Avatar 11:53am Sem:

So is it a manssiere or a Bro? I have time on my hands to ponder that one.

Hello, Bill. Happy to arrive early and claim the Barcalounger.
Avatar 11:55am Bill Mac:

Funny story.... I'll get to it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm fred:

Hello Bill, Sem and all
Avatar 12:01pm Brian in UK:

Ofcourse my cheque is in the post. Oh err sorry. Hello Bill, Sem & fred.
Avatar 12:04pm Bill Mac:

Heeeyyyyyooooo Gentlemen!
Avatar 12:06pm Brian in UK:

Glenn 'relentless' Branca
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm fred:

I just have to play this louder, though I can't play it loud enough to do justice to the live experience at its best
Avatar 12:08pm Bill Mac:

Did Branca inform Fripp or was it the other way around?
Avatar 12:10pm Bill Mac:

There's some nice liner notes here to help me get some answers...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm doctorjazz:

Hi all!
Saw Branca many years ago, Mudd Club, downtown NYC. It s really an amazing live experience, don't think it translates well to records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm fred:

@Bill: don't forget Rhys Chatham, though Glenn Branca wouldn't mention him much
Avatar 12:17pm Bill Mac:

I used to play Die Donnergotter a bit in the old days
Avatar 12:17pm Bill Mac:

Doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm fred:

Wow, a Dylan track I actually like
Avatar 12:19pm Sem:

Hahaha. fred.
Avatar 12:21pm Bill Mac:

Lot of dislike for Dylan out there, me too I'm afraid. I'm trying to correct that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm doctorjazz:

Amazing to think that this was contraversial at the time, Dylan folkies were crying "sell out!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm doctorjazz:

Mike Bloomfield guitar, I believe he's a monster!
  12:22pm P-90:

Dylan and Branca, that's a show I'd grab tickets for, in a heartbeat
Avatar 12:22pm Bill Mac:

I like this.... p-90!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm doctorjazz:

I played acoustic guitar with a harmonica around my neck for a bit in high school guess that qualifies me as a fan.
Avatar 12:24pm coelacanth∅:

hey Bill and Zzzzzzero%ers

-one of my favorite Dylan songs, that was
Avatar 12:26pm Bill Mac:

CC! Yup, we don't play enough Bob here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Dropof Goldensun:

Greetings y'all!
Avatar 12:27pm Bill Mac:

Mr Goldensun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Dropof Goldensun:

Mr Goldensun was my father.
Avatar 12:30pm Franco Twinkie:

I love this! I saw Lou Reed doing Magic and Loss at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Rolling out of Griffith Park after the show was over, the city was on fire. It was the first night of the L.A. Riot of '92
Avatar 12:31pm Bill Mac:

Sorry, Dropof then
Avatar 12:31pm Bill Mac:

Wow.... hey Franco!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Dropof Goldensun:

Loving the tracks so far!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm doctorjazz:

Some of the great non-singer singers.
Avatar 12:34pm Franco Twinkie:

Mornin' Bill!
Avatar 12:34pm coelacanth∅:

i'd be happier never hearing jonathan richman! but Dylan's terrible voice yes i could stand to hear more of now & then.
Avatar 12:37pm coelacanth∅:

and Glenn Branca...i've wondered how much influence he got from japanese composer Somei Satoh.
Avatar 12:38pm coelacanth∅:

i mostly like "the original modern lovers" but all the crap he's done since then has pretty well ruined it for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm doctorjazz:

Bringing it All Back Home was Dylan's 1st venture into electric music, but it was still part acoustic. HIGHWAY 61 WAS THE FIRST that was fully electric.
Avatar 12:44pm Franco Twinkie:

Coel, I know. Some times you just have the ask yourself 'why' But I still rock Old World frome the first album. Just like Sword of Damocles, it resonates.
Avatar 12:46pm Brian in UK:

"Judas" said the man at the Manchester Free Trade Hall.
Avatar 12:48pm coelacanth∅:

"desolatin row" on hwy 61 is acoustic too

Franco i don't know that song. it's not on my copy of the album
- but yeah i do like hearing a few songs after all. "she cracked" comes to mind.
Avatar 12:52pm coelacanth∅:

oh, i see Franco. i forgot that before the album "the original modern lovers" came out, the original modern lovers had an album called " the modern lovers"!
  12:53pm chresti:

She cracked is a favorite of mine too
Avatar 12:55pm Bill Mac:

Hey Chresti. Agreed!
  12:55pm chresti:

Hello from 9:55 AM
Avatar 12:58pm Brian in UK:

Journey to the centre of your Kalashikov.
Avatar 1:02pm Brian in UK:

I misread your show title, bra for bar.
Avatar 1:07pm Franco Twinkie:

The first time Chresti ever came to my place a billion years ago, she was in my studio playing records while I was trying(unsuccessfully) to get something going with her friend in the other room. She was playing The first Modern Lovers album, and dropped it on the cinder blocks the turntable was sitting on. Old World has a nasty skip that takes me back to that fateful day any time I play it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I wasn't very awake when I read the email this morning. Took me a while to get the "Macolytes" reference.
Avatar 1:11pm Bill Mac:

Someone here came up with that one - I just ran with it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Scraps:

h’lo hey
Avatar 1:15pm Bill Mac:

Hey ho Scraps!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm fred:

Scraps! Good morning my radio brother
Avatar 1:18pm Brian in UK:

What-ho, Scraps.

Bonzo fix.
Avatar 1:19pm Brian in UK:

Pedant note. They were the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band at this point.
Avatar 1:19pm Bill Mac:

Would that be considered early on?
Avatar 1:20pm Brian in UK:

1968ish.
Avatar 1:22pm Brian in UK:

The doughnut in granny's Greenhouse. A euphemism for the outside toilet.
Avatar 1:23pm Brian in UK:

Bill, was your Dad a Cosby fan?
Avatar 1:24pm Bill Mac:

Monster fan - he grew up about 4 miles down south of us at about the same time.
Avatar 1:27pm Brian in UK:

So I guess he missed all the hoo-ha about his private life.

Did Cosby originate the term Fat Albert.
  1:28pm rw:

Another Zzzzzzero Saturday! Rainy here which is nice, but I feel a little trapped inside the house.
  1:28pm rw:

I just the other day figured out that Sparks aren't English.
Avatar 1:29pm Bill Mac:

rw!
Avatar 1:29pm Brian in UK:

Bill. Just made myself a dry martini. Raising a glass to your old man.
(turn that rubbish off, call that singing, a cat could make a better noise.
Avatar 1:31pm Brian in UK:

They had their first hits over here?
Avatar 1:32pm coelacanth∅:

well lydon is an idiot, after all.
Avatar 1:38pm Bill Mac:

Thanks Bri!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Stanley:

Friends!
Avatar 1:41pm Bill Mac:

Hey Chief!
Avatar 1:43pm Franco Twinkie:

One night I was walking down Speedway in Venice with a friend to the liquor store and he said "That's where Johnny Rotten lives" My friend has a voice that really travels, so I look at the house and the Rotten One is sitting on his front porch looking at us. I was actually embarrassed. He looked so vulnerable all by himself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Stanley:

A pleasure to be here.
Hope everyone's doing well.
Avatar 1:44pm coelacanth∅:

hey Stanley! hey rw!
the sun is shining now and it's beautiful out but i need to clean the apartment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Stanley:

I got myself a cleaner a few weeks ago. The flat is gleaming and no longer an embarrassment.
She's a bit scary though.
Avatar 1:46pm Bill Mac:

Yeah it's threatening to be a nice day here too.... whatsup with that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm doctorjazz:

Sounds like 1 channel is out (but I'm listening on my phone, maybe it's just me .
Avatar 1:48pm coelacanth∅:

Franco i'm sure Johnny liked the attention nonetheless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm doctorjazz:

Can't hear Lee.
Avatar 1:49pm coelacanth∅:

i've got both channels. Lee in one & Nancy in the other.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Dropof Goldensun:

I'm at work just pretending it's not very nice outside.
Avatar 1:49pm Bill Mac:

That's odd. I'm catching movement of both channels
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Dropof Goldensun:

I heard both channels from my computer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm fred:

@Franco Twinkie: I think he's more interesting than he gets credit for, and that a lot of the blame for that is on him
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Stanley:

Reminds me of Ruth Underwood on marimba
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Stanley:

Them again! We had them on earlier.
But digging.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm fred:

Beastie Boys!
Avatar 1:55pm Franco Twinkie:

Ruth Underwood is amazing. Saw her up close when she was in The Mothers. She was a sight to behold.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Stanley:

She was great on the 'Roxy and Elsewhere' recordings
Avatar 1:57pm Franco Twinkie:

I was there!
Avatar 1:57pm Brian in UK:

Was in the kitchen, missed the Ruth Underwood miasma.
Avatar 1:58pm Bill Mac:

I didn't realize she was with Roxy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Stanley:

@Franco - far out. The Roxy or elsewhere?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Stanley:

Haha Bill but Eddie Jobson was!
Avatar 2:01pm Bill Mac:

I had a dense moment... just for that Roxy and elsewhere next set...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Stanley:

A certain type of banditry, perhaps, Bill?
Avatar 2:04pm Brian in UK:

@Stanley, cause he can banditry?
Avatar 2:05pm Franco Twinkie:

Saw her with the premier of that band at the Hollywood Palladium earlier that year, then later at The Shrine and at Clairmont College with Captain Beefheart.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Stanley:

@Brian, that's always the case
  2:06pm spodiodi:

FZ ftw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Stanley:

And the Horrible Eye
Avatar 2:09pm Franco Twinkie:

I remember this moment like it was yesterday! We were so close i remember looking at Franks shoes which had little monsters painted on them saying " Eat My Toes"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Stanley:

Elements of many FZ styles in that
Avatar 2:13pm Bill Mac:

Now that was cleansing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Stanley:

Well done, Franco, that sounds amazing. I caught him many times in UK, I suppose starting around 1977 or so.
Avatar 2:19pm Franco Twinkie:

Yes, Stanley. We all have our time when we're running full tilt. Now I'm an old man in his bathrobe, but when I wad young....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Stanley:

Bathrobe, eh? I gotta get one of those.
Avatar 2:24pm Franco Twinkie:

I gotta get a bathtub, my aching bones. you know?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Stanley:

Well, a bathrobe is the next best thing, I suppose.
I was singing Lene Lovich's Lucky Number today - oo, oo!
Avatar 2:26pm Bill Mac:

I wouldn't have a bathrobe unless I had a tub....
Avatar 2:26pm Brian in UK:

So did Frank Z improve, stay the same or regress after the broken leg incident at the Rainbow. (PS Rainbow as a venue was a good).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Stanley:

I put The Damned on at my college, back in the day.
The audience smashed the place up!
We all thought it was good.
Avatar 2:28pm Franco Twinkie:

Actually, I do have an old claw foot tub. But it's behind the house full of dead leaves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Dropof Goldensun:

Play it Dave Greenfield!
  2:30pm rw:

I had a girlfriend in college who was a huge Stranglers fan. I should have married her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm fred:

@Franco Twinkie: How does it sound? I think there would be music potential with it, though touring would be tough
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Stanley:

Well, Brian, I think his leg got better.
Avatar 2:33pm Brian in UK:

Bill, suppose there is no chance of 'The Court of the Crimson King' track.
Avatar 2:33pm Franco Twinkie:

Look, everybody loves those original MOI records. I do! But things change. When I saw FZ I was a kid, and not much of a criic. But I must admit, some of the later stuff leaves me cold.
Avatar 2:42pm Brian in UK:

Stanley, that is a politicians answer.
Avatar 2:42pm Franco Twinkie:

RW! Digging this rain, or what.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Stanley:

Lovely old KC this.
Avatar 2:47pm Brian in UK:

Thanks Bill, it was cheeky to ask for the long title track this late.
The cover for this album struck chords with Supergrass' first album cover.
Avatar 2:49pm Brian in UK:

The joy of albums was that you could carry them around town and look cool. Never worked for tapes or CDs.
Avatar 2:49pm Bill Mac:

I like this track but I like the alternate one with Judy Dyble singing it.
Avatar 2:50pm coelacanth∅:

when i see people in town walking by with albums i always want to (& 1/2 the time do) say "what'd you get?"
Avatar 2:51pm Brian in UK:

Thanks so much Bill. Christmas it is then for your next visitation.

Drive safely.
Avatar 2:52pm Bill Mac:

Not sure.... It's early yet, I could be back before Thanksgiving.
Avatar 2:53pm Brian in UK:

Sales of albums has increased but nothing compared to 1,000,00 pre-orders for the new Beatles album in the Sixties.
Avatar 2:53pm Sem:

Sounded great all afternoon from my Barcalounger, Bill. Thanks for the spins. See you and all next time we convene. I'll bring finger food.
Avatar 2:54pm Brian in UK:

Hmmm fingers, of the chocolate variety.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm fred:

Thanks Bill, looking forward to hearing you at an unexpected time
Avatar 2:55pm coelacanth∅:

there are 2 record stores in my town (both adequate not great) and usually when i see someone with a record it's a college student with a pretty good or excellent album.
Avatar 2:55pm Bill Mac:

Folks great time today with no fluffs! I should be back soon!
Avatar 2:56pm Franco Twinkie:

Thanks Bill! You're tops. Now I can get dressed and make a sandwich. Nuthin' else to do.
  2:57pm rw:

Hey FT! The rain and s nice. Trying to figure out some indoor projects to work on.
Avatar 2:58pm Brian in UK:

Love to see an exhibition of Don's work.
  2:58pm rw:

Thank you Mr. Mac! Always enjoy the Hour!
Avatar 2:59pm coelacanth∅:

i need bleach for the mold which is everywhere because it's always raining &/or humid. i feel like i'm inside a Gabriel Garcia-Márquez story.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Stanley:

Avatar 3:07pm Bill Mac:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Stanley:
