Avatar 3:06pm Otis Fodder:

I have some good dinner music for the next hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This track is gorgeous btw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm chresti:

I had the Honey West game, when I was about 8 or 9
Avatar 3:07pm Mr Fab:

Hi Otis yes my Friday is going swell.
In fact it's practically swollen!
Avatar 3:08pm Otis Fodder:

There was a Honey West game?! Wow!
Avatar 3:08pm Otis Fodder:

Like my tooth and throat here. My weekend plans will now be couch and blanket good times.
  3:09pm Martinibomb:

Sorry about the tooth! My partner in crime is dealing with the same thing right now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Jan Turkenburg:

In Zwolle all is swell too now :-)
Avatar 3:10pm Otis Fodder:

Listerine, salt/water, hoping no emergency dentist visit. Head elevated too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Jan Turkenburg:

ow... fingers crossed, Otis
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm chresti:

Saltwater works wonders, ibuprofen, too
  3:15pm Martinibomb:

i think you can dilute a little hydrogen peroxide into the listerine too
Avatar 3:15pm Mr Fab:

Yeah! Those early space age Ferrante and Teicher albums are just kookoo-bananas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm chresti:

I also had an Adams Family card game
Avatar 3:17pm Otis Fodder:

ibuprofen, check. hy-prox in listerine, will try that!
Avatar 3:17pm Otis Fodder:

I love classic board games. Never bored.
Avatar 3:18pm Mr Fab:

Would love an addams Family game! We had a Lost in Space board game. Probly worth a fortune now.
Avatar 3:20pm Otis Fodder:

The percussion/panning on Jungle Drums is wild. Love those Phase4 60s albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Jan Turkenburg:

Ibuprofren can work wonders indeed, but has sometimes nasty side-effects when used in combination with other medication, so be carefull
Avatar 3:20pm Otis Fodder:

Need to play more Command/Project3 on the show.
Avatar 3:21pm Otis Fodder:

Totally, thanks Jan.
Avatar 3:21pm Otis Fodder:

I like all my bird calls 6db above the mix.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Jan Turkenburg:

ah, they're not part of the record?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm chresti:

I sometimes have a little coconut oil for mouth/dental irritation
Avatar 3:23pm Otis Fodder:

They are on the record. I once had a section for songs with animal sounds but nowadays it's all A-Z.
Avatar 3:23pm Otis Fodder:

Coconut is good for so many things.
Avatar 3:24pm Mr Fab:

I'm always adding percuasion/exotica to the stream, am a big fan of the bongos-n-bird calls genre, so go for it Otis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Jan Turkenburg:

camomille desinfects as well, but does not help in severe cases
Avatar 3:25pm grantbob:

mmm... Coco Lopez.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you :-)
Avatar 3:28pm Mr Fab:

Anyone ever been to Trader Sams in the Disneyland Hotel? Tropical drinks, animatronics a la the Enchanted Tiki Room, barstools that can drop you down to the floor. Real nutty place, i hear. Hoping to visit soon.
  3:28pm ?:

Oooh, tuned in just in time for the props there....forgot I turned you on to the Phil Kraus!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm chresti:

Explorer's Room on GTD Thursdays, has been having library music shows, too
Avatar 3:30pm Otis Fodder:

Oh yea?! Thanks Chresti, will check out archives.
  3:30pm Adam O'Callaghan:

how does this work....?
Avatar 3:30pm Otis Fodder:

? (Adam)... yes you did turn me on to the early Phil Kraus. I only knew his work with Bob Rosengarden.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm chresti:

Avatar 3:31pm Mr Fab:

I totally covet Explorers Room. One show i would poach for Sheenas if i could.
Avatar 3:31pm Otis Fodder:

Percussion Playful and Pretty by Bob and Phil, still looking for that one in vinyl bins.
Avatar 3:32pm Mr Fab:

How does what work Adam?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm chresti:

Avatar 3:32pm Otis Fodder:

Explorers Room = NICE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm chresti:

I'm not sure those links work...
  3:33pm Adam O'Callaghan:

Avatar 3:34pm Otis Fodder:

Adam - Gooble Gobble One of Us
Avatar 3:34pm Mr Fab:

Ah, go up to the upper right to register
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Rich in Washington:

A coworker was telling me about an upscale retirement community in central Oregon that's so huge, it has its own FCC licensed radio station.
Avatar 3:35pm Otis Fodder:

Rich - That's where we can all go retire and have radio shows!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

John Cameron! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Rich in Washington:

It's were really well-heeled geezers go to retire. Like a sprawling complex of giant luxury condos. Sounds almost Cronenbergian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

He was one of the KPM All Stars I saw at the British Library last year :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

John Cameron - not David Cronenberg ;-)
Avatar 3:38pm Otis Fodder:

Love both Cameron and Cronenberg.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The playlist today is outstanding!
Avatar 3:41pm Otis Fodder:

Thanks Georgy!
Avatar 3:43pm AdamOooh:

So much great music....beautiful audio quality here too, sounds good Otis!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm chresti:

Is the image from Sunset magazine?
Avatar 3:50pm Otis Fodder:

Chresti - The image is from this archive site, bottom row, left side,
Fantastic archive, AdSausage. Good quality images as well. I have so many future show image ideas here. Ha. I mean, this one is from a section just for Bathrooms. There is broadcasting too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Woof Moo just posted this - yum!!! www.nps.gov...
  3:53pm Martinibomb:

whoa interesting version of get carter I thought I had all the advisory circle stuff.. I don't remember this one tho
Avatar 3:53pm Otis Fodder:

Ooooh, parks. Bookmarked.
  3:53pm Martinibomb:

oh it's stereolab.. whoops..now the playlist updated :-)
Avatar 3:54pm Otis Fodder:

Great version of Budd. Hard to top or equal the OG soundtrack.
  3:55pm Martinibomb:

I've never heard this version for whatever reason. thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Jan Turkenburg:

wow, one fenomenable track after another!
Avatar 4:00pm Otis Fodder:

Thanks Jan - Doing something different on this week's show. Rather than completely planning nothing and winging it, I'm setting aside albums in various sets/orders pre-show. Thinking about what I might play now, think it shows a bit in the flow, hope so.
  4:01pm Martinibomb:

Best Sterolab show I ever saw was at Reed College - Mouse on Mars played with them and there was no stage it was in the middle of a room and everyone just stood around them. And I'd smoked some marijuana -- best time ever
Avatar 4:01pm Otis Fodder:

This set is for Adam listening. Hey man, let's go to Lebanon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm chresti:

Thanks Otis, great! Lots of great ads.
Enjoying the show, too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Webhamster Henry:

Uska Dara, as sung by Eartha Kitt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm chresti:

Girls Of Iskandariah sounded a bit like "If I Were a Rich Man"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm Webhamster Henry:

Adsausage can show you device I listen to WFMU's streams with:
Avatar 4:11pm Otis Fodder:

Henry, nice!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's gotten really cold here in the UK, it's dark outside (about 9:15 pm) and I have that comfy/heavy after dinner feeling ... And all this music is a perfect soundtrack.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Webhamster Henry:

Was there ever a Quebecois cover Je T'Aime, ...Mois Non Plus?
Avatar 4:19pm Otis Fodder:

Hmmm, not sure. Probably, instrumental but haven't personally run across one here yet.
Avatar 4:27pm Don-O:

The singers in the background makes this track. I wonder if they're sober....
Avatar 4:28pm Otis Fodder:

Les Charlots - Well known comedy troupe in France.
Avatar 4:30pm Otis Fodder:

More on Les Charlots - they have some really funny 7" singles from the late 60s/early 70s - en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 4:37pm Mr Fab:

This tune's massive! I'm picturing some kind of belly dancer-as-blaxploitation hero kinda scene here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm chresti:

Avatar 4:40pm Otis Fodder:

This whole album by Mustafa Özkent is killer and the Jackpot reissue is perfection on wax.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Rich in Washington:

Jackpot reissues are really good. Their store is a bit limited in selection for my tastes.
Avatar 4:46pm Otis Fodder:

Never been to the shop, but they did good with Silver Apples and West Coast Pop reissues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm chresti:

There is also a Jamaican Jackpot label
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm chresti:

Wow to this...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Rich in Washington:

I bought their Cromagnon Cave Rock reissue a couple of years ago. It's pretty good.
Avatar 4:53pm Oliverrr:

They also did some nifty Jandek reissues years back ! .. and Cromagnon !
(Hi Otis !)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Rich in Washington:

I think I have some of the Jackpot Jandek reissues, too, now that you mention it.
Avatar 4:54pm Otis Fodder:

Oh yea, want that Cromagnon reissue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Rich in Washington:

The store keeps showing up on those 'best record stores in the US', etc. Not sure why. I guess it's sort of the newbie 'vinyls' aficionado's idea of a cool, urban store. Not to knock them, but there are so many better stores in town.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm chresti:

This is nice and nuts...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Webhamster Henry:

Oh man, this needs to go Broadway!
Life should imitate the Simpsons!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Rich in Washington:

This whole part of Beneath really freaked me out as a kid.
Avatar 4:57pm Otis Fodder:

Makes me want to do the marathon of classic Apes movies again. Did it 20 years back. It's time!
Avatar 4:58pm Otis Fodder:

This part of the soundtrack reminds me a bit of David Axelrod's Earth Rot.
Avatar 4:58pm Otis Fodder:

Huge Magma nut. Finally playing them on the show. Starting with the 1st album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Rich in Washington:

I know! I want to do that, too! I remember one of our local stations doing an Ape movie every weekday afternoon
on something they called Ape Week on 8.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Rich in Washington:

That's funny. Magma always reminded me of that Oh Mighty Bomb scene.
Avatar 5:00pm Otis Fodder:

If anyone speaks Kobaïan, time to sing along.
Avatar 5:00pm Otis Fodder:

Yea Rich, that's why I pulled out Magma... I was like, Magma next!!!
  5:06pm Martinibomb:

Yes Magma! It's magma time whooo hooo
Avatar 5:07pm Mr Fab:

the first Magma album is the only one I've heard all the way thru. my sad confession.
Avatar 5:08pm Otis Fodder:

It's a killer start and a perfect place to go forward with Magma. The first 4 albums are gold.
Avatar 5:09pm Archivist Vivian:

Hello. My attic floor was making sounds that made me think it would cave in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm -Ken:

Afternoon everybody! Always great to tune in and hearing Kobaian
Avatar 5:09pm Archivist Vivian:

I woke up late, otherwise I would have came on time.
Avatar 5:10pm Otis Fodder:

Hey Ken! No Magma excerpts here, full tracks of glory!
Avatar 5:10pm Otis Fodder:

Hey Viv!
Avatar 5:12pm Archivist Vivian:

This is what I love. Early electronic music. This is absolutely divine.
Avatar 5:13pm Archivist Vivian:

This reminds me of early Jean-Michel Jarre.
Eros Machine, La Cage.
  5:15pm Martinibomb:

reading up on this Jean Hoyoux album... says there were 99 copies pressed originally with some intense art? Is that right?
Avatar 5:15pm Mr Fab:

*stands up and salutes* Greetings, Ken!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hello! :-)
Avatar 5:16pm Archivist Vivian:

Avatar 5:18pm Otis Fodder:

Nice article on Jean Hoyoux and his private press album, thewordmagazine.com...
Avatar 5:20pm Archivist Vivian:

Reading that up right now. Really fascinating.
  5:20pm Martinibomb:

This is the one I was just reading. You must have the reissue.. can't imagine you could find something where there was only 99 copies
Avatar 5:21pm Archivist Vivian:

Mort Garson! Yes!
  5:21pm Martinibomb:

Avatar 5:22pm Otis Fodder:

I have the reissue, totally, official reissue uses the same Cortizona label, www.discogs.com...
Avatar 5:22pm Otis Fodder:

Mort and Jacques, yes!
Avatar 5:25pm Archivist Vivian:

I'll have to listen to the rest of the Hoyoux LP later.
Avatar 5:36pm Mr Fab:

Sheena's Jungle Room needs a planetarium!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Let's put it on the top floor by the radio tower! :-)
Avatar 5:37pm Otis Fodder:

I'm there!
Avatar 5:39pm Archivist Vivian:

I wish I had one of those disco ball things with the colourful lights. I'd just let it go in my room, have some cold tea, and listen to this.
Avatar 5:39pm Don-O:

I'm currently watch a hamster going through a maze while listening to this. Makes damned sense.
Avatar 5:40pm Archivist Vivian:

I am not very familiar with Kingsley's work besides Music To Moog By.
Avatar 5:41pm Mr Fab:

Well now who needs a planetarium when you've got a hamster-tarium?

Vivian please tell me you at least know Perrey & Kingsley? You just mean his solo stuff?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Excellent show! Thank you for a fantastic playlist and please get some rest.
Avatar 5:43pm Mr Fab:

as his solo stuff goes, his Gershwin-goes-Moog album is, oddly enough, probably his best. Bob Moog himself agrees with me on that one.
Avatar 5:43pm Archivist Vivian:

I know Perrey & Kingsley, of course.
Avatar 5:43pm Archivist Vivian:

I've just only heard Kingsley's solo works.
Avatar 5:43pm grantbob:

Thanks Otis!
Avatar 5:44pm Otis Fodder:

Picking up the pace now to bring us into Don-O's show top of the hour. Some funky 7" singles.
Avatar 5:44pm Don-O:

Rest 'rm chords!!
Avatar 5:44pm Archivist Vivian:

And Perrey's solo works, for that matter.
Avatar 5:45pm Archivist Vivian:

Bummed I missed most of the show, but got some LPs to look up now thanks to what I did hear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Rich in Washington:

I recently picked up a bunch of early Moody Blues records. They've really grown on me.
Avatar 5:46pm Otis Fodder:

Rich, such great records.
Avatar 5:47pm Mr Fab:

Man, I've been lovin' today's shows. Y'all been killin it!
  5:48pm Martinibomb:

Can't believe the show is over almost - just goes by so fast
Avatar 5:49pm Archivist Vivian:

This is totally unrelated, but I have been looking more into the solo works of singer Mishio Ogawa, who was part of a progressive/new-wavey band called Chakra in the 70s and 80s. If you haven't heart Chakra's record "Satekoso", you are missing out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Rich in Washington:

I think there was this prog-rock snob thing about MB, where they were considered too pop for the cool kids. I actually like their stuff, especially the first three album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Rich in Washington:

I guess that's what I like about this stream and its shows - no 'guilty pleasures'. We're all guilty!
Avatar 5:51pm Otis Fodder:

Moodies, like ELO, were never 'cool' when I was in school. At that time, they were guilty pleasures as a kid. And totally, now, no guilty pleasures.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Rich in Washington:

That sounds interesting, Archivist Vivian!
Avatar 5:51pm Archivist Vivian:

Guilty. As in the Mike Oldfield song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Rich in Washington:

I listened to Out of the Blue over and over as a kid, and secretly liked Xanadu.
Avatar 5:52pm Otis Fodder:

Or the Barry-Barbara duet, Guilty.
Avatar 5:53pm Don-O:

I was fortunate enough that I loved Xanadu so much that a lot of the kids in school ignored me....to a point.
Avatar 5:53pm Otis Fodder:

Me too Rich. Could not admit to anyone liking Xanadu in the early 80s, I actually would have the tape in another area of my backpack, not next to stuff like Maiden or Zep.
Avatar 5:54pm Don-O:

'Guilty', title track, a cool guilty pleasure!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Same in the UK - ELO were not seen as cool at all! Which is ridiculous as they're bloody brilliant :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Rich in Washington:

I wasn't ignored because of my musical taste until 8th grade, when I declared my love for Devo. I remember getting into minor fisticuffs at recess over it.
Avatar 5:56pm Don-O:

The World's Fair tour is coming in 5 minutes! TOOT! TOOT! www.wfmu.org...
Avatar 5:57pm Archivist Vivian:
