with all due respect, because I love your show Jesse, the last thing women want to hear right now is some white guy saying women should have more power (even though I dig this song)...for me personally, I'd rather just play hear more music created by women!

francesca:

Yes, like this. Thank you!

Once I bought some CDs on ebay and the seller turned out to be Jim O'Rourke.

thanks for saying so, francesca, sorry if it didn't land right... but also one of several counterpoints running in my head through this past week (& beyond) & felt like (another) moment to play it.

Belated West Coast greetings, Brother Frow and fellow Frowskateers. Looking forward to a few hours of weirdness to help the world make more sense.

Man, I love the Airplane. Always surprised how they get comparatively little love from that slice of Grateful Dead Twitter that I follow.

a friend & i have had an ongoing conversation about the GD/JA on/off over the past few years. i think their divergent legacies in the later '70s & '80s probably has a lot to do with it, and a few other key differences. but i too love the airplane.

Gotta go. Thanks Jesse! Enjoy the rest of the show and have a good week.
Good night Frowsketeers!

i didn't realize until checking out "500 chains" that "downtown castles" was a compilation of stuff from like 6 or 7 other releases. will be digging in slowly for sure.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:53am
Listener Bryan (the Professor):

500 Chains is story/song? spoken word? The Bandcamp description calls is an "audiobook" and does mention its status as "source" material for Castles. I've enjoyed Castles, so maybe I'll just throw in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08am
jj.:

you can preview it on bandcamp. there are some spoken interludes, but it's mostly an emphasis on the musical part of the audiobook.
