Pale Cocoon? Why does that name sound so familiar?
Avatar 12:36am

Speaking of Nowhere, there's a popular hike out here to the Bridge to Nowhere. A bridge built in the 1930s just before the road to it washed out. So it's a brand new bridge 80 years old in the mountains with no roads leading to nor from it. Some dude found a loophole years ago and got the mining rights to the area and runs a bungee jumping business off of it which kind of fucks up the magic of the thing but if they're not bungee jumping it's pretty cool.
Avatar 12:48am
sv:

wow, what a spot - shame that guy with entrepreneurial had to smudge some of the magic of it but at least it ain't completely effaced
  12:49am
John from Florham park:

Thanks sv might put a timer on and drift off to sleep
Avatar 12:50am
sv:

i hear ya on that, pal
  12:56am
rw:

I suppose. But when they're out there it really sucks. Feels like Knott's Berry Farm or something. Crawling with tourists and classic rock blasting. Maybe it's worse for me because I know it from before. I'd almost prefer it were completely covered with graffiti. Anyway, enough ranting. Just thinking about a Bridge to Nowhere Places...
Avatar 12:59am
sv:

i'm right there with ya - give me an abandoned spot over somewhere smoothed out for concession stands any day

i fell asleep. 'twas quite what i wanted, but now i don't know which track floating through my subconsciousness was remedios the beautiful.
i considered naming a piece of music that once and for some reason decided to websearch it and found a mediocre-at-best pop song called remedios the beautiful (or the beauty) youboob video. the lyrics of the song had absolutely nothing to do with the character they took the song title from.
  1:17am
rw:

Ha! Here's a video: https://www.kcet.org/shows/huell-howser/classic-huell-the-bridge-to-nowhere There was a great local show hosted by a guy named Huell Howser called Videolog that ran on PBS back in ancient history. This segment is on the Bridge to Nowhere. So great. Worth checking out other episodes too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am

that sounds very cool rw. (wish i could watch the video but my computer says error)

I really miss the old Darla recs. I was listening to Flowchart today in the car on Darla's Bliss Out series.....
  1:26am
rw:

coel, holy cow. I just watched another episode on cat litter. I think I need to send a link to the Play Vertigo DJ. Really should be working instead... Okay, back to it...
Avatar 1:26am
sv:

the bliss out series is, from all i've heard, absolutely fucking sick
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27am
coelacanth∅:

someone brought me to an abandoned bridge in (i think) madison nj that also has no roads leading to it. (or maybe roads are there but are burried under soil and plant growth?) it's cool but not really grand. if i remember correctly it's over a highway; and it's probably not that old, maybe from the 1960s?
Avatar 1:27am
sv:

also, when is numero gonna get on re-issuing Sweet Trip's discography
Avatar 1:28am
sv:

i'm tryna go to an abandoned bridge and it need not be grand - the fact of abandonment is enough for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28am
coelacanth∅:

cat litter?
i don't know why i can't watch that video.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31am
coelacanth∅:

sv i'd help but unfortunately i'm not in touch with that friend anymore.
i took some pictures of her up there that might give clues about where it is but i can't look for them right now.
i'll look though. soon.
Avatar 1:31am
sv:

any suggestions or clues are much appreciated!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am
coelacanth∅:

i'm pretty sure it's madison. could be morristown. that general vicinity anyway.
it might go over route 24?
Avatar 1:35am
sv:

gotcha - how did you approach the actual bridge? walk through woods?
  1:38am
rw:

coel, here's a somewhat shorter version of the Bridge episode. Maybe without an error message: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs-ijRe9XC0
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am
coelacanth∅:

it might be this newprovidencedailyphoto.wordpress.com...
- though she didn't tell me about any cloverleaf. we walked through woods but not far. (which also would be the case with this)
