Avatar 3:03pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

This sounds like 75 Dollar Bill or some African rock music.
Avatar 3:04pm northguineahills:

Awww, nabbit, I thought Jim Price said the oboe code!
Avatar 3:04pm northguineahills:

I was thinking the same thing, Wild Neil!
Avatar 3:05pm northguineahills:

w/ a little kraut thrown in for good fun!

mmmm, sour kraut! I need to eat lunch (I have some leftover Korean w/ various kimchis).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Scott Williams:

HALLLOOOOOO, fokes! It's a guy calling himself Junk Nurse, not sure who it really is. @Sandy, psyched to hear your session on Marcel's show!
Avatar 3:06pm Chris from DC:

I will never harm an oboe nor by inaction allow an oboe to come to harm. That's the oboe code.
Avatar 3:08pm Sandy:

It was a good session! I'm looking forward to hearing it too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Trip (satellite state):

Scott! Cheyenne says they'd like to bring me on board the good ship! Just sent the release info today, I'm stoked! <3
Avatar 3:12pm northguineahills:

jaja, Chris!
Avatar 3:12pm northguineahills:

word, Trip!
Avatar 3:14pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Who has oboe cake?
Avatar 3:14pm crateslinger:

Oboe, he didn't!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Uncle Michael:

Holy crap this Electric Rockin' Chair is good.
Avatar 3:17pm Parq:

I wondered who Linda Hirst was, and in case anyone else does:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Scott Williams:

Excellent news, Trip!
  3:24pm melinda:

I like the human trapped rhythms
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm fred:

Good afternoon Scott and listeners
Avatar 3:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

haven't heard no pulcinella in a dog's age.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Scott Williams:

new stuffs, Rev!
  3:35pm :}:

Pulcinella /Slits has me pulsating!
Avatar 3:39pm northguineahills:

I oboed out loud, crateslinger! (wish I had an oboe).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm thedunkel:

  3:45pm Pas Musique:

Avatar 3:49pm Bas NL:

Avatar 3:49pm Chris from DC:

  3:50pm medson:

Hola Scott / Everyone
Avatar 3:51pm northguineahills:

I'm oboeing to lunch, hear y'alls there! (fuuuuu, it's almost 4)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Scott Williams:

OK I'm taking your requests for thee best oboe/cello duet music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Rob (Jerzcity):

Ligeti's Atmospheres but it's more like a duet with a dozen other instruments
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Stevel:

Cool story on how Kent State shootings directly affected the development of DEVO and other Cleveland/Akron area bands.

Avatar 4:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Funny, I went straight to Ligeti as well.
My patron saint. Or spirit animal. Or something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm Scott Williams:

Thanks for the link Stevel! Chris Butler of Tin Huey / Waitresses traces a lotta development to that moment too - and he's still good 'n' angry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Scott Williams:

OK that's 2, we're goin' Ligeti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Greg from ZONE 5:

I'm late! Stupid work people making me do work things.
Avatar 4:10pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

His double concerto for Oboe & flute may not qualify, but it's good eatin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Scott Williams:

hola Greggy! Work is stupid, NY surfin's fun! Here comes Gary Wilson
Avatar 4:13pm Parq:

Stevel, thanks, what a great piece. The world in which I remember Devo breaking (ca. 1979, and I was in Boston at the time) was so different from the world of 1969 and Kent State that the connection between the two shows how deep cultural roots can be.
  4:13pm blair doing deliveries:

  4:22pm crow crew:

this tape!
  4:24pm Pas Musique:

Any compositions with a "moss covered three handled family gredunza?"
  4:25pm melinda:

The WTF interview with Mark Mothersbaugh touched on the Kent State connection as well. I hadn't realized they went back that far.
  4:25pm \"/:

Anything with Lindsay Cooper & Georgina Born?
Avatar 4:28pm northguineahills:

When I both met Tyondai Braxton and Lucas Ligeti, I eventually started talking about their respective fathers and their work, until I realized, they get that all the time, and then turned the conversation to their own work (and I lfigeach of the aforementioneds' work as well)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm tom from Glasgow:

hello!! happy birthday for like 5 days ago or something, oops
  4:33pm McGreivey:

I missed the oboe/cello solicitation. I vote for Roy Wood/ ELO but tracks have oboe+cello off the top of my head.
  4:33pm Pas Musique:

I had the chance to play with Lucas Ligeti. Cool guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C52JhQhBws
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm ♪ke:

Youse guys really need to make a new e-mail address for Joe McG., like maybe LSD at wfmu dot org. Easy to remember!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Rob (Jerzcity):

oooohhh! how....atmospheric
Avatar 4:37pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 4:38pm Chris from DC:

Also yay.
Avatar 4:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I keep tracking copies of the Wergo box set of Ligeti stuff on Discogs, will pull the trigger on that sucker one of these days...
  4:39pm Pas Musique:

Triple yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Rob (Jerzcity):

thanks for this, Scott! Recently read Space Odyssey: Stanley Kubrick, Arthur C. Clarke, and the Making of a Masterpiece, so the Ligeti was fresh in me head
Avatar 4:42pm northguineahills:

@Pas Musique: About a decade ago, my band kept on trying to play w/ Lucas Ligeti, but our schedules never intersected.
Avatar 4:42pm northguineahills:

What the Druid and Chris said....
Avatar 4:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

his "clocks & clouds" composition is probably my favorite piece by anyone in any genre forever.
Avatar 4:50pm northguineahills:

@ the Rev: yep!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm fred:

I like this Tasos Stamou track. No planned performance in my area, sadly
Avatar 5:01pm Parq:

Ike @ 4:34 - I suddenly had this picture of Joe performing "Love Power" from "The Producers".
Avatar 5:02pm Parq:

Scott, the show is so wonderfully strange today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm chris:

moo, Scott and folks. moo verily.
Avatar 5:08pm Honeybear:

what a beautiful language
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm common:

excellent! hello Scott and all
  5:08pm McGreivey:

Should next year's premium be covers if German psych?
  5:10pm McGreivey:

(Asking for a friend)
  5:10pm melinda:

I live Beautiful Flyaway
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm fred:

@Scott: didn't you play another Für Elise inspired track a couple of weeks ago?
Avatar 5:11pm Honeybear:

the next monty hall karaoke nite should be german psyche
  5:11pm melinda:

It sounds like it came from a musical
  5:12pm melinda:

Love, not live. Gaah.
Avatar 5:12pm Roberto:

This sounds like heavily-Kinks-influenced Alice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Scott Williams:

Fred's paying close attention! Haha, yes I did. @Roberto, I hear Nilsson writing for Sparks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Honeybear - Hosted by Professor Dum Dum!
  5:14pm andrewb:

Was Bob Ezrin already involved with Alice Cooper on Easy Action or who else would be playing piano?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Scott Williams:

@andrewb, nope that's David Briggs!
Avatar 5:18pm TDK60:

How-do, late.
  5:19pm andrewb:

Thanks maestro

Avatar 5:26pm northguineahills:

@Bas: And from your homeland too!
Avatar 5:28pm Bas NL:

Very much so @ngh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm fred:

Zuider Zee looks like a Netherlands reference too
Avatar 5:31pm Bas NL:

Yep @fred; it's the old name for the watery bit in the middle of the N'lands..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm Rob (Jerzcity):

I haven't seen Super Troopers 2 yet, but I'm pretty sure from the trailer they rip this off
Avatar 5:34pm northguineahills:

I thought it was Anne-James Chaton & Andy Moor!
  5:34pm risky:

Wiggle rock
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm fred:

Anne-James Chaton and Andy Moor will be playing at my fave venue next month. I'll be there
Avatar 5:37pm northguineahills:

@fred: Cool! I've never seen Anne-James Chaton, but I've seen Andy Moor w/ the Ex.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm fred:

I haven't seen The Ex this year, but Terrie Ex will be playing at the same place a week before Andy Moor (with Kaja Draksler)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm fred:

c_c! I know this guy (it's still weird to me when I hear someone I know on the station)
  5:45pm risky:

Lovin this a bit too much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Scott Williams:

whole disc is great! I like his method (4-tr cassette deck output run thru pedals, output of the pedals going back into the 4-tr). guy named Eduardo Ribuyo
Avatar 5:49pm Bas NL:

Very hypnotic this track!
Avatar 5:49pm TDK60:

Dance round the cassette deck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm fred:

@TDK60: indeed. He likes to play in the middle of the audience (crowd would be overstating it), sometimes with a strobe light flashing. His shows are a lot of fun
Avatar 5:55pm northguineahills:

gneiss, I dig c_c!
Avatar 5:56pm TDK60:

Danke for tunes, Scott.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm chris:

ja ja, danke, Scott!
Avatar 5:58pm northguineahills:

Thanks Scott!
Avatar 5:58pm Bas NL:

Thanks Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm fred:

At first I thought it would turn into a Hells Bells cover
Thanks Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Rob (Jerzcity):
