It was thought before this experiment for as long as 60+ minutes (depending on the condition of the brain), but now it pushes envelop much further (experiments on dead human brains are frowned upon these days [unless you're Drs Mengele or Frankenstein, which thankfully one is dead, and the other is fictional].
