OK, that was strange. I just commented on Dave the Spazz's brief board. Hi Adriene.

whew. that was a weird playlist issue. hi, Adriene and folks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm
Dave in Vermont:

based on the show title I conjecture that playlist glitch may have been intentional
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm
Kat in Chicago:

I was wondering that myself, Dave

Hello, Adreine. Got any room for some plain old egregious technical errors?

about 30 km from my home town, there was a town in the early 60s that was bought by Dupont for strip mining. I only found out about by finding some old USGS maps in the library. So, home from college one holiday, a friend of mine took his father's truck and we went to where the old state road was covered by barbed wire, So, we went around and drove through the barbed wire. The street grid was still, there (once we found it), albeit overgrown. We found building foundations, we spend the day exploring, and dodging Dupont employees. We decided to go out the main gate, as since his father was a civil engineer, there were two hard hats in the truck. It worked. That's my story of finding the lost city of Hugh, FL.

@Dale: As a kid that name “Love Canal” really creeped me out.

Rich in Washington:

This is wonderful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm
Rich in Washington:

I sort of liked that weird late 80s movie Made In USA, a sort of love triangle road picture, with the characters wandering across industrial wastelands like Jones Beach, references to Love Canal, etc. Suitably apocalyptic soundtrack by Sonic Youth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm
dale:

yeah jake - some porno guy probably named the town.
Avatar 6:35pm
northguineahills:

@Rich: I got the sndtk in HS, but never saw the the movie....

i thought ford was buddies with firestone and wouldn't step on his toes. but then ford was a dick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm
Rich in Washington:

The soundtrack's better, IMO. But the film's at least unique in its choices of settings.

Dave from Brooklyn:

In fact, although unreported a higher incidence of cancers was found in people who were in the vicinity regularly or whom resided in the 3 Mile Island area
Chernobyl was ,and still is an ecological nightmare.
Fukishima is still spewing radioactive waste into our oceans 5 years later. Renewable Energy NOW!
Avatar 6:39pm
northguineahills:

Ironically, the Chernobyl area has the most ecologically diverse thriving wilderness areas in western Ukraine/Southern Belarus, well, actually all of eastern Europe. Lack of humans will allow for that.
  6:40pm
Dave from Brooklyn:

Let's not forget the brave Russian pilots who gave their lives fighting Chernobyls fires and Armand Hammer who put considerable capital of his to help people in the aftermath of the Chernobyl Meltdown
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm

i keep saying yanni during this song. DAMN clay pigeon.

Word has it that mushrooms are thriving wildly at Chernobyl eating up the radiation!!!!

  6:49pm

You eat those mushrooms and turn into the perceptive hulk. You just stand on the street starting and things and giggling at the colors.
