	♥ 4:29pm Rich in Washington: The first NEW 7" record I ever bought (maybe other than those Scholastic records you'd buy through school) was The Residents Satisfaction. I didn't even know what the Residents sounded like. I just blindly mail ordered it because it sounded cool in writing.

	♥ 4:32pm Rich in Washington: It was incredibly mindblowing for me. I didn't immediately like it, but was sort of horrified by how weird it was and then I was hooked. It also made me realize that I have really peculiar music tastes which my friends did not understand at all.

	4:33pm Otis Fodder: First record I bought with my own money (mowing lawns to flyering cars) was Bowie's Let's Dance on 7" at 14. Remember that well going to the record shop in San Diego. Before that it's a blur with parents helping to buy or gifts or whatnot... but def in the late 70s I wanted very Blondie, ELO, Led Zep, and Moodies release +++. Kids records from Banana Splits to Roosevelt Franklin were before thanks to my cool parents.

	♥ 4:41pm Rich in Washington: A lot of my earliest 'album' buying experiences were the $5.99 bin at Musicland (later subsumed by Sam Goody), but on cassette, because I didn't own a record player until my sister gave me her old one when I was probably 15 or so.
	4:41pm Linda Lee: here's what i'm wondering about: since our first conscious sense is hearing, does music touch us more deeply than other media? apparently we're hearing and responding to sound vibrations in utero.

Before that it's a blur with parents helping to buy or gifts or whatnot... but def in the late 70s I wanted very Blondie, ELO, Led Zep, and Moodies release +++. Kids records from Banana Splits to Roosevelt Franklin were before thanks to my cool parents.
