"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

91.9 fm on my old fashioned fm radio; I guess you didn't hear that phrase in the timothy. i'm sorry that my joke was not amusing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am sphere:

this von hausselwolff is really nice
  10:58am Polyus:

So this is Anna Von Hausswolff’s pop?
Avatar 10:59am John Allen:

No 91.9 pirates interfering with 91.9 in the Bronx? There's one in southern Brooklyn. Curse those bastards.
Avatar 11:08am TDK60:

No iinterference at 91.9 right now eik.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am steveo:

i'm in hell's kitchen, presently, ike

Same here. Perfect for working at home on a snowy day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Ken From Hyde Park:

Derp ... power dropped here for like ten seconds, and did it again a couple minutes later. I rather hope it doesn't go down indefinitely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am ⓘⓘⓘⓘⓘⓚⓔ:

@TDK, what neighborhood? @steveo, Hell's Kitchen should be pretty safe from pirate fuzz. If going north, you start noticing them around Harlem. South, some are audible in Bed-Stuy and Bushwick, but mostly not until you get to Prospect Park.
Avatar 11:23am TDK60:

noticed that droop
Avatar 11:24am TDK60:

I'm in the Hudson Heights section of Washington Heights, right next to the G.W. Bridge, not far from the Bronx.
  11:25am George of Troy:

Good morning, JA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am =ⓘⓚⓔ=:

Thanks TDK. You should have some pirates audible up there. Good to hear that 91.9 is OK. You hear anybody shouting in Spanish at 90.9 or 91.3?
Avatar 11:29am TDK60:

Nothing in those spots now. I have heard the interrupters at 91.9 before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am =ⓘⓚⓔ=:

Thanks. Come to think of it, many of them stick to nights and weekends to evade the Man (the FCC). They think the Man is only out looking for them from 9 to 5.
  11:33am Alicia Renee:

90.9 around Inwood has often been a crap shoot (tho I'm not up there of late...& most often streaming lately too)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am steveo:

not sure where that segue was so clicky-star for both
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am steveo:

1952? wow..... yeah, last time i tried 91.9 at home in brooklyn (prospect heights), i had pirates; my building mostly blocks the weak wfmu signal on that frequency there too, i think.
Avatar 11:35am TDK60:

We may have had this discussion before; I don't mind pirates except when they ruin it for others, like us Woofmooers. Headed out to Brooklyn now (to impress folks with my 1890s handlebar mustache and beard like The Band) But there, WFMU will be via the interwebs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am ɨkɛ:

To make matters even more difficult for FMU, a 90.9 Haitian pirate seems to have gotten MUCH stronger in Jersey lately. Not cool. Lots of ads for businesses in Irvington, so maybe it's from there. And then there's another one in Flatbush.
  11:38am partyfinger:

alright musci and venosta no one plays Italian bands anymore
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am steveo:

this set is hitting a spot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am queems:

i just bought that matias aguyao album last night
Avatar 11:40am TDK60:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am maestroso:

Wonderful show JA, thanks!
Avatar 11:49am TDK60:

Heading out the door. 91.1 and 91.9 FM still clear....
  12:00pm Naila:

This is beautiful. Perfect soundtrack to Snowmageddon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm steveo:

thanks, JA. see you next week
  12:03pm partyfinger:
