Opal's Early Recordings is one of my favorite albums. I got it on tape from the cut-out bin at the record store at the mall in the early 90s .

Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:40am Scraps ((((§)))):

whew h’lo
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:40am Linda Lee:

honestly, just experiencing spotify for the first time & it's ridiculous.
there's nothing like a dj.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:40am fred:

I have a noise record that I like equally at 45 and 33. The label and jacket offer no clue, so I go according to my mood
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:41am Aaron Working In Newark:

Great show this morning Nate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:41am Linda Lee:

@fred ~ that's lovely! great reason to use vinyl instead of digital, really. if i had big bucks i'd make a bunch of those.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:42am Linda Lee:

more challenging than you'd think, i bet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:43am Linda Lee:

i'd also make turntables without set speeds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:44am Linda Lee:

love the special interest track. yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 4/8/18 7:45am Nate K.:

@Linda Lee, that band kicks ass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:46am Linda Lee:

truly!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:47am fred:

Hello Scraps. I missed Mayuko's show yesterday, went to see my favorite singer. I could have got back in time for the 4th quarter, but instead I waited to get her to sign a record. She did, and her giggling at seeing it was worth the wait (it's a touristy thing I got at one of her shows 6 years ago)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:48am Scraps ((((§)))):

If you want to, you can speed up or slow down digitally, much more than simply 45 or 33 1/3.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:49am Scraps ((((§)))):

fred, I missed Mayuko’s show too, with not such a good reason, either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:50am fred:

@Scraps: nothing health-related, I hope
  Sun. 4/8/18 7:51am upstate sean:

Disco junkies!
There’re worse addictions....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:51am Scraps ((((§)))):

unfortunately, yeah, fred. but whatever....
  Sun. 4/8/18 7:51am Simeon stylites:

Happy orthodox Easter wfmu community!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:53am Linda Lee:

@Scraps ~ sure. that goes without saying. i like the tactile vinyl thing. always have. my idea makes it performative, too. immediate. that's the fun part.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:53am fred:

@Scraps: I hope you recover as fully as possible, and soon. We need you around here, radio family
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:54am Linda Lee:

sorry you're not well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 4/8/18 7:56am Nate K.:

@Scraps, feel better and I hope everything is OK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:56am Scraps (((§))):

thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 7:57am fred:

@Linda Lee: Do you know about the Art Kill Art label? artkillart.org
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:00am Linda Lee:

nooooo! let's go look!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 4/8/18 8:01am Ken From Hyde Park:

'Morning, Nate and gang. Nice little inferno you got going here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:02am Linda Lee:

looks pretty interesting! thanks fred. if they're heading in the direction i have in mind i'll plotz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:05am Linda Lee:

was that lyric 'if you can't find a woman to dance with, grab another man'? no? too bad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:05am fred:

@Linda Lee: Even if they don't, they could still be interested in hearing from you, if what they do is relevant to your projects. They're open minded
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:06am Linda Lee:

fantastic! thanks for the link! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:07am Linda Lee:

i did look into 3D printing for vinyl music discs .. as of now the discs produced will kill a conventional stylus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:09am Linda Lee:

my gosh who's playing that slide guitar on the 'the holy spirit'? they're possessed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:17am fred:

@Linda Lee: Yann Leguay has done some nice stuff with vinyl, like putting a blank one with a blade on the cell cutting a path ahead
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:17am Linda Lee:

oh my!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:18am Linda Lee:

what's creating the groove formation?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:19am fred:

@Linda Lee: I only saw/heard the thing, you'll have to ask him about the tricks involved
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:20am Linda Lee:

there's video, i'll look.
thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:21am Linda Lee:

wondering if this is basically like wax cylinder technology, where the mic'ed sound is directly driven into the material? assume so! unless there isn't any sound :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:22am Linda Lee:

really excited about that place where the material & the sonic get together, .. which is vibrational.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:25am fred:

@Linda Lee: that's pretty much where Art Kill Art is. I think you speak their language, so they'd probably be interested in what you're doing
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:27am Linda Lee:

cool. love a nice recommend! thanks again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:30am Linda Lee:

it's a better morning than i expected, thanks to you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 4/8/18 8:32am ultradamno:

Alert Hurst, this needs to be Techtonic transition music.
  Sun. 4/8/18 8:35am Will:

And most importantly, Nate, your show is FUN to listen to, (Final comment in a conversation that has taken place in my head.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:37am Linda Lee:

'all mixed together' ~ very nice snapshot of my thought processes :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 4/8/18 8:37am Nate K.:

Thanks, Will. I appreciate it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:37am Linda Lee:

fun! absolutely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 4/8/18 8:47am medson:

Last set was great. My 11 yr old son recognized that Helter Skelter track. I've been playing it all week. Cant wait for that 45 to arrive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 4/8/18 8:50am Nate K.:

Thanks @Medson. I hope this Boredoms track doesn't damage your kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 4/8/18 8:53am ultradamno:

My friend Alex used to babysit his nieces. The girls became fond of Young Marble Giants which, for some reason, they insisted was Mickey Mouse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 4/8/18 8:54am fred:

I don't know how he pulled it off, but your friend Alex did a great thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 4/8/18 8:57am medson:

haha. nope all good
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sun. 4/8/18 8:59am EG_Astro:
