Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm chresti:

Hi enjoying !!!!
  10:15pm Carmichael:

Heya Therese and night rockers.
Avatar 10:17pm northguineahills:

to age myself, I was at my friend's church, getting ready to go on a mountain bike trek, when his goody-goody little sister came and told us about Kurt, we didn't believe her, especially since we didn't think she knew who he was....
Avatar 10:17pm northguineahills:

(crikes, I was still in HS).
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I was visiting friends in Denver and the news broke on my birthday. Sad birthday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey Therese and everyone! Therese, I usually catch you on the archives, 'cuz I'm old and go to bed early, but I wanted to sign on tonight to thank you for such a wonderful show last week. I listened to it twice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Switchblade Batman:

Right in the memory feels Therese.

But yeah @north, my mom was taking me to the doctors when I heard. And same here 10th grade.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Phillippe Bastille:

Late happy birthday KFHP
Avatar 10:22pm northguineahills:

I forgot about you bday Ken in the mental noise consuming me (I read it on the boards the other day) Feliz cumpleanos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Phillippe Bastille:

I was 37 when Kurt died. Nirvana was kinda off my radar at that point.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, guys.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey, a birthday shout-out, too. Thanks, Therese!
  10:30pm Marc15:

I remember I was very distraught when I heard that Kurt Cobain had died. I have a vivid memory of going to my first boyfriend’s house and him trying to console me
  10:33pm Carmichael:

I grew up with Morrison, Hendrix and Joplin. Also, Bobby Kennedy and MLK. So, and I ‘m sorry to sound uncaring, another music suicide didn’t phase me. It’s a terrible thing for sure, though. I hope there’s some closure for the family.
  10:33pm bundtpan98:

Therese, could you play a Fight number?
  10:35pm sim:

Is this a Joe Biden song? I keed, I keed.
Avatar 10:36pm northguineahills:

I think I was at the stage where I was too indie for Nirvana anymore and starting to get into more adventurous music when he died, then a few years later, I really got back into them and still like a lot what they did to this day. Right before Nevermind came out, I was at the indie dance club (one of the first times my parents let me go out), and Nirvana was playing inside ($5, I'd already payed cover for the evening), but I decided to stay outside and chill w/ my friends, as I was new to music at the time, and had no clue who they were).
  10:36pm pp:

finished reading the story on Action Park .... wild stuff! The movie I recommended The Way, Way Back is a fun story set in a New England water park
  10:37pm sufferwords:

Gus Van Sandt - Last Days - maybe not the same facts but the same truth
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm Phillippe Bastille:

@carmichael well put. Pretty much what I should've said had I given my post any thought. I agree, it was just another part of the landscape.
  10:38pm Carmichael:

Now Kirsty McKoll wrenched my heart out. I cant explain why, exactly.
  10:39pm sim:

There was a Nick Hornby novel that has a bit about Cobain's death and it's effect on a teen aged girl. she was aloof and ironic, then she got the news and she broke down.
Avatar 10:40pm Therese:

That was in "About a Boy," I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm Phillippe Bastille:

Good night all. Thanks Therese
  10:44pm sim:

I think you're right, Miz Therese.
  10:47pm sim:

But it was Alison Pearson's "I Think I Love You" about a girl's crush on David Cassidy that taught me how important pop stars can be.
  10:47pm Choggie:

Am I the only one? Does Townes Van Zandt music all sound the same???
  10:48pm Choggie:

.....makes me wanna abuse barbituates
  10:48pm Carmichael:

A good friend named Scott Miller also ended his life at his own choice. He had a great band called Game Theory, and I played in a rival group at the time. It was a wild era.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm PMD:

Thanks for the show! Listening live...
  10:49pm sim:

Pfft, barbiturates. Ambien and 10 hours sleep in a bed with 1000 thread count sheets.
  10:52pm Carmichael:

Ha ha, sim. Melatonin and a comforter.
  10:54pm sim:

Vodka and sweatpants and a couch streaming YouTube videos
  10:55pm Choggie:

....fat bowl of the stank and some good scotch
  10:55pm Carmichael:

Sim for the win!
  10:56pm ?:

Loving the show tonight (as usual).
  11:02pm sim:

fave Kronos: Doom. A Sigh
Avatar 11:04pm northguineahills:

Game Theory, I've heard that band (here at WFMU if my mind works)….
Avatar 11:12pm northguineahills:

Thanks, Therese, signing off to watch the Milford Graves doc. Buenas noches!
Avatar 11:33pm Adamsworth:

I forgot how incredible Dr. John can be! That song was sooo good!
Avatar 11:42pm Adamsworth:

I really liked that Dum Dum Girls cover too, it's a song I have heard so many times it's sometimes hard to actually hear....they did a great job putting their own thing on it
  11:44pm rw:

Therese! I have that weird loop here too. I hear you in this room and then because of buffering you're in the other room three seconds later. The difference is I'm not talking so it's not super distracting. Thank you for the radio!!
  11:49pm phat:

that weyes blood track was gorgeous
