Good Morning Joe & All Listeners!!
Soothing Sounds 4 A Memorial Day!!!
Avatar 9:18am Joe McG:

@TDK60: Surprisingly, I have a lot of old cassettes that still play fine. I think as long as you didn't bake 'em in your car, cassettes have a longer life than people used to say they did.
Swag For Life Member 9:23am Rich in NC:

Hello Joe
Avatar 9:25am Joe McG:

Hey, Rich! Hey Guido! Thanks again, Guido -- will play something from the comp you sent me later this morning.
  9:25am Layet J:

Beautiful today Joe
Avatar 9:27am Joe McG:

Welcome, Layet j--keeping it easy and pretty for a little while on this holiday morning....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am Irene Trudel:

Lovely, languid start to the day, Joe!
  9:29am the illuminated void:

I like the groove thank you . great for writing
Avatar 9:30am Joe McG:

I love the word "languid," Irene, so perfect an adjective for what I've been going for.
  9:30am Jeff, the Butterman:

As an old( 43) deadhead, my life's music is on cassette. Still listen to them everyday in my car. It's still the best way to listen to dead shows as an entire 2nd set fits perfectly on one cassette. With no track breaks. Perfect. Shoulda called myself XL290!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am melinda:

Nice start! I like the languid.
Avatar 9:33am Joe McG:

It's nice to have so many of you here, regulars and new folks. I never expect much company on these holiday shows.
  9:34am Andy:

Joe McGasko you are the best most endlessly musical DJ in the northern hemisphere. :)
Avatar 9:35am creeeatura:

Hi Joe, hi everyone! I almost never comment but love the show indeed :-) Greetings from Europe.
Avatar 9:36am Todd-o-phonic Todd:

"Easy and pretty..." the 2 words I always associate with you, Joe.
Avatar 9:36am Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Not the music you play btw....just you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am annie:

loving this joe. it's THE place to be for a day such as this.. if i miss a monday morning i'm languishing in misery the rest of the day. i wanted to use languish another time, too.. it's a good day to turn off the book of faces and turn the tunes on. and all war movies on TCM, this is the last day of non-stop flag-waving. i want to see Johnny got his gun.. ok, i'm done.. drawing triangles is on the docket for today.
Avatar 9:38am Joe McG:

Ha ha, Todd! Thanks, all you guys are being so swell this morning. I'm feeling good and you're making me feel even better.

Love this Shirley Ellis, Joe -- was a staple on CD mixes I made for my then-infants. It's a pretty kid-friendly jam!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am Webhamster Henry:

For a second I though this was from the Robert Mitchum Calypso Is Just So record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am Hughie Considine:

Wow, @Joe, this is cool -- Harry Belafonte's "Hold 'Em Joe" was also a staple on those CD mixes for my kids. This Blind Blake is just fantabulous.
Avatar 10:41am Joe McG:

@Hughie: It's a fun one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am Michele:

Joe! I called and emailed you! I am coming to the station and hope to be there by 12:30. You will be there right?

Avatar 10:50am Jersey Cowboy:

Wow - this is awesome - and its katrina and the waves?!?!
Avatar 10:53am Joe McG:

@JC: Yeah, odd, right? The B is "Going Down to Liverpool," which I would've made the A.
Avatar 10:55am KP:

Speaking of country, saw Willie Nelson last night down heah. It was actually in the building we live in, which is convenient. And he was tremendous!
Avatar 10:57am Joe McG:

@KP: So cool! He's on a bill with Van Morrison, author of the song currently playing, this fall in NY.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am Hughie Considine:

Great version. "Bride Stripped Bare" doesn't seem to get much love but I think it's one of Mr. Ferry's finest solo lps.
  10:58am melinda:

I liked high-speed Bryan Ferry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Hughie Considine:

me too~

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Uncle Michael:

I have a pretty good second hand "Bruno" Willis story...but I don't tell it well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Mike Sin:

@John in Bklyn -- same thing i thought after Joe mentioned Demi Moore: " How many tracks did she write for 'The Return of Bruno' album?!
  11:22am melinda:

Good one, John
  11:24am melinda:

Did Bruce Willis actually do an album? All I remember is a a cringey turn in an ad for Seagrams wine coolers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Hughie Considine:

The Return of Bruno, @melinda - seek it if you dare
  11:26am John in Bklyn:

I guess she had a thing for musicians! I don't know what was worse, Willis' rug or his music.

Nice version of True Love

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am Uncle Michael:

Mott the Hopple?
  11:32am John in Bklyn:

Loved Glass Eye back in the day!
  11:36am Rick A.:

The Kathy McCarty song was used in the film Before Sunrise. I guess it's an Austin connection. I saw her on the tour for this album at Brownies, a now defunct venue on Avenue A in the East Village. It was a great show. She had a full band and performed the album almost exclusively. The single version of that song is a bit better than the album version. It might make a good Single File selection.
  11:37am Ignore Function:

This Sonny Smith album is my favorite of the year so far.
Avatar 11:38am Joe McG:

@Rick: I forgot that it was in that film! I love that whole trilogy. Wish I owned the single to play! :) @ignore: Sonny is such a nice guy, he was on the show a couple of years ago.
  11:43am Listener Alexandra:

Just woke up (taking today off!) to hear one of my favorite songs by The Perfect Disaster. SO GOOD. Thanks, Joe!
Avatar 11:44am Joe McG:

Nice! I love when that happens, Alexandra! :)
  11:44am John in Bklyn:

This sounds like something I would have loved in 1988. I'm not hip to them at all. Great tune.
  11:44am Will:

Oh man, I love this Perfect Disaster song. Dig deep Joe!
  11:44am Listener Alexandra:
