Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm BronwynB:

  3:13pm P-90:

Ciao Fabio and all the Super Failure Friends
  3:13pm Dean:

I repeat myself, but my favorite Fall track is "Repetition." It's my favorite, and it is. Favorite Fall track? Glad you asked. "Repetition." I like "Repetition."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm listener james from westwood:

Can't be the only FMU lis'ner who thought of this show first when we heard the news.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm BronwynB:

That transition where Diane's theme music goes into that little snippet that connects the two of you and then "Mr. Giant Man" plays is genuinely one of the highlights of my week. It's just so classic WFMU
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm BronwynB:

i know that's a random thought but i felt the need to say it
  3:14pm P-90:

Remembering the Fallen
  3:15pm Dean:

You dig the liminal, BronwynB.
  3:18pm khd:

drinking a long draught down for the fallen, rip mes
Avatar 3:19pm Chris from DC:

I have yet to toast MES properly, but hopefully tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Mike da Scag:

I was baptized by a hip priest. Early 70s catholic bearded guitar strumming youth group curating dude. Eventually got caught molesting the boys. Hip priest.
  3:20pm MUWFInMA:

i’m into C.B. - rip
Avatar 3:21pm northguineahills:

Our love for M.E.S. is a perfect time for Fabio to go full pop on us.
Avatar 3:22pm uuee:

Good afternoon, Fabio and the Failure Gallery! So THIS is The Fall. They never entered into my consciousness. RIP, whomever you were.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm melinda:

Hi everyone
  3:23pm Tony:

Listener James: I associate The Fall more with Brian Turner than Fabio.
Avatar 3:24pm Lixiviated Life:

tuned in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm The Oscar:

Said it before, but as sad as I am about MES, I'm psyched for how much Fall is inevitably going to be played here in the coming week.
Avatar 3:25pm slugluv1313:

valium! valium! valium! one of my favorite Fall tracks
good afternoon, everyone
thank you, Fabio, for all The Fall
Avatar 3:26pm Lixiviated Life:

  3:26pm brainiac:

Could it be said that M.E.S. was the world's most successful failure? Or would that be David Yow?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm steveo:

"Your brain is eight-twelfths of thought off"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm pinholga:

How are we a half hour in with no one saying "Strength through Fall-ure"???
  3:31pm Fall Forward:

Jesus Lizard & Scratch Acid deserve airplay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm listener james from westwood:

@tony: Ah, yes, true that! Fall DNA is in lots of FMU shows.
  3:31pm MUWFInMA:

huh, if you don’t like puns can you really go with the fall? I wonder upon reading the Fall-ure comment... thx

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Greetings, Fabio and Fallures
  3:33pm pj:

Saw the Fall perform several years back. Mark E Smith was such a farging arsehole to everyone (band, audience) I could not enjoy the show. RIP in any case.
  3:34pm J:

I remember Hip Priest's appearance in Silence of the Lambs. It was that tune right?
  3:35pm J:

Please play a LOT more of the Fall. Greatest band that ever was
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm The Oscar:

I remember in my college radio days some friends and I were drafted to DJ a freshman orientation event. The highlight was musical chairs to "Who Makes the Nazis." We were not invited to DJ any further events.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Zetti:

long horn, lutz heck
Avatar 3:39pm Chris from DC:

Avatar 3:42pm Lixiviated Life:

more memories from my years listening to The New Afternoon Show WNYU FM "... exit this Roman shell"
  3:42pm jmr3:

Hey slates, give me break!
  3:42pm MUWFInMA:

give the drummer a Fall stream for crumpets sake MES envisioned as a nicotine stained broken winged deathheads moth: The moth also has numerous other unusual features. It has the ability to emit a loud squeak if irritated. The sound is produced by expelling air from its proboscis. Ok, be goodly, life is better when you fall...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Joe D.:

inciting someone to leave London by telling them to "exit this Roman shell!" still knocks me out, every time. MES was the most evocative motherfucker on the planet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Devin B.:

Here's a favie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Passaic River Blues:

I grew up primarily a house-and-hip-hop-loving and punk-denying kid but somewhere along the line I heard “Barmy” (maybe on WVKR) and had to reorient my mind to accommodate the fact that this Fall stuff banged pretty hard and was smart and bizarre. Here’s hoping Smith is being aggressively witty and shitty to people in the great beyond.
Avatar 3:50pm slugluv1313:

@ The Oscar - priceless!!!
Avatar 3:51pm geezerette:

Rolling Stone says he was SING-ular.
Avatar 3:53pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Late to the potty.
Perverted by Language = among the favorites.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Rory:

Lost Mark E.Smith, Hugh Masekela and Ursula K. Le Guin all in one week.
  3:54pm combokid:

I am Pure as Oranj amazing Fall album
  3:54pm Mark Williams:

this song (Garden) is transcendent. It really is. And MES's delivery is a huge part of it (lyrics notwithstanding).
  3:56pm Dean:

Played This Nation's Saving Grace for the kids last night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm melinda:

Your Heart Out was the first Fall song I heard. Love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Carmichael:

Never heard the Fall until FMU. Just catching up with the news. Does Mr. Smith merit 3 hours? Not a knock, just a question. 32 studio albums? Sheez ...
  3:56pm Dean:

And Happy Valley Band's ORGANVM PERCEPTVS, which somehow seemed appropriate.
Avatar 3:57pm TDK60:

Fabio, Don't tell us you're going to discontinue your comments on Clay's Wake and Bake show. It can't be!
  3:57pm Dean:

Three hours? Easily.
Avatar 3:58pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 3:59pm slugluv1313:

@ Rory - yes! was just thinking that!
Avatar 4:00pm TDK60:

Rory, yes I dig both LeGuin and Masekela.
Avatar 4:01pm Lixiviated Life:

it's been a fantastic LIfE
Avatar 4:02pm Chris from DC:

Talk over music? This is great.
Avatar 4:02pm chocolate monk:

thanks for those couple of sets, man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm doncaballero:

Thanks Fabio! That set was just what I needed
  4:03pm jmr3:

that set had me totally wired
  4:04pm musicliver:

One of the best bands ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm chris:

failure to play well with pop culture
  4:10pm J:

Lou Reed, Mark E.... we're losing all the good grumps
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Rory:

Here's something I'm going to throw out there. A marathon premium of Fabio's bed music... Something to think about in the future, right?
Avatar 4:17pm TDK60:

There are other artists I like that were difficult -- Miles, Lennon, etc. But Smith seems to top them all.
Avatar 4:18pm geezerette:

I want to find that part of the afterlife where all the artists hang out and make things, compete, collaborate, dig and diss each other; next door to the part where they go to get away from each other. But first, I need a religion...they have all the maps.
  4:23pm Betsy O:

I don’t get to post much, but thanks for being here Fabio, the Fall tribute plus now Menche, all sublime,... great show!
  4:24pm Dusty Roads:

aka Robert Fripp /no pictures please!
Avatar 4:28pm TDK60:

I saw Menche a few years back. Got to talk, he was mellow to converse with; onstage, intense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Michael 98145:

i am taking a break from constantly having to explain who Hugh Masakela was -
  4:29pm musicliver:

Who was Hugh Masakela again?
Avatar 4:29pm geezerette:

  4:29pm musicliver:

doesn't wfmu's posting board discriminate against people who can't do basic math?
  4:29pm Saltonstall:

Hugh Masakela's anecdote about attending a hardcore gig was great.
  4:30pm Dean:

Hugh Masekela? Just tell 'em he was a former member of The Fall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Michael 98145:

Avatar 4:32pm northguineahills:

@Dean: Me might of, and didn't remember.... '83?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm steveo:

@musicliver create a login and it will trust you more
  4:35pm Saltonstall:

I think Hugh may have seen Black Flag on the My War tour. I wonder what he thought of Octoberfaction and Painted Willie.
Avatar 4:38pm TDK60:

Masekela saw Black Flag during the My War tour?! Huh. So did I.
  4:38pm musicliver:

Thanks Steveo. I prob. should. Glad I can do basic math (sometimes)
  4:41pm musicliver:

I was just thinking about lint vaccuums
  4:42pm musicliver:

Boogie Nights--one of my faves
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Michael 98145:

i think the detector has gone off
Avatar 4:48pm TDK60:

Do we know what Hugh's reaction to Henry was?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Linda Lee:

Fabio, please don't end 'Quick Takes' on Wake & Bake. we need that touch of class. thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Mister Dobalina:

Maybe it's been too much day-drinkin' or my hearing aid needs to be re-calibrated, but I'm not hearing Fabio's voice, but it says, 'Your DJ speaks". Just want to make sure I ain't trippin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Linda Lee:

there's often a wee delay, Mister Dobalina. don't fret.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Mister Dobalina:

Oh gosh, thanks for checking in to that for me. I've been having mild trip flash-backs lately and I'm kinda glad/sad that it wasn't just 'me'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Mister Dobalina:

As Hearty White would say, Bless your heart, Linda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Stanley:

I echo Linda Lee's comment rtegarding 'Quick Takes'. Your take on modern life is just what the world needs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Michael 98145:

yes, "plague #7" as described in your program guide
Avatar 4:58pm TDK60:

Again, Fabio...please reconsider; the morning "glisteners" need your skeptical outlook.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Linda Lee:

Mister Dobalina! Hearty has two of those. Hope you mean the nice one. :-D
@Stanley ~ I chose to bug Fabio with an email as well. Can't hurt.
