Dean:

On December 19, 1985, Lytle drove from Nashville to Greenfield, Ohio in Highland County, to visit his mother. Lytle stopped at the North High Lounge in Hillsboro to get a drink. While in the North High Lounge, Lytle met an old friend, Dick McCormick. During a conversation with McCormick, Lloyd Bowers, who recognized Lytle as Johnny Paycheck, approached Lytle and engaged him in conversation. Bowers and Lytle traded hats. There is a discrepancy in the testimony as to whether this trade was made by agreement of the parties. Bowers testified that there was an agreement and Lytle testified there was no agreement. Later, Bowers introduced his friend, Larry Wise, to Lytle.

As Wise and Bowers prepared to leave, Wise asked Lytle if he had a place to stay and offered to cook some deer meat and turtle soup for Lytle. Lytle became angry and pulled a gun from the small of his back. Lytle claimed he did so because Wise and Bowers were getting ready to attack him. Lytle raised the gun toward Wise and fired, the bullet grazing Wise's head. Wise ran from the bar. Ernie Turner, owner of the bar, advised Lytle to leave.

Turner called the police who tracked Wise by the trail of blood made by the wound in his head. The police brought Wise back to the bar and later took him to the hospital.

Lytle drove to a friend, Larry Adams' house in Sabina. Lytle stated that somewhere between Hillsboro and Sabina he threw the gun out of the car window into a creek. Lytle entered the Adams trailer, drank some milk and went to sleep. Lytle was taken into custody by the Sabina Police Department and returned to Hillsboro. Upon searching the rental car driven by Lytle, the Hillsboro police found the hat Larry Wise was wearing at the time of the shooting.
--State v. Lytle [Donald Lytle, aka Johnny Paycheck], No. 632 (Ohio Ct. App. Aug. 19, 1988), aff'd, 49 Ohio St. 3d 154, 551 N.E.2d 950 (1990)

@queems: That is why I trust NY1. Gothamiist is just a snarky gossipy kinda site most of the time “NY1 reached out to LinkNYC and officals claimed it wasn't the work of hackers. They said, people are dialing a number that for some odd reason, plays the jingle, and they leave it on speaker. Since the first crop of these prank calls, LinkNYC has blocked the number, and added an automatic 10-minute hang-up feature.”

But even sadder is this other info in the article: “Officials pointed out that out of the 460,000 free calls made from LinkNYC’s phone app every month, the most dialed number is the customer service line for the New York State Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.”

Glad, TLM! By the way, I'm sorry I'm not hitting any of Tony Joe's more recent stuff. I thought we had all his recent CDs, but they are neither in the upstairs library or the downstairs one. NO idea where they went....
