Avatar 3:18pm Listening Out There:

Great tuba. Not many bandleaders that play tuba out there, eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Greetings, Irwin and virtual listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey Queems, were you listening to Irwin's remixes last week when you were driving across New Mexico? I was wondering if you thought the aliens had arrived and taken over your radio
Avatar 3:24pm Fredericks:

Mast is one impressive outfit. I've liked everything I've heard by them. Everything I've heard by them has been curated by Mr. Chusid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm zopa:

Irwin, do you ever play a song more than one in your show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Yes:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Kat in Chicago:

The talkover music sounds strangely familiar, I just can't place it :)
  3:26pm djsheilab:

Tuned in just in time for your new bed music!

The customer is always right, except in this case.
Avatar 3:28pm Irwin:

Thank you again, Sheila! MWAH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Gord:

@djsheilab — Admit it — you tuned in today half expecting to hear more John Mayer, didn't you?
Avatar 3:32pm Irwin:

Avatar 3:35pm βrian:

Is there such a thing as futon music?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Alison Porchnik:

sleeping bag and a bed roll music

@DJsheliab you are enjoying tormenting Irwin:)
Avatar 3:43pm βrian:

Now, hammock music I could sway to.

I truly miss the torture that was Incorrect Music!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm queems:

this is one of my favorite songs. interesting take on it
  4:05pm John in Bklyn:

@queems Yes! The vocals sound like Beck in one channel and Frank Zappa in the other.
  4:05pm John Delorean:

@Phillippe: Amen, brother.
Avatar 4:06pm Irwin:

'Twas Howe Gelb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Sigurður:

I'm wondering how many misread 'affectation as 'affection'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Carmichael:

Nice vibe there, Wanda.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Ike:

I love just about any song called "Hippies", or about hippies, because hippies are funny.
Avatar 4:26pm AnAnonymousParty:

All my good toys have Gibson and Marshall written on them.

- from Neal's Heavy Concept Album...
Avatar 4:29pm James Douglas:

Irwin, Beware, Andy is secretly taping you for an episode of his latest fail on TBS, Misery Index. Your misery will likely be palpable.
Avatar 4:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hippies :
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm rsj:

i hope that's not replacing tussle
  4:43pm brian in New Orleans:

Richie!.....He's my dad in law.

I'll stream this for Bekah later.

Great Guy...He is missed.
Avatar 4:44pm Irwin:

Brian - Agreed. Such an amazing, soulful vocalist. Singular voice, no one sounds like him.
Avatar 4:49pm Listening Out There:

I liked Richie Havens' version of Here Comes the Sun...
Avatar 4:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Never dialed it in.
1st performer @ Woodstock before they had stuff up for the electric acts.
...Went to see the film in my callow youth - on more acid than I understood...RichieHavens melted me - in public - from the opener
...speaking of gawdam hippies...
Avatar 4:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Raiders sounding like Archies. Huh.
Avatar 4:50pm Listening Out There:

Anyone know if Hal Blaine played on the Paul Revere?
  4:51pm Brian in New Orleans:

He was very genuine and caring. I wish I got to know him more. He was planning on moving here with us in New Orleans...Funny thing is ...he lived in Jersey City! Near Fmu DJ Scott if I remember Scott Correctly
Avatar 4:51pm Irwin:

Always thought PR&R played their own instruments. Good musicians and terrific vocalists.
Avatar 4:53pm Listening Out There:

Thought so too, but amongst the recent obits I saw that Blaine played on a track of theirs...
  4:53pm Brian in New Orleans:

it is also true he made up the final version of "Freedom" when he opened Woodstock ....The next band "Groundhogs"? were stuck in traffic LOL ...He kept being asked to go back onstage. His ashes are spread over the grounds where Woodstock was.
Avatar 4:54pm Listening Out There:

Here's one. Not the one I heard, but it's one o' them: bestclassicbands.com...
Avatar 4:55pm Listening Out There:

Ah. Found it. Blaine also played on "Kicks."
Avatar 4:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- & great rekkids, Raiders.
Hal is somewhere on three Albums in my Top20 Ever: 'Forever Changes', 'Pet Sounds Sessions', bYRdS' debut...If not more!
They say 35,000+ tracks !! Astronomical.
Avatar 4:55pm mb:

Avatar 4:56pm Listening Out There:

Paul Revere was a fun band indeed. I liked Fang.
Avatar 4:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- & it finally dawned on me what a Blaine fan Keith Moon was. Significantly.
Avatar 5:02pm Irwin:

RRN63 - Is it true Keith didn't use a hi-hat? Early on, anyway?
Avatar 5:03pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Dennis Diken said that's overstated ? - ?
Avatar 5:04pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...he was no Funkster like Bonzo...more Wagnerian...
Avatar 5:04pm qe1`3:

The Sunwatchers seem to be everywhere lately. Might just be where I hang out. Whatever the reason, I am fine with it.
Avatar 5:05pm Irwin:

Keith was of the bash-anything-that's-in-reach school of drumming.
Avatar 5:06pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

In the Who doc 'Amazing Journey' - guy says that when Keith went to the solo - he'd change to the other bass pedal: apparently the equivalent of a gittarist flipping the gittar over...Not a conventional human being.
Avatar 5:06pm qe1`3:

My name changed. I am fine with it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Guido from Cologne:

Great cover art:
Avatar 5:08pm qe1`3:

Irwin do hear any Keith Moon in Grant Hart's drumming with Husker Du?
Avatar 5:09pm Irwin:

Keith was one of those all-too-common drummers who took solos while the other musicians were playing.
Avatar 5:11pm Irwin:

That said, I admired his style.
Avatar 5:12pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Well - ask Townshend how he felt about that...
I wonder what Du might've sounded like w/out Who...
Avatar 5:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...since we both acknowledge MitchMitchell so much - I'll just let that pass...
Avatar 5:13pm qe1`3:

Guido from Cologne: Jeez, that is something. Electric Kool-aid Juggalo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Guido from Cologne:

I think it's a fun idea to leave time-keeping to the others while surf-swirling and it was part of the very special dynamics.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Woah, Jimmy McCulloch's Wings song.
Avatar 5:15pm qe1`3:

Lemmy said he considered Entwhistle a lead guitarist.
Avatar 5:15pm qe1`3:

Wish more Wings songs sounded like this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Guido from Cologne:

a lead-bassist
Avatar 5:16pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

TheWho were kinda inside-out. Yeah.
& Rawk w/out the Roll, mostly.
Avatar 5:20pm Irwin:

Reuben with some smokin' BBQ beats.
  5:20pm John from Florham Park:

I once asked someone why would The Who smash all their stuff during their concerts, they told me that it was cheaper stuff not the expensive stuff they use in the studios
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Mr. Pumpy:

Hi, Irwin. Great show today...as per usual. Long live Joe Frank!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm CJ@Shawnee OH:

Corned beef hash. Hold the corned beef :0
Avatar 5:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

They were reportedly half a million dollars (pounds?) in debt before 'Tommy'. Townshend always said he intended them to self-destruct as his sort of Art School concept...until kids told him his songs spoke for them...& the checks came in...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm common:

Good day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Little Danny:

Another tasteful, gorgeous Melvin Sparks solo
  5:27pm C’villeBrian:

Very cool groove. Thank you Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Mr. Pumpy:

The bass drum sound on that Reuben Wilson track was really pumping my cajones!
Avatar 5:31pm Listening Out There:

Ha! Johnston's gone from a Microscopic band to a Transparent one. 'Course, he is down in Australia now, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

They're referring to the band Faust or some other Faust?
Avatar 5:36pm Listening Out There:

...a bagpipe break, no less...
Avatar 5:38pm Jeff Moore:

Oh, yeah – Johnson and now WFMU Drummer-stream DJ Dave Sewelson were both linchpins of the Micros.

I trust everyone has been listening to Dave's excellent show? He has amazing musical guests – with whom he talks, plays selected recorded pieces, and usually blows live.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Almost time for the Captain!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Mr. Pumpy:

Van Vliet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Guido from Cologne:

Not the best mono mix of Zig Zag Wanderer.
Where is the voice?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Oops...Meant Always!
Avatar 5:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Don't think the Captain needed ArtSchool...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Mr. Pumpy:

@ Little Danny...I was fortunate enough to catch Melvin Sparks at The Stanhope house about 20 years back. It was insane! Long live Sparks!
  5:48pm Andrea in Jersey City:

  5:50pm ed:

why do people feel a need to cover songs done much better by the original artist?
Avatar 5:52pm Irwin:

Maybe Sara just loves the song so much she wanted to sing a version. Honor the songwriter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm zpulpa:

@ed, cuz they have a good, fun, powerful time doing so and can share that song with their own fans, friends, whatever, maybe? idk
Avatar 5:53pm Irwin:

Are any Beatles covers better than the originals?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Phillippe Bastille:

Nice set Irwin. Loved the whole show, actually, even the bed music. Thank you for putting this together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm zpulpa:

it seems like Irwin's shows act as the invisible quotation marks around the word Better..
Avatar 5:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

a.) Singing it anyway.
b.) Show they can.
c.) Occasionally show other aspects of it.
Avatar 5:57pm Undead83:

This was a powerful show, indeed
  5:57pm ed:

I was just curious. At least Sara didn't do it in that super slow wispy/wimpy singing style way that sooo many other singers have been doing to covers lately.
Avatar 5:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

e.) Acknowledge connection.
f.) Spotlight composition by separating it from a particular performance...
Avatar 5:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...there is no d.) ...
Thx IC !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm G:

d. Give people something to gripe about
