easy listening Brandy. Though the original was also easy listening. But I love it.

Today in music trivia. Fountains of Wayne's fabulous 2nd record, UTOPIA PARKWAY, was released 20 years ago to-day, 4/6/99. Time flies, and stuff.

Carts all eventually need TLC. Of course, so do computers and servers.

I've serviced them for decades. Not real popular these days but my heart has a soft spot for them. Radio wouldn't have happened without them...

True. I have nostalgia for my mix tapes too, but I won't voluntarily go near a cassette when I can rip a CD or load a playlist. They don't melt .

It's not often I wait to finish some tasks, then boot up and log in to throw a discouraging word about something a half hour earlier, but...that version of "Brandy" you opened with was overwrought, UNeasy listening, sorry.

So true Listener Robert! That song s a one of a kind. Hopefully we'll hear the real one soon. ;)

Lol..i remembered from growing up. I also have a database of the mike Douglas show handy and confirmed it in two min. The Douglas show is one of the greatest libraries that still is mostly under lock and key. Raspberries performing “go all the way” is on YouTube but lots of great stuff (like Beach Boys) hasn’t been seen in decades

A lot of people might not know but Major Lance's daughter is mayor of Atlanta.
Avatar 12:13pm
Sid:

From wiki - "Jennifer Eccles was written by members of The Hollies with input from their wives and the title is a combination of their names (Allan Clarke's wife Jennifer nee Bowstead and Graham Nash's wife from 64 to 66 was Rose nee Eccles) and after criticism of "King Midas in Reverse" and was a return to the popular format that had been commercially successful though not necessarily lyrically sophisticated." So it was a forced return to the pop template.

Bill in W.O.:

@Sid, Gene Simmons, always a gent.
  12:23pm
DG:

The Mike Douglas shows were shown on VH-1 in the '90s on that "Archives" show they had for awhile (back when they were a music station). They'd show clips, or sometimes entire shows (they aired the whole John & Yoko-hosting week later at night, I think--I know I taped them). I did a story on that for a TV magazine & interviewed Bill Flanagan, who told me about all the incredible stuff they had (maybe not all of it got into the show). Not sure if you can get the MD shows now.

Avatar 12:26pm

It's a nightmare getting clearances for the old talk shows to air today. One of the nostalgia cable nets ran Johnny Carson for awhile - took them over a year to get a year's worth of shows cleared for broadcast.
  12:29pm
DG:

Is it because of the music rights, or is it a matter of dealing with the Carson, Douglas, etc. estates? VH-1 didn't show Carson stuff, but "Archives" definitely showed Douglas, Dick Cavett, and maybe some other talk show clips.
