@Linda Lee-I thought your comment about some girl having crossed eyes was hilarious the other day. You were really on a roll! I think the DJ was playing really syrupy sappy love songs.

yeah - the only time a deejay knew he had a following is if he did a remote from a car dealership on saturday. but then maybe they showed up because the new ramblers for '64 came into the showroom and they were in a lather.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am WFMU listener WADE:

Man. What a sad bit of news. I didn't learn of his passing until the evening yesterday after I got home from work. I started crying during "Sunday Will Never Be Same." I can't claim to have known X-Ray Burns. To those who knew him well and loved him, my heart goes out to you.

Kudos and thanks to WFMU for being possibly the most real form entertainment out there.
  9:32am Brendan:

@Joe, I promise not pop a vein and get all Newport Folk Fest when you go electric with the set. These acoustic intros perfect.

So true, dale. You can't explain to a pet that their "parent" is gone. He was a kindhearted soul underneath and made me smile at his outrageousness. I wasn't a big fan of the show but X-Ray and Jonesy would draw a belly-laugh out of me from time to time.
Avatar 9:59am Linda Lee:

Hello Joe et. al,
Did you know that FMU's own Seven Second Delay had an episode way back where they tried to reunite a 'one hit wonder' band? They ended up tracking down the lead singer from the Cyrkle, and getting him to sing part of "Red Rubber Ball" Here's a link to that episode from the archives (it's from 11/06/2002) Enjoy!

I played the undertones for my kid when she was 4 and her response was, "why are all these songs about girls?" I had to break it to her that some of the songs were about chocolate (but different from Prince songs about chocolate)
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 11:14am karlward:

When I think of you, Joe, the first thing I think of is the word "distorto."
Avatar 11:15am Joe McG:

@karl: Ha ha ha! Not "The Blues"?
  11:16am Mikey K.:

For what it's worth, here's a lazy cut and paste about what "bippy" means. I missed what you said about someone whose last name is Buzzio. On Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, there was a comedian named Ruth Buzzi. Maybe a connection there?
Anyway keep on truckin', brother. Hang in there!

It's from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, a zany television show from the late 1960s.

The word bippy, by the way, means “butt.” The phrase “You bet your sweet bippy” is a linguistic descendant of earlier versions that go back to at least the 1880s, when phrases like “You bet your sweet life” were commonly used.
Avatar 11:17am Joe McG:

@Mikey: Cool, Mikey, it all makes sense!
