Great overtone drone going on with this piece. Sounds like a second musician banging on a melodic drum, but no. Only one solitary fiddler here.

Avatar 10:19am hyde:

i wonder if i know Blue Tango from Warner Bros cartoons. like Syncopated Clock and The Typewriter
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:20am Uncle Michael:

I watch a lot of Brit police procedurals and and detective shows. When I find a series to watch, I'll start at the beginning. Sometimes that means I get to watch the advance of technology in compressed time. Say going from the '90s to the present day in a matter of a month or two. One of the most fascinating things is seeing how television deals with not-yet-ubiquitous contemporary technology...making it explicable to people that haven't yet adopted it. It's not uncommon, for example, in the era of mid-'90s flip phones for a person just hung up on, to hear an audible dial-tone through the earpiece...something that never was...as though it were a landline. Fudging the foley to indicate something in a manner that would seem absurd today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Doug Schulkind:

@hyde
Yes, the flip side of the Decca release "Belle of the Ball" from 1952!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:20am Uncle Michael:

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:21am Brian in UK:

Tom Waits features in one of the vignettes in the Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Doug Schulkind:

Tom Waits for no one, Brian in UK.
Avatar 10:24am hyde:

@UM funny, i was watching the second to last ep of "Killing Eve" this morning, and i was thinking about how though it is set in today's time that a lot of the episode's plot hinged on old written letters and 4 x 6 photographs
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:24am Uncle Michael:

Speaking of Tom, this Calexico is very "Jockey Full of Bourbon."
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:24am Brian in UK:

Uncle, if want an old one from the early Sixties try No Hiding Place.
Here is an example.

Avatar 10:26am still b/p:

That Tango from Rain Dogs always enjoyable. And always makes me mull trying to sing it.

And just as UM said it, I was typing about Tango Roll and Jockey kinship flavor.

Just saw the Buster Scruggs the other day. Teenage nieces wondered what the hell it was all supposed to mean.

Just keep Daviding!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:30am Uncle Michael:

Speaking of the phonetic alphabet, on the train that connects the terminals in Atlanta, they identify them by letter and phonetic designation...except for "D". They use "David," one supposes because it being Delta's hub..."Delta" would be confusing. Must drive the military folk to distraction.
