Hello Jeffrey and listeners.
In the Seventies BOAC has an advert for their flights called Earthshrinkers, prescient I think. One year later they became British Airways.

it's an enlightening series, for sure. my sympathies go to sheela; seems that she was steamrolled. but, that's just my take. i lived in oregon at the time this was going on and i definitely echewed commune-type places due to previous exposure to The Farm.
Avatar 7:06am
TDK60:

I heard something about those ashram folks being insensitive to the locals. // Sorry to hear you're not feeling well.
Avatar 7:09am
annie:

yeah, according to the doc, the representation of the devotees was far from positive. so much for peace, love, and understanding... good morning spamoni, hiding in the back on the bench!!
Avatar 7:10am
TDK60:

I knew communal folks from round West Virginia but they weren't cultish at all.
Avatar 7:14am
annie:

yep, up in ny where i we lived, there was a branch of the Farm people there. i knew many of them and i liked them alot. they had broken off from the "homeland" so to speak. i wonder if being in a group like that defins how you worship spirit later in your life. the people i know are now devout christians
Avatar 7:20am
Scraps h’m (h’mmm):

I don’t know if you can point firmly the causality arrow one way or the other. Maybe those people are wired to look for spirituality....

For various reasons, I haven't caught your show in a long time, and I'd forgotten how great it is. And seriously, has Tompkins Square ever released an album that wasn't beautiful?

Brian in UK: yup. spamoni: h'lo there. Mark R: I don't think so.
Avatar 7:34am

yeah, TDK, that was my camp and pretty much still is, spiritual leanings go towards quakerism and buddhism. and i'm a rabid environmentalist.
