Found an auction for 2000lbs of used records (not counted weighed), buy it now price was just $100. The only problem is I'd have to rent a U-Haul and drive 5 hours to collect it and then I'd have to figure out where to store it while I sorted through a literal ton of records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am NotARealDoctor:

Looking through online auctions can be a dangerous endeavor.
Avatar 10:02am Linda Lee:

NARD, that sounds like a long term van rental. wouldn't buy anything i can't have a peek at. it might be 3 recordings!
  10:04am Pete:

Hey Joe! Where ya goin' with that Sundays record in your hand? Show's sounding great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am NotARealDoctor:

They had photos of the unsorted rubbermaid totes (not included in purchase) and it was definitely a mixture of all sorts of records from pop to punk to soul to rap to gospel.
Avatar 10:05am Joe McG:

@Pete: I know! I forgot it was Monday!
Avatar 10:07am Linda Lee:

what happened? record store go under? you'd definitely have multiples there. same with a distributor. a radio station would be better.
  10:08am Pete:

@Joe: Haha!
Avatar 10:08am Cheri Pi:

Nice one, Hello Joe
Avatar 10:10am Linda Lee:

i'd still have a look before i shelled out. the storage issues alone! you'd best really want what you're buying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am NotARealDoctor:

Indeed, Linda Lee, not quite sure it was being sold by a thrift store, so I think it must be something like that. I'd never really be able to deal with it. But I must admit it's tempting just for the sheer joy of discovery.
Avatar 10:12am Linda Lee:

@Mike: I know, it was a bigger hit than the original! @joe: Great idea!
Avatar 10:45am duke:

@Joe. They put on a great live show. At the time the York/Harrisburg PA area was filled with soul bands. The Mag Men were the only ones who made it semi-big.

Today's show hits four or five different kinds of sweet spots, then starts the series over again. Spit-take (Newley, Alice Cooper), best-songs-ever (Sundays, Lords of the New Church), fresh-baked (Gunn, Tyler, Kero Kero), and AAAHHH (Lai, Cher).

Stiv gave a beautiful performance as Bobo in John Waters's "Polyester"
  10:54am Bill W:

FUN FACT: In the '70s, my grandma pronounced Cher's name as "churr."
  10:55am melinda:

@John haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Hughie Considine:

@Bill W, I bet she had a nice way of saying Sade.

keep your pants on! both of you!
Avatar 10:57am Joe McG:

@karl: At least they didn't say his erect piano.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am joe:

Wow I think Alice Cooper just got 20 years older since your last break :)

Graham's bandcamp: grahambrice.bandcamp.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am paul b:

Graham's vocals remind me a bit of Nick Saloman at times -- which is a complement because I like the Bevis Frond.
Avatar 11:25am Joe McG:

I hear that, paul! I hear some Costello in there, too, I think. Maybe even a little Kevin Ayers, if he were an indie rocker!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am maestroso:

I hear a little bit of Richard Thompson too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am ChrisB.:

I'm hearing Wesley Stace in the solo stuff. Nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Brian in UK:

I'm hearing Graham Brice.
Avatar 11:29am Joe McG:

Very nicely put, Brian. :)
Avatar 11:30am James Douglas:

Reminds me of Pete Townshend! (Compliment)
Avatar 11:31am Hoboken Jack:

@chrisb was also going to mention John Wesley Harding!
  11:32am Brendan:

I know a guy who knows a guy who can do that identity thing . For a price.
Avatar 11:32am Hoboken Jack:

And if course Stace was compared to Costello early on, and the world keeps spinning....
Avatar 11:33am Joe McG:

John Wesley Harding also had that rich voice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Brian in UK:

John Peel sessons remembered. Miss him still.
Avatar 11:39am Joe McG:

Wow, Brian, what a very nice compliment! Thank you.
Avatar 11:39am Wild Neil||Peace All:

@steveo-one of the kids in The Wire (McNulty's kids) was listeing to something really heavy. McNulty walks in (he's got them for visitation that weekend) and he says"What's that?" and they go "Dead Meadow". I was kinda impressed. That was as good a TV moment as The Dickies on CPO Sharkey back in the 70's.
  11:40am Brendan:

Hearing some Joe Jackson chord changes in the mix too
Avatar 11:41am Joe McG:

@Brendan: Graham has a very nice mix of influences that he's assimilated so beautifully.
Avatar 11:41am Marshall Stacks:

Wow, I'm really enjoying Graham Brice's music, singing and songwriting both.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am Mike Sin:

@Brendan -- I was about to say the same thing! That singing along with the descending changes reminded of that '80-era Joe Jackson. @Joe McG -- Man, this "Ask Me To" is a helleuva track to be recorded for your show! It's fabulous!
  11:46am davefromtoronto:
