Another WFMU victory: my sweetie just walked into the room and said What NOW?!?!

"Now That's What I Call 'What Now?!' Vol. 1"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm chresti:

Hi Granny-just the occasional feeling of standing on jello
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm Doug Schulkind:

Welcome back, Comrade Sam!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Sam Segal:

Gracias, Commandant Doug!

  9:35pm John from florham park:

Yes we do
  9:37pm Llerraf sirhc:

Sam did you experience any backlash from the blackout?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Sam Segal:

Had a great excuse to cancel plans to go into Manhattan, and just camped out in Brooklyn for the night. So, for me, the blackout was a decent turn of events.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Sam Segal:

Howdy, John!
  9:41pm Llerraf sirhc:

Very nice! I imagine commuting to Manhattan on a Saturday would be a headache even on the best day!
Avatar 9:43pm Franco Twinkie:

Sam, so what is the story with that futuristic little runabout, consumer version of the Wiener Mobile?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Sam Segal:

@Franco: Here's the caption from the photo: "Exhibit at the First Symposium on Low Pollution Power Systems Development Held at the Marriott Motor Inn, Ann Arbor Vehicles and Hardware Were Assembled at the EPA Ann Arbor Laboratory. Part of the Exhibit Was Held in the Motel Parking Lot Photo Shows Participants Looking over the Esb "Sundancers", an Experimental Electric Car 10/1973"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Sam Segal:

@Llerraf: It certainly can be! Especially because the L train (my main route into the city) only goes to Manhattan once every 20 minutes on the weekend.
Avatar 9:46pm still b/p:

Blackout "turn of events"...:
Avatar 9:49pm Franco Twinkie:

Symposium in a motel parking lot - Watch out Detroit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm Sam Segal:

@SBP: Hahahaha there's truly no better buzz.
  9:54pm John from florham park:

Howdy Sam
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm doctorjazz:

Hi...quick visit tonight. Got 1 hour off sleep last night, be crashing soon. But fun beats for preparing to crash...
  10:12pm Llerraf sirhc:

The writing in the Purple Mountains song was enjoyable. I liked the line about waiting for a nod from god right before the chorus. You have spoken highly of David Berman which probably makes me bias toward liking him but Silver Jews album American Water has helped me fall asleep a few nights since hearing of them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Sam Segal:

Thanks for checking in, Doc! I too slept very poorly...these beats are my fuel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Sam Segal:

@Llerraf: I highly recommend the Purple Mountains record, if you dug that tune.
  10:21pm Llerraf sirhc:

I’ve looked into grabbing it since I heard all my happiness is gone. I’ll search for it on Spotify or purchase it. He’s coming to my area and I now have wheels where I could go see him live.
Avatar 10:25pm northguineahills:

Here, but just packing/cleaning (and was napping earlier).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Sam Segal:

Good to see you, NGH! Didn't know you were moving.
Avatar 10:33pm northguineahills:

Don't know where my next job will be, I have 8 interview threads going on , 4 in Tampa/St, Pete, and 4 here, and my lease is up at the end of the month.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Sam Segal:

Ah, best of luck to you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Sam Segal:

8 interview threads is a lot to juggle.
  10:36pm Llerraf sirhc:

NGH what industry do you work in? If you don’t mind me asking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm doctorjazz:

Man, NGH, this is really dragging for you. Hope something good pans out!
  10:37pm Llerraf sirhc:

If I remember correctly it is something with the environment?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm coelacanth∅:

hey Sam and others
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm chresti:

Great set Sam, I've got to knock off the chat early, still listening..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Sam Segal:

Hey, Coel! Great to see you.

Be well, Chresti. Don't wander too far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm coelacanth∅:

Great to be here!

Avatar 11:14pm Franco Twinkie:

Not to mention Mr. Green Jeans!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Sam Segal:

Hams! Carmichael! Now we're talking...two of the greats.
  11:33pm Carmichael:

Just got a Brett Favre promoted nose hair shaver! I’m living large!!
Avatar 11:33pm northguineahills:

@Llerraf sirhc: Sorry for the late response (I've only got to packing to the "E's" of my CDs). I work in the Geographical Information Sciences....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm Sam Segal:

I could use one of those myself, Carmichael.
  11:40pm Carmichael:

$12 at Walgreens.
Avatar 11:45pm northguineahills:

@franco: Now, I'm having Capt Kangaroo flashbacks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm coelacanth∅:

i'm growing mine out, so i can do this
  11:49pm Carmichael:

This is great, very poetic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm Sam Segal:

David Berman is a brilliant poet on top of being one of the greatest living songwriters!
  11:51pm Carmichael:

Thanks for this, Sam.
  11:54pm Carmichael:

I saw Frisell many years ago, with some other backing folks. It was a shambles, in a great way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm Sam Segal:

His versatility is so astounding to me. I've seen him do totally avant free improv, and I have seen him play that kind of gorgeous Americana we just heard.
Avatar 11:59pm Hams:

sam, seems like there's gotta be a release someday of the jews' last show down there in those caverns. a 650am, the legend, special. perhaps he's saving it up..
Avatar 11:59pm Franco Twinkie:

Magical/lyrical - Good night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am Sam Segal:

@Hams: Would be so thrilled, if he did release it. What an incredible way to go out (for awhile, at least...).
  12:01am Carmichael:

Hampton Grease Band
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am coelacanth∅:

Thanks Sam
take care everyone
Avatar 12:05am Hams:
