Clicky star for this most excellent jazz by Lee Morgan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Passaic River Blues:

Holy shit does that Stephen Merritt special sound tantalizing. What a get, Irwin!
Avatar 3:03pm Listening Out There:

Funny. I just watched "Downsizing" last night...
  3:05pm Laura L:

Nice photo--who made it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Irwin:

Me did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Irwin:

Josh was on the streets of Hoboken, right outside Jack's apartment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm BronwynB:

hello irwin and everyone!
  3:15pm Tony Seymour:

Poetry day. Hey. Got the sun rays story to ferlinghetti.
Avatar 3:21pm Chud:

Fantastic version of the Snuff Box Theme!
Avatar 3:26pm Listening Out There:

I think Josh is a voyeur...
Avatar 3:26pm βrian:

I thought it was just a very tall curb.
Avatar 3:26pm Linda Lee:

well done Irwin! i see a workout.
Avatar 3:27pm Jeff Moore:

You should use Fotomat!
Avatar 3:28pm βrian:

The development time for group-IV tiffs is crazy, these days.
  3:28pm Dean:

If Dickens were alive today, he'd be serializing novels on drugstore receipts.
  3:29pm Laura L:

It may be that only his underpants are named Josh!
  3:29pm IBJ:

Are you sure Josh wasn't Fusco?
Avatar 3:29pm βrian:

Zola, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Irwin:

Yes, LL, perhaps it's a brand logo.
Avatar 3:30pm βrian:

I marveled that every kid in the dorm seemed to be named Calvin.
Avatar 3:31pm Linda Lee:

alas, i fear Josh-wearing Josh is no more. there's a novel right there ~ full of humor, drama & pathos: "Josh of Lilliput".
  3:32pm Dean:

Maybe "josh" is a verb. Maybe the guy wearing the drawers--let's call him Kyle--doesn't know he's being made fun of.
Avatar 3:33pm βrian:

Josh was the great grandson of Mr Bill.
  3:33pm Dean:

If this hypothesis is correct, then maybe we should add...an adverb!
Avatar 3:34pm βrian:

Is Rickily an adverb? As in, I rickily jones for some coffee.
Avatar 3:34pm Linda Lee:

could even be a serial! "Josh Gets His Underpants" ~ "Josh Among The Giants" ~ "Kicked To The Curb" ~ "Josh And The Squirrel"! not only a serialized novel, but a webcomic! Josh's own blog! Josh brand Underpants! Josh the Movie! ~
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm melinda:

Hi all. I like the tiny curb man.
Avatar 3:35pm Linda Lee:

hi melinda! how are you?
Avatar 3:35pm βrian:

"Adverbally, adverbally, I say unto thee ..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm melinda:

Hi Linda! I'm ok.
Avatar 3:36pm Linda Lee:

glad to hear it! :-)
Avatar 3:40pm βrian:

@melinda: What kind of music did your dad like?
  3:44pm andrewb:

always thought that bowie number sounded like Tchaikovsky or was that the idea
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm melinda:

@Brian: classical, opera, old country, bluegrass, klezmer, Norteño, calypso, 1950s rock n roll. Thanks for asking.
Avatar 3:46pm Linda Lee:

melinda, i'm sorry, has something happened?
Avatar 3:47pm Linda Lee:

i'll understand if you can't say.
Avatar 3:48pm βrian:

Quite the breadth! My dad pretty much stuck with Lawrence Welk and big band/swing music. WWII was the epicenter of his life.
Avatar 3:49pm βrian:

Anyway, maybe you should set yourself up with a little playlist. I found myself listening to Glen Miller.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm melinda:

@Brian that's funny. I'm glad I was exposed to a wide range of musics in my youth, most people don't stray far from a narrow segment. @Linda my dad died a couple of days ago.
Avatar 3:52pm Linda Lee:

oh no. i'm so sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm melinda:

Thanks Linda. I'm doing ok.
  3:52pm Dean:

Sorry to hear that, @melinda. My sympathies. Nice that you have fond musical memories of him.
Avatar 3:53pm Linda Lee:

so hard to lose a parent. i'm really sorry. really glad you're doing all right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm melinda:

Thanks Dean. The music was a great gift.
Avatar 3:57pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm BronwynB:

as i believe i have mentioned, rob and pea's song on the powerpuff girls tie-in cassette from 2000, which mentions shooby taylor, was my first exposure to outsider music, sort of. i was 6 and played that tape every single day. thanks rob and pea. i still love that song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm !ke:

Irwin, is your guest Phil Schaap? Please tell me it's Phil Schaap. That would be hilarious. Or boring. One of those.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Irwin:

God no, Ike. Never ever. I've been in a studio with PS once and it will suffice for a lifetime, thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Irwin:

I was gasping for oxygen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Passaic River Blues:

Oh God, Melinda--so, so truly awful. Sending north to you unreserved feelings of sympathy and condolence.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm melinda:

Thanks Passaic

When I was in Ann Arbor for one glorious summer as an engineering coop at Visteon (lived in a high rise apt with 3 other guys) there was a really cool music shop that had an Optigan.
Avatar 4:03pm βrian:

Ann Arbor is still the center of the world to me.
Avatar 4:06pm βrian:

@WN: Not University Towers, I hope. That place was frightening.
Avatar 4:16pm ciaranpuente:

haven't heard DDG on the radio in years, thanks Irwin
Avatar 4:18pm Linda Lee:

Avatar 4:18pm βrian:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Irwin and curb stompers.
@BronwynB - Did you move over the weekend? How did that go? How's the new place?
  4:19pm dug:

  4:22pm ian:

  4:24pm Ochre Ogre:

A billion dollars, awesome now the FMU DJ'S can be paid!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm BronwynB:

@ken: yes i did and thus was the only person in the entire known universe not at the record fair! the new place is amazing, thanks for asking!
Avatar 4:28pm βrian:

Which record fair?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm BronwynB:

@brian: the plain & fancy 99-cent record sale in topeka, kansas over the weekend. everyone's been talking about it!
Avatar 4:33pm βrian:

Oh, yeah. The one Uncle Michael runs out of his garage. I hear the 8-tracks on offer were without compare!
  4:38pm Ochre Ogre:

Should we inform Josh there's a break in the curb where he easily pass, though he may bloody his feet on mini sea shells, or is that popcorn?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm melinda:

Stephin Merritt, woo hoo! I look forward to that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm melinda:

Ogre those sort of look like blossom petals.
  4:51pm Ochre Ogre:

Melinda indeed thanks, my imagination gets the best of me sometimes.
Avatar 4:56pm NewWilOrder:

I've heard of pre-historic humans using each other as bait while hunting the now extinct giant sloth. Could Josh have employed the same tactic on an unsuspecting squirrel?

  4:59pm Laura L:

Thank you for the Touchy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Irwin:

Hasn't been aired on WFMU in SEVEN YEARS.
  4:59pm Marc15:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm BronwynB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm pinholga:

Such a great feeling to walk back into my office and hear the Touchy blasting away.
Avatar 5:02pm Parq:

How is it possible that that wasn't a monster hit?
  5:02pm Laura L:

I DID hear that ending! So cut it out already!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Irwin:

This album was a big inspiration for Tom Brokaw.
  5:05pm berbo:

Shouldn't this be setting off Ken's Lunk Alarm?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm BronwynB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Irwin:
