Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Hi UM!!
Good day everyone!
Did I miss the pimento cheese recipe last week?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:48am Uncle Michael:

Uncle Michael’s Pimento Cheese Spread/Dip

8 oz. grated orange extra sharp cheddar (not any fancy brand!)
4 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
4 oz. mayonnaise
1 tsp. hot sauce (I prefer Melinda’s Original Habanero XXXtra Hot Sauce)
2-4 scallions (depending on size) finely sliced
1 four-ounce jar of diced pimientos (if substituting roasted red peppers, add a ¼ tsp salt)

With a hand mixer, cream the cream cheese, mayo and hot sauce.
Fold in grated cheddar, scallions and pimientos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am Asheville Jon:

Oh sweetness! I will have to make some this weekend with the kids!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am listener james from westwood:

Hey hey, all!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Mark Hurst:

Pimento magnifico!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm listener Rey:

Im guessing a Southwest hometown today
  12:01pm Dean:

Anybody have good ideas for recipes with a bunch of red and green peppers? I don't want to do a ratatouille, I've already done sausages smothered in onions and peppers, I don't want a pepper sauce, and I'm blasé about stuffed peppers, though I might try the latter with an interesting twist.

Hi UM! Hello fellow Dinkinauts!
Avatar 12:04pm Roberto:

No love for St. Louie, eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Mark Hurst:

"The Climatron, there's only one!"
Avatar 12:05pm βrian:

@dean: would you enjoy a sauce more if you called it a coulis?
  12:05pm Alex in Illinois:

Gaslight Square and the S S Admiral are no more
Avatar 12:06pm barrett785:

Boo Cards!
  12:06pm rw:

Dean, I'd do veg chili with corn bread.
Avatar 12:07pm βrian:

Wrong season for chili, really. Love chili, though.

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Uncle Michael:

Jon! James! Bob! Mark! Rey! Dean! Doug! Roberto! Burke! Joe! Duke! Rich! Brian! Alex! Barrett! rw!
  12:08pm Dean:

@βrian: I'd enjoy a sauce more if I called it bird poop. Then I'd make a bird poop soup.

@rw: That's worth adding to the shortlist. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Dominick:

Yay! UM has the cojones to play this!
Avatar 12:10pm βrian:

If you can make a good crust, quiche with roasted peppers, mushrooms, tomato, and Gruyère is nice.
  12:11pm rw:

And UM, Melinda's huh? Haven't tried it. We usually default to Tapatio. I'll look for it. You can't have too many bottles of hot sauce!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Webhamster Henry:

Greeting, Hinky Dinky shoppers!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Webhamster Henry:

Oh so groovy! Bathtubs Over Broadway (Industrial Musical documentary) is starting to win awards!
Avatar 12:15pm βrian:

I tell myself I don't like quiche. Then my wife makes a beautiful quiche, and I love quiche again.
  12:16pm Dean:

@rw and all: A must-try hot sauce, Paul's Haba Haba

And Bigfat's 708 and 808, the latter being REALLY hot.
Avatar 12:18pm Roberto:

When I was on a flight from Madrid to NYC I sat next to a cute li'l Spanish gal. I asked her where she was going and she answered "San Luis." I thought about it for a moment and realized she was referring toe St Louis, MO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm joe:

Big Big Monkey Man.
Avatar 🥁 12:19pm burke:

Best rock song ever about monkeys and pizza.
Avatar 12:19pm Roberto:

Referring to, not toe.
Avatar 12:19pm βrian:

That reminds me of Matouk's which is made with papaya. It has some dubious additives, though.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Uncle Michael:

My cold slice of pizza could use a lemon squeeza.
Avatar 12:21pm Roberto:

I used to sing Monkey Man in my crappy cover band.
Avatar 🥁 12:21pm Listening Out There:

Always like this Stones song. Then again, I was born in the Year of the Monkey...
Avatar 12:21pm Roberto:

In the pre-internet days I had to figure out WTF Mick was saying. It was challenging.
  12:21pm rw:

Oh, man. So much sauce. So little time. Thanks Dean!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Dominick:

  12:31pm rw:

Speaking of hot sauce and pizza, I've been infusing honey with a chopped cayenne pepper to drizzle over pizza. Delicious. Red peppers make a good pizza topping too!
  12:32pm Dean:

But Koko was a gorilla...
Avatar 12:32pm ndbob:

I found that Dickinson record in a nice pile of 45s I was given
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm joe:

I didn't know about Koko. That really makes me sad. Her coming to public attention very much paralleled my growing up. She was constantly on shows I watched as a child and made many appearances with in my schooling.
Avatar 12:39pm ndbob:

there's a great gorilla song - "Go Go Gorilla:"
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Uncle Michael:

Dean, my love acknowledges no such boundaries.

Very cool, Bob.

Likewise, Joe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm annie:

There was one summer where I pretty much listened to nothing but the first six Lux & Ivy's Favorites mixes. Pretty much perfect summer listening in my book.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Rich in Washington:

Those Lux & Ivy collections are something else. Bless Kogar the Swinging Ape (speaking of monkeys)...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Uncle Michael:

Kogar seems a bit verklempt about Koko on social media.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar 1:20pm βrian:

The internets seem to imply that there is a "Flint" version for "My Home Town." I'd love to hear those lyrics.
Avatar 1:28pm βrian:

Durn, I pegged this as the Um-Loüts.
But no.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Rich in Washington:

I think by then they finally figured out how to capture that 300 megaton blast in the studio.
  1:34pm Matt in Nebraska:

I am here! I heard the tail end of "Gang War". I almost chimed in but work makes it hard to comment sometimes.
  1:37pm Dean:

A band called Bakery? I guess I've heard it all.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Uncle Michael:

Matt! Glad you caught it.

Patisserie was taken. So was Panaderia.

"I'll take a dozen of those deep purple blueberry muffins."
Avatar 1:39pm βrian:

In Wisconsin, they call baked goods "bakery." Weird.
  1:40pm Dean:

Panaderia. RIP, Dimebag.
  1:42pm Matt in Nebraska:

I think it would be cooler if Panera Bread was Pantera Bread.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm The Oscar:

One time I overheard a somewhat haggard couple at the train station struggling with their phones trying to figure out how to pull up Pantera. It was a good five-ten minutes before I realized they meant Pandora.
Avatar 1:46pm βrian:

Sure, but once they find it, the cat will be out of the bag and they'll be sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm The Oscar:

Legitimately thought this was going to be a cover of "Der Fuhrer's Face."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm listener james from westwood:

Likewise! This is the post–Marshall Plan version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Rich in Washington:

This is Vocal Fry material!
Avatar 1:59pm βrian:

If only Blind Willie and Yat Kha could have toured together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Rich in Washington:

I always found the band name Pantera funny. It was also the name of a school for troubled youths near where I grew up.
Avatar 🥁 2:01pm burke:

"Pantera Bread Company" is a joke that I have driven into the ground over the years.
