Re: Covered Songs ... in the jazz world, at one point 'My Funny Valentine' was up there in cover versions. Hi SheilaB. Hi everyone.

Hey Sheila and sophisticates! Don’t get to check in often here but I always listen. I’ve also heard that “Yesterday” is the most covered song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Joe McGasko has proven that "Eleanor Rigby" reigns supreme.

  3:38pm Frank Zaatar:

It used to be St. Louis Blues, but now I think it's Something by George Harrison.
Of course if you ask buskers around the world. it's Leonard Cohen 's Hallelujah-to the point where he pretty much disavowed the song.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Mr. Pumpy:

@djsheilab You've given me an idea for a niche market wherein people want really specific sampled vinyl hiss. I can end up with thousands of real samples. "What are you in the market for today, a hiss form the beginning of The Stone's Tattoo You that has been outside of it's sleeve in an attic for 20 years, or perhaps the hiss off of a bad pressing of the Urban Outfitters limited release of Shania Twain's 'Now' (limited to 100,000)? What's that, the inner groove of The Monster Mash 45 on Parrot records? Not a problem! Why I just digitized that one last Tuesday." There are a lot of distinct vinyl hisses out there. Any backers on the board here? Is this Kickstarter ready? HISS FACTORY!

The smudge from the middle 8 of Herb Alpert's The Happening, please

Funny “hiss” is now
  5:38pm P-90:

Funny that “hiss” is now a topic here, I was thinking that “Smart Boy” near the top of the show had just the right seasoning of dirt in the grooves

I'm at a classic car cruise-in at the mall, SBB is competing with boomy announcer man

I had a sketchy version of Risque Blues on vinyl. It was risque. A real mother for ya. Fluffy Hunter's version is DIRTY!

Millie Jackson also is not for the faint of heart
Avatar 5:46pm djsheilab:

dano59—Seriously! Love how far Millie takes it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Mr. Pumpy:

@P-90 (I'm imagining that's an electric geetar pickup reference, I love me some P-90s) anyhow...see...'Smart Boy' had just the right grit. I'm starting this company. Anyone want to get in on the ground-floor...it will be akin to Apple starting in a garage! We can also eventually ruin a lot of great things in the world. Kidding...it's all about the hissssssssssssssss!

Does this DJ ever play Stereolab?
Avatar 5:49pm djsheilab:

tmensighten—This DJ does play Stereolab. And very often bands influenced by Stereolab.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Phillippe Bastille:

Oddly enough, there's also a band called Monolab. monolab.bandcamp.com
