Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16am Scraps:

I didn’t know about the Nolan sisters, and they are kind of bizarre, especially in the eighties, where they were really Big In Japan....

I love “You’ll Always Find Him In the Kitchen at Parties”! LOVE
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21am Scraps:

I used to have 5 Best Single Titles on Stiff Records. That was one of them.... Dreamhost has taken my blog down, though, and I can’t remember the other ones
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21am BronwynB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22am BronwynB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23am Scraps:

To me, Thelma Houston’s version is the ultimate of “Don’t Leave Me This Way”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26am BronwynB:

i agree and i think her version is the best disco song of all time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27am Scraps:

Oh! Another Stiff single with a great title: Tenpole Tudor - Throwing My Baby Out With The Bath Water
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28am Scraps:

I think you might be right!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28am BronwynB:

i respect any title longer than 6 words
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30am Scraps:

I think all five of my Best Stiff Titles were at least six words long. ;-)
Avatar 3:31am grtyvr:

Avatar 3:31am grtyvr:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32am BronwynB:

Avatar 4:21am grtyvr:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23am jkeigh:

I vote on keeping too but totally understand if you want to skip it during themed shows (which are also nice)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25am Scraps:

That 79.5 album cover is.... well, kinda awful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27am Scraps:

On the other hand, the Bran Flakes have three hands
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28am Scraps:

Mike Nicholls!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29am jkeigh:

Yeah, it makes me think of the little mini alien coming out of John Hurt's character
Avatar 4:30am grtyvr:

in...?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30am jkeigh:

Some movie called Alien.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30am Scraps:

Uh, Nichols I mean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32am BronwynB:

definitely keeping the forgotifive except on themed days! just a weird one this week haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32am Scraps:

Man, you have an awesome musical collection. So many that I haven’t been able to find
Avatar 4:33am grtyvr:

I had the wrong Hurt in my head.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33am jkeigh:

Ouch, that... no I'm not going to make that joke!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35am BronwynB:

thanks so much scraps :D
Avatar 4:35am grtyvr:

It is the depth that the DJ's go to that keeps us all entertained. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37am BronwynB:

:)))
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44am jkeigh:

I Love Francis Dunnery (LGDWH is my favorite album of his!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45am Scraps:

Another union themed musical! One of my five favorite musicals is The Pajama Game. (But that is mostly is because it features Carol Haney, oh god)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50am jkeigh:

My friend Tom played Keys for him during one of his UK shows. There's a youtube of a show where Robert Plant joined them I think. Unless it was taken down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51am jkeigh:

I know more Operas than musicals so this show is filling in lots of gaps in my knowledge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52am BronwynB:

i love opera too!! i should play more opera. carmen jones of course is both
Avatar 4:53am grtyvr:

I have to call it a night. Later folks/ Thanks Bronwyn. And, yes on the opera. I love opera selections. ... but then this... nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54am jkeigh:

Good night grtvyr
  4:54am Scott in Tokyo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54am BronwynB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57am jkeigh:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58am Scraps:

#3 of Stiff Records Best Titled Singles: Mick Farren’s “Let's Loot the Supermarket Again Like We Did Last Summer”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58am BronwynB:

i go to bed around 8pm on saturdays, get up at 12:30am, head here, get home around 7:30am, sleep again until 11am
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01am jkeigh:

Ahh, split sleep. Probably a good idea so you don't throw your week out of wack. Have you ever heard Godley and Creme's consequences? Probably the weirdest concept album ever made
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01am Scraps:

Love =Sheet Music=
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03am Scraps:

Consequences was too much for me. Way way way too much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04am jkeigh:

My ex loved that album and would always make that sound whenever I said the word hole.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04am BronwynB:

i gotta check that out, i love things that can be described as too much ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05am jkeigh:

Yeah..it's a bit out there but I love it too.
Avatar 5:07am Billy Jam:

Bronwyn B !!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08am Scraps:

Too much and too long.

But I really, really like =L=, their album in the next year. My favorite Godley & Creme album, probably.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08am BronwynB:

Billy Jam!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10am jkeigh:

I like L too. Definitely an easier album but I do think that there's an edited version of Consequences without the dialogue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10am jkeigh:

Too bad it's not on spotify (although I have the Japaense disk it is boxed away). Youtube has it though
  5:11am ian:

damn, havent listened to this for 20 years. tight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11am jkeigh:

I don't have this Oldfield, It's nice. I thin I skipped this one (for some reason) and went to Anarok
  5:13am ian:

this was definitely the hit single
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14am Scraps:

If 10cc is uncool, then I don’t care about cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15am jkeigh:

I can appreciate the post global warming cover from the pre-global warming age.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17am Scraps:

Yup, jkeigh, I have both versions of Consequences, bloated and streamlined. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20am Scraps:

Everett Dirksen!! (spelling approximate!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21am Scraps:

(wow, I spelt it correctly)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22am fred:

Good morning Bronwyn, Scraps and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22am BronwynB:

Avatar 5:23am Billy Jam:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23am Scraps:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27am Scraps:

Sleepytime! Gorilla!! MUSUEM!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31am jkeigh:

They were amazing live and ironically I just put a different song from this album on a mix
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31am Scraps:

Oh! The #4 of my Stiff Records Awesomely Titled Singles! Mickey Jupp’s “You'll Never Get Me Up in One of Those”!

Only one more to remember! (Well, I’m excited.)
Avatar 5:34am DL in LA:

BronwynB, Irwin often recontextualizes jazz for me by playing it next to pop and all the other stuff he plays. But you're doing something sort of more twisted. You're recontextualizing pop and rock for me by playing it next to musicals and the other stuff you play. There are other examples, but one is I'm hearing Meatloaf in new ways since I've heard more musicals lately! Yikes and wow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35am fred:

I hadn't heard this Sisters of Mercy track in ages
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37am BronwynB:

thanks DL!! i love that!!! one of my goals is to sort of un-other musicals and position them as not a novelty, if that makes sense. and meatloaf totally sounds like musicals which makes sense since jim steinman's first love is musical theatre (he's sort of surprisingly bad at it though)
  5:57am upstate sean:

Whatup Bronwyn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57am jkeigh:

C'est sheep isn't that baaaad
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00am Scraps:

Thank you so much, Bronwyn. Every week it’s a peak of music-listening. Cheers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00am jkeigh:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01am Scraps:

And conversation. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04am BronwynB:
