Uncle Michael:

They have lived for a decade in a dwelling *other* than where their two kids lived when the graduated high school and went off to college. Those two are now working professionals in their early thirties...and persist in calling their two guest bedrooms "Nick's room" and Lexie's room", though neither of them ever used them as such. Do not behave like this.
Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 9:17am
Uncle Michael:

So basically, the first summer your son has better things to do than come home to the parents...that room is no longer his. There's a moment when "away at college" transitions to "lives on his own". Don't miss it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am
Jeff Golick:

Gotcha. Can manage that. We're in the awkward hybrid zone now, where he's around some of the time (and his stuff, 100% of the time).

Sage advice from a non-parent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am

Of course, the modern parent these days has to consider the possibility that the kinder will simply crash back at home after graduation.

No one wants this.

Hey folks. Younger daughter just went back to college yesterday. But she's back for months at a time, with the long breaks they get. Older daughter is away working a Disney cruise since December (she's an actor, Musical Theater). But she'll be home in a few weeks; lives here for long periods between gigs. They both still have their rooms (and when the younger one brings her boyfriend and dog, they claim another room). Can't say we've figured thus all out...

Saw the quartet a few years back, with Perez, Patatucci, Blade @ NJPAC. Thought it would be "straight ahead", so I went with my wife. It turned out quite abstract, not easy to follow. Thankfully, I wife had a good book with her, read it the whole show (which I thought was great).

Shorter was a great weapon in the Trane / Miles stakes...& Trane died '67 of course ... Always felt Trane was out ahead - but of course how Miles relentlessly pursued New forms & styles & players is one of the great narratives of all Jazzes...
