"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Good Morning Everybody! I just shut and restarted my player thinking "Wake Up" was all fucked up. It wasn't.

OK so Branca is not Jazz. What is he?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am steveo:

good morning; so many classic FMU moments already
Avatar 9:19am Lixiviated Life:

Apparently Branca is "the combination of notes that are in harmony with each other due to the relationship between their frequencies."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am karlward:

JA: is this jazz? Asking for the entire audience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am Chris E:

This makes me feel in harmonics with the sun

Really been digging the Branca we've been hearing here. Sad that it's because of his passing.

good morning john and everyone. as someone who LOVES demonology/occult/hell stuff (i even wrote a short story about Baal for class in college), I am loving this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am Chris E:

It's ten to four pm and eighty degrees here. After having been out in the sun since noon when Clay went on, and more than a few pints in me (it's a long weekend here) this is seriously giving me heat stroke. I love it :)

Is asking if Glenn Branca is Jazz some kind of new noise hipster meme?
Avatar 10:06am Polyus:

Day 2 of having Circle In The Sand by Belinda Carlisle stuck in my head. Maybe the heavy jazz rock will finally be the thing to dislodge it? It's like a bad case of the hiccups, I've tried everything.

Yeah, the song with the hidden Black Sabbath!
  10:19am Don S:

so i'm not the only one who hears 'sabbath bloody sabbath'...
  10:26am R.P.:

"Spermarket received extensive college radio airplay in the United States and ranked as the number one record of the year by Northwestern University station WNUR.[8] Within a year of its release, Spermarket sold just over 1,200 copies and the label had paid the band a little more than $1,000 in royalties.[9] Liimanarina had hoped to tour the United States in 1997, but Drag City did not have the funds to support them at the time. The group broke up soon thereafter."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am karlward:

Wait a minute, isn't this a cover of the John Mayer song of the same name?
Avatar 10:36am John Allen:

The band's name was originally Yhteiskunnallisesti Puhtaat Munat ("socially fresh eggs") but they later shortened it to make themselves more marketable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am karlward:

I definitely hear John Mayer shredding on the guitar in the background. In fact he has always been there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am Devin B.:

Yay!
Avatar 10:40am Lixiviated Life:

Hey! What's so "funny" all of a sudden?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am maestroso:

Avatar 11:12am John Allen:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am steveo:
