Hey refresh your playlists, I just flipped a switch...
  12:24am rw:

Hmmm... I had to refresh my playlist in order to get that instruction.
Avatar 12:24am coelacanth∅:

i just missed the explorers room fill-in. got home & booted up last thursday literally by 10.02.
Avatar 12:25am coelacanth∅:

hey! i feel like someone just turned the lights on!
Avatar 12:25am Bill Mac:

@rw.... hmmmm yeah... I didn't think of that....

Avatar 12:30am Bill Mac:

I troubleshot (troubleshooted?) the issue based on your comment about the playlist looking like it was closed... I fixed it!

(...am i in the red on the obnoxious meter? i mean no harm. i'd like to hear the story; though i don't know if you'd intended to tell it anyway)
Avatar 12:45am Bill Mac:

Not hardly my friend.... not much of a story, but I like how he uses it as a past tense for bums defecating in his apartment vestibule...
Avatar 12:50am coelacanth∅:

oh man that's one way for a bum to give him/herself one less option of places to sleep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am chresti:

looks same as ever here
  12:52am phat:

Satan, satan, Satan!
Avatar 12:53am Bill Mac:

Welcome Chresti. Yeah you just missed out on the ineptitude of the DJ...
  12:53am Fashion Tashjian:

Haha, love this song, haven't listened to this record in forever. Kudos!
  12:54am P-90:

"trouble-shat the problem"? So you're less of a "trouble-shooter" and more of a ..."trouble-shatner"?
Avatar 12:55am Bill Mac:

Hey FT & phat... I always like the speech about regret...
  12:55am phat:

seeing Pinkus play with Melvins last week will probably be as close to Butthole Surfers I'll ever get.

  12:56am phat:

it's good advice!
Avatar 12:57am Bill Mac:

I was just thinking of Pinkus... how's that version of Melvins?
Avatar 12:57am coelacanth∅:

it was scary before, chresti. lightning coming from all directions, red eyes in the corners, little nondescript critters with bright big teeth scurrying about.... then Bill turned the light on and there were happy animals playing and a rainbow and

Avatar 12:58am Bill Mac:

.... and then we all had ice cream....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am chresti:

oh dear! hail rainbows!
  12:58am phat:

it was, shockingly, my first Melvins show. it kicked serious goddamn ass.
Avatar 12:58am Bill Mac:

oogah chugguh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59am chresti:

Hail ice cream!
  12:59am rw:

phat, I was just trying to decide whether to mention seeing Butthole Surfers at the VFW Hall in Kansas City. Must have been 1983 or 1984. One of the crazier evenings I've had. Still haven't seen the Melvins though!
Avatar 12:59am coelacanth∅:

i ate ice cream today. the 3rd time this year. i feel dirty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am chresti:

ha ha!
  1:00am rw:

Bill, I don't remember this Pere Ubu song. I'm sure I've got that CD. Maybe time to dig it back out.

coel, it's okay. What flavor?
  1:02am phat:

they are supposedly going to record again. maybe they'll tour. it won't, however, be the same.

I like to think that seeing Crash Worship in a bar here in Lincoln, NE was close enough. that show was off the rails.

I need to start a new band. I feel like the world could use some of that kind of insanity and nobody is doing it.
Avatar 1:04am coelacanth∅:

cloudland did nothing for me when i got it. it was so tame after bailing man & dub housing, which i had. i think i'll pull that out again though.
Avatar 1:05am coelacanth∅:

rw, mint klondike bar.
Avatar 1:09am Bill Mac:

Crash Worship. I've heard that their shows were pretty legendary
Avatar 1:17am Franco Twinkie:

Okay, I leave the house for a few hours and all hell breaks loose! Crash Worship and ice cream!?! I saw CR in a tiny room in Eagle Rock many years ago. Enduring memory? An orange Marshall stack cranked so loud the ceiling tiles were falling off!
Avatar 1:18am Bill Mac:

Franco: See what I mean? Awesome!
  1:21am phat:

they handed out bags of wine, had a bass instrument made of 1/4" cable strapped to a 4' pipe with a pickup and left burn marks on the ceiling from the fire breathing
  1:22am phat:

Whatever happened to the fire-breathing craze of the early 90s? or was that just friends of mine?
  1:23am rw:

Hey Mr. Twinkie! Had to look up Crash Worship. I kind of skipped the '90s. I guess there WAS some shit going on.
  1:24am phat:

nobody seems to be channeling whatever this is anymore.
  1:24am rw:

Oh, and there they are! Bill, you're the best DJ ever.
Avatar 1:26am Bill Mac:

I'll take it rw! I remember someone telling me they played on an abandoned train bridge...
Avatar 1:27am Franco Twinkie:

My memory of Pere Ubu at the Whisky A Go Go - also a billion years ago, was DT beating a big piece of metal with a hammer and Alan Ravenstien playing a primitive synth the size of a shoe store.
  1:27am phat:

That sounds like the KC show they did, which I missed but my friends in Opium Taylor happened to be playing KC that weekend and caught it.
  1:28am phat:

they bussed people to the bridge
Avatar 1:32am Franco Twinkie:

Oh, hey RW. Hot one today, eh? The Pere Ubu show was '79 or '80, on a hot August Saturday night 'cause after I went to the record swap meet they use to have in the parking lot at Capitol Records. Did you ever go to that?
Avatar 1:37am Franco Twinkie:

BTW, Happy nascent day, RW. Did you eat something you love today?
  1:37am rw:

Yeah, spent the day inside mostly which drives me a little crazy. Did get a bike ride in from 7-8:30. Never got to the Capitol Records swap meet, but I remember it. I was just a little too young and a little too far away.
  1:41am rw:

Thank you FT! Birthdays depress me a little more than they should. Today wasn't bad but not too exciting either. Last weekend my daughter was in town and we had a really nice dinner. I made pizza and lemon sorbet. Both delicious!
Avatar 1:41am Franco Twinkie:

It was truly a blast, RW. Watching the sun come up while you were going through a box of old 45's, then going to Canters for breakfast.
  1:43am phat:

Ideal Copy = criminally underrated.
Avatar 1:44am Franco Twinkie:

Pizza makes every thing better, especially if you share it with someone you love,
Avatar 1:49am coelacanth:

phat fire dancing/breathing was a thing in my world in the 90s too, in nj; and then again in a different location from c.2002. i haven't seen it in a while but i'm not around those types of environments much for at least 10 years now. i'd be surprised if it's not still a thing in the new paltz area.
  1:49am rw:

Yeah, it was nice. And that's true!
  1:51am Michael and Birgit:

Short Visit in the Morning.Work is waiting. Best wishes from Cologne.Sunday more...
Avatar 1:52am Franco Twinkie:

I saw Half Japanese open for The Mekons at The Gaslight in Hollywood, Back in the day, The Gas Light was called Bido Litos where Love, The Seeds, and every other psych band in L,A. started out.
Avatar 1:52am coelacanth∅:

rw i did wish you a hb within a minute of your birthday; & now i wish you a happy birthday again. maybe i'll start a tradition of wishing people a happy birthday on every day besides their actual birthdays.
Avatar 1:54am Bill Mac:

That's right, M&B I'm on the Drummer Stream Sunday & 900 am! Thanks for dropping by, I was wondering whether the morning shift was gonna show up for the baton pass.
Avatar 1:55am coelacanth∅:

i usually don't know it's my birthday unless someone reminds me, or if i hear some crap about groundhog day.
Avatar 1:56am Old Eric the Hat:

HELL"S YES. Thanks for the TFUL282... <3
Avatar 1:56am Bill Mac:

Eric! Yep, favorite 90s band...
  1:57am rw:

Thanks coel! It's still my birthday on the west coast, but that sounds like a good plan!
Avatar 1:59am Franco Twinkie:

I like this version of Beatle Bones but still prefer the one on Strictly Personal with all Bob Krasnows Bromo-Seltzer, as Don called it.
Avatar 2:05am Old Eric the Hat:

  2:14am rw:

Time for me to check out. Thanks Bill! Fantastic as always. Later kids! Have a great weekend everyone!
Avatar 2:15am Bill Mac:

Thanks rw... happy birthday!
  2:16am rw:

Thanks man! Hope to catch you again on Sunday!
Avatar 2:20am coelacanth∅:

gnight rw! take care
Avatar 2:24am Franco Twinkie:

I love this! Malo was very popular with all the vatos at my high school. So you would hear it blasting from all the lowered chevys in the parking lot at lunch.
2:30am icy in Bklyn soon to be LA:

Very nice Kilgore tune.
2:31am icy in Bklyn soon to be LA:

I mean, a very clean song!
Avatar 2:33am coelacanth∅:

(and bloodrock i assume)
Avatar 2:38am coelacanth∅:

i must depart. hard work day ahead and i haven't been sleeping more than 4 hours/night. i'm giving it a shot.

Thanks Bill great to hear you again!
goodnight all.
Avatar 2:40am Bill Mac:

Take care CC!
Avatar 2:44am Franco Twinkie:

Nighty night Coel. Try dry opium pod tea, Chresti drinks it by the gallons and is usually happily snoring away while i'm up wandering around like a disembodied spirit at 4a.m, looking for something to eat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49am mauri:

I dozed off for an hour there and listened dreamin but hey thanks Bill. Sunday again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53am Listener John from NJ:

I tuned in at about 2:30, and wish I'd tuned in at midnight -- I love this music!
Avatar 2:53am Bill Mac:

Hey Mauri, hope I shaped some pleasant hallucinations for you... see you Sunday~!
Avatar 2:55am Bill Mac:

Hey John, you have another chance this coming Sunday @ 9am on the Drummer Stream... maybe I'll see you all there! Take it easy!
Avatar 2:59am Franco Twinkie:

Great show, Bill. Thanks!
