Howdy, Pseu and folks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Jim H:

Greetings Pseu-bees! In for a bit, out for a bit, and hopefully back later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Panda Penguin:

This Beths album has absolutely wrecked me over the last fortnight or so. One of the best pop records I've heard in years.

Hello Sue from sleepy, steamy DC

Hello Pseu Braun
  12:22pm KP:

Oops, wrong Pseu. Still early for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Jim H:

Spent the weekend with friends who live across the street from DCC's drummer's house. Name change suggestion: Death Uber for Cutie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Tome:

ahh ! this feels just right !
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Krys O.:

I think we taste our secretions that are in our mouth.
Avatar 12:32pm northguineahills:

Cow tongue is tasty! (don't tell my vegan wife that).
Avatar 12:34pm Beast of Boonton:

The nose and brain cancel the smell of the breath (thank goodness)
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Krys O.:

I made a nice PB&J sandwich for lunch, but a fly that was in the office got a taste of it before I could. Of course, I threw it out. :(
  12:34pm debt collector:

Joe strummer ran marathons too
Avatar 12:37pm Davee:

Avatar 12:45pm D. Lightfoot:

run marathons, die of a heart attack at 50
Avatar 12:49pm Itzall Ablurr:

Krys O., why would throwing out the fly keep you from enjoying that sandwich?!?
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Krys O.:

Said fly transgressed the Lunch Code.
Avatar 12:53pm D. Lightfoot:

I would have eaten it anyway
Avatar 1:07pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

My wife keeps our house so clean, I just pick food up off the floor and eat it.
Avatar 1:19pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Tancred is really cool. Clicky star!
  1:19pm JakeGould:

My house is so clean my floors are plates, my tables are condiment dispensers and my bed is a soup bowl. I am a Hans Fucking Christian Anderson character come to life!
Avatar 1:20pm northguineahills:

@Beast of Boontoon: I can smell my breath and it drives me insane sometimes. It's why I always have breath mints and gum, and I don't even have halitosis.
Avatar 1:23pm Jeff Moore:

Something recent — was it the Pram song? — did that thing where you wonder if the band was incorporating sounds which sound just like a failing CDR or if there was actually a CD on the verge of not playing at all. Made me nervous. I never did figure out which it actually was.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Krys O.:

WOO! The Q!
Avatar 1:25pm Itzall Ablurr:

My wife is so clean I... well it's all hyperbole today right?
  1:25pm JakeGould:

@Jeff: You know there is a whole subculture of the noise world that records audio to CD-Rs, damages them in some way (scratching, melting, etc…) and then experiments with different CD players to see what the DA converter does to that.

Kids nowadays.
  1:28pm JakeGould:

I think the sub-genre is called “Friend’s Roomate’s”
Avatar 1:30pm Roberto:

Funny, I had that pegged as a Peter Holsapple song. I guess great dB'ss compose alike.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Krys O.:

Ken Stringfellow had dyed his hair dark, almost black. Jon Auer still has black hair.
Avatar 1:44pm Pseu Braun:

yeah, saw them posies several weeks ago. Ken black stringy hair, Jon barely holding on with brown.
Avatar 1:44pm D. Lightfoot:

I have been streaming this station for years and only just realized I can fave tracks by clicking the little stars.
Avatar 1:51pm Itzall Ablurr:

D., did you also know that your profile will maintain a history of the songs you starred (I refer to mine as the money pit since I buy from it)?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Planet Tyler:

Oi I just realized it's been too long since I put on Chelsea Girl
Avatar 1:52pm Itzall Ablurr:

This is a boy.
Avatar 1:52pm D. Lightfoot:

I listened to it every day for a couple of months last winter
  1:53pm McGreivey:

You mean, everyone can see every fool sing I starred? Eek.
Avatar 1:54pm D. Lightfoot:

Itzall: No, I didn't know that either—I'm sort of a clueless idiot
Avatar 1:55pm Itzall Ablurr:

McGreivey, I think only YOU can prevent forest fires and also see your own favorites list.
Avatar 1:57pm Itzall Ablurr:

Nope, nope, my mistake, it's all public! Now everybody will know of my love of Abba, BeeGees and Spice Girls. Que sera.
Avatar 1:58pm Pseu Braun:

Avatar 1:58pm Itzall Ablurr:

New to WFMU; Profile Favorites Shaming!!! Oh for fuck's sake it's JOURNEY. NO, I ain't taking that bait...
Avatar 1:59pm Roberto:

I like this Journey song. I got my crappy covers band to play it in the '90s. Our guitarist almost quit over it.
Avatar 2:00pm Itzall Ablurr:

Jeezis I am swaying rhythmically to the nah-nahs... lord help me...
  2:01pm McGreivey:

@Itzall: phshew! <teenager-me>I only like Journey before Steve Perry joined.</teenager-me>
Avatar 2:02pm Itzall Ablurr:

What? I thought he was the singer? Not original? And I call myself a fan...
Avatar 2:02pm D. Lightfoot:

An impression I have had on here scores of times now: I hear something that sounds like it's maybe some "unearthed" artist from the early 70s (a la Rodriguez or Sybil Baier) or maybe one I just haven't heard of before, and I Google it to find out it just dropped on Bandcamp this year—leading me to believe there's just tons of what you might call "hot dog" music (tasty but derivative) being cranked out by hundreds of homage artists and sonic archaeologists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Phillippe Bastille:

I like it that Pseu occasionally reminds me what a freaking music snob I can be. I usually forget that a song that is popular can also be good. Or not.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Krys O.:

Never be embarrassed by your free-from musical tastes.
  2:03pm McGreivey:

Guilty pleasures are the test of a band. I was in a band once that only played guilty pleasures. One of the guys did refuse to play Jethro Tull, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Phillippe Bastille:

Was the band called The Guilty Pleasures?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Tome:

likes Pseu now and ,, every back before the hook,,,
Avatar 2:05pm Pseu Braun:

no "pleasure" can be derived from Tull. For me, anyway.
Avatar 2:06pm D. Lightfoot:

Yeah, that stuff is hard to like. But there a few tracks. One Brown Mouse, a couple others.
  2:08pm McGreivey:

@Philippe: yes, actually. Obviously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Phillippe Bastille:

Opportunity: Taken
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Krys O.:

Tull bemuses me.
  2:10pm McGreivey:

@Philippe: We no longer use the name, and I suspect there are others. Have at it.
Avatar 2:10pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

I think listening "ironically" is just lying to yourself. I actually like Tull, Journey, Styx, a little bit of Rush, and yes, some of the more esoteric stuff played on FMU like Horse Lords, 75 Dollar Bill, Dirty Beaches et al. But Led Zeppelin? I need another ten years to cleanse my pallette of Physical Graffitti. I am just SO TIRED of it. I like The Troggs, Them and The Animals who were all mainstream bands back in the day also.
Avatar 2:11pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Tull rocks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Phillippe Bastille:

Ha. No, I was implying you had an opportunity and took it.
Avatar 2:14pm D. Lightfoot:

I think I listened to some music ironically, or something like that, when I was younger—at least I can't listen to it now without wondering what I supposedly liked about it
  2:16pm ATL EX-Pat:

This is amazing
Avatar 2:16pm D. Lightfoot:

These kids are fucking great
Avatar 2:16pm D. Lightfoot:

Like the Shaggs meet the Beach Boys
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Michael 98145:

Avatar 2:22pm D. Lightfoot:

Other people may not be able to see our faves on your profile, but it does tell you how many other people faves the same song, so you can feel related to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Phillippe Bastille:

DL You can also clicky star people and they'll show up as your Friends. I clicky starred Pseu a while back. Still waiting for her to click me back. Oh well.
Avatar 2:27pm Pseu Braun:

I had no friends, prior.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Phillippe Bastille:

Well, you'll always be my friend, Pseu
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Jim H:

What is all this stuff about the Triangle? Greensboro, Kernersville? Being from Winston-Salem, this feels like too much nostalgia. Get something about High Point and W-S in there and you've got it.
Avatar 2:29pm D. Lightfoot:

Yeah this is an NC song
Avatar 2:30pm D. Lightfoot:

got you going up and down 40 breaking your damn heart
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Jim H:

LOL, D. Lightfoot. LOL. Going back next month.
Avatar 2:32pm D. Lightfoot:

I had heartbreak in Yadkinville this month when my wife's Subaru threw a rod coming back from a Josh Ritter show in W-S at midnight. Had to buy a damn car the next day. FML
Avatar 2:33pm D. Lightfoot:

Still haven't decided if I'd rather have a car note or just shoot myself
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Jim H:

Used to tube on the Yadkin River.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Jim H:

Lotta good mechanics down through there, tho'
Avatar 2:34pm D. Lightfoot:

Western NC is a lesser-known paradise. (Don't tell anyone)
  2:35pm McGreivey:

We didn't actually want to play Tull, but when that guy said a reluctant yes to Boston, he said, "OK. But no Tull!"
Avatar 2:35pm D. Lightfoot:

Hah! One of them stopped to help us in fact but left after showing me the hole in the top of the crank case where the rid came through. We live in Ashe County. 70 miles from home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Jim H:

Drove the length of the Shenandoah Pkwy and Blue Ridge two summers ago. Six days. Lotsa' deer and whistle pigs (ground hogs, woodchucks for the rest of y'all). This'll be the first October I haven't rented a cabin up near Cashiers in like 7-8 years. That, my friend, is a hiker's waterfall heaven.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Phillippe Bastille:

@D Lightfoot Stick with the beaters. My eldest son has a small independent dealership so he can go to dealer auctions. We haven't spent more than $3K for any of our vehicles. Somes don't last too long (the Saab that gave it all up after 3 months), somes are go for years (Chevy Silverado, almost 200K on the drivetrain)
Avatar 2:38pm D. Lightfoot:

Phill: it was a 2000 Legacy XD
Avatar 2:38pm D. Lightfoot:

The new car a 2011
Avatar 2:39pm D. Lightfoot:

Jim: Give this a try
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Phillippe Bastille:

Yeah, we have nothing newer than the 09 Silverado. 03 legacy, 99 beemer z3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Jim H:

Stayed there a few years back. Niece at WCU. This is my jam: panthertown.org
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Jim H:

All that stuff is an easy 2.5 hours from ATL

Those rock critics praise the "departure," then they come back with the next release and sing the "return to form"
