Gary, we have one one those bells. It was my grandmothers. She use to ring it all day long when she was sick in bed and wanted my aunt to bring her something. My aunt was usually staring out the window or playing with her pigeon that lived on dining room table.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm

That's ... very vivid, Franco!

Legend has it that Van Dyke Parks and Lowell George made a hit record for YMO for a briefcase full of cash.

Howdy, Hyde!

VDP: Lowell walked over to the briefcase, fondelling it tenderly, and announced “….I think we can make music out of this!”

Rap Phenomena was the first Hosono related thing I ever heard and it turned me off of him and YMO for like five years. Thankfully Happy End drew me in and I slowly made my way back to BGM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm

Haha ... I'm amazed by how early it is ... I mean, damn, 1981

I bought that HIS CD when I was in mid-school expecting the YMO Hosono sound and I still remember thinking "this is not what I wanted!!!" And so I probably sold it later. It wouldn't have even occurred to me to revisit, since I didn't even remember that project until now. But it wasn't bad at all! I guess I was just not prepared. Thank you for playing!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm

I saw Big Star once, and Alex Chilton said when the Box Tops played with Archie Bell and the Drells, Archie would do The Tighten Up. Alex demonstrated the dance, kind of a James Brown foot shimmy while twisting an imaginary screw driver. The audience was howling. Alex was a very funny guy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm

I saw Alex Chilton play as the Box Tops at the World Trade Center in 2001, (a childhood friend somehow was the drummer). Great show.
