thanks!
  1:46pm Fletchernyc:

You are right about the Aimee Mann comparison... super-apparent live!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Bill in W.O.:

I'm a big Aimee Mann fan, but she doesn't have Ms. Mering's voice. I haven't loved the songs as much as Ms. Mann's, but I've tried because of Pseu's imprimatur. And this Charly Bliss, dang.
Avatar 1:54pm Pseu Braun:

Not an Aimee fan, respectfully. Natalie is aces above most musicians period. The live show really drove that home.
  1:54pm smoochie poo:

Weyes Blood, Cat Power....what’s the difference?
Avatar 1:56pm Pseu Braun:

Cat Powder. Also great to hear from the incel contig
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Carmichael:

Thanks for the Daniel Johnston, Pseu. May he find some peace in the next life.
  2:02pm Fletchernyc:

To be clear, I only heard certain vocal qualities that are similar (timbre?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Jeezy:

The QUEEN of POP is back!!!! Yaaaay!!! You were missed, PSEU!!! Thanks for making life more bearable again!!
  2:09pm Mike Wolf:

Feel like we need yet another man’s opinion on Weyes Blood, so

She’s great. I love the new record, I think she’s made a unique path from underground bedroom psychedelia (which I also really liked) to her current singer-songwriter-orchestrator mode.

I also think female singers are about 10,000x more likely to be compared to one another (or, more accurately, to Cat Power) based on as little as a vocal inflection than male singers are.
Avatar 2:15pm Pseu Braun:

You get no argument here. Indie rock geezers see above
  2:16pm prudy:

for the record, I don't think Weyes Blood sounds anything like Cat Power. I like the rawness of some of Cat Power's work. Weye's Blood is way overproduced IMO...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Bill in W.O.:

@MW paragraph 3 - yup. Intuitively, you'd think it'd be the opposite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Carmichael:

YESSS! The Rutles, just like my avatar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm steveo:

hello; i'm probably a bad person because sometimes I can't tell the rutles from all non-ironic beatle copycat bands (and why aren't there two T's?)
  2:19pm Fletchernyc:

I always thought the Beatles sounded like these guys
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Bill in W.O.:

Heh, saw what you did there.
  2:19pm Websie:

flogging my memory right now
  2:20pm Websie:

steveo, bcz Rutland doesnt have two Ts
Avatar 2:20pm Pseu Braun:

Ringo and Cat Power...can't distinguish - same wig
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Krys O.:

I think that Weyes Blood has a similar quality to Jennifer Warnes when she just went by Jennifer and was on the Smothers Brothers show. I admire Natalie Mering.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Carmichael:

Wow, solo Colin Blunstone. You're killin' it, Pseu!
  2:21pm Ken B:

And now Blunstone! wowza
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Krys O.:

Ooh, gotta listen to my Colin Blunstone albums when I get home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Carmichael:

Ken Sharp sounds like Marc Bolan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Carmichael:

Or maybe Sweet.
  2:25pm Fletchernyc:

So glad you are back Pseu:)
Avatar 2:26pm SSS:

I was sure this was T Rex!
Avatar 2:26pm Michael Shelley:

enjoying all this quite a bit
  2:30pm rw:

That's why Ringo grew the mustache
Avatar 2:30pm Pseu Braun:

Tommy Hoehn, the poor man's Roger Waters
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Bill in W.O.:

And then there's the early record where Britt Daniel sounds like Frank Black
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Listener Scott:

I rarely get to catch your show live, Pseu, so I gotta thank you for all the shows and also that awesome yellow surfer t-shirt
  2:41pm Ochre Ogre:

Thought that was T Rex too, heard parts of it. Gotta listen agin in the archives.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Carmichael:

Boston doesn't even sound like Boston.
  2:41pm rw:

Who sounds like Boston?
  2:42pm Ochre Ogre:

I just crashed into a huge oak tree
Avatar 2:43pm V Priceless:

welcome back to the 'waves, Pseu!
Avatar 2:43pm Pseu Braun:

Thanks Listener Scott! I wore my shirt to the ShopRite in my town.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Carmichael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm queems:

so glad this show is back! it's perfect for thursday!
  2:45pm Ochre Ogre:

@Carmichael- Haw! Maple trees remind me of syrup.
Avatar 2:46pm SSS:

A rose, by any other name, would smell as sweet. Comparisons of smells or sounds are difficult to avoid because either will come when they are triggered from something that already got into our head as a pleasant or otherwise, formed memory.
  2:46pm Fletchernyc:

Pseu has More Than a Feeling about comparisons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Carmichael:

HA HA HA Fletchernyc ....
Avatar 2:48pm SSS:

Oh yes, and some of my favorite pass times are camp humor, simple goofiness and plain crazy ramblin'.
Avatar 2:48pm Pseu Braun:

Clever boy. SSS I think more music should be evaluated by smell.
Avatar 2:49pm SSS:

NOW we'er talkin'!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Bill in W.O.:

Worked OK with The Raspberries debut.
Avatar 2:52pm SSS:

Welcome back Pseu, thanks!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Estatic that you're back, young lady!
