Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

1986: while riding a tour bus in Spain, Roberto hands the driver a cassette of Scary Monsters to play on the sound system. We get halfway through It's No Game (Part 1) before THE MAN (actually a woman) vetoes the selection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Rich in Washington:

@ROberto: maybe it was the frantic narration that alarmed The Man/Woman.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Parq:

I'd forgotten what a great sound Bowie got on that Scary Monsters album. That came out at a very significant time in my life and it brings back strong memories. I gotta bring it out at home sometime soon.

Coincidentally, it was the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Lincoln Brigades. We toured battle sites with veterans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Parq:

Here's some skinny on Lewis. A quote: "Was he a con man, as some claim? A drug dealer, as others attest? An apparition? An alien visitor? A record collector hoax? Did he really have connections to the Duke Power fortune? Was he really involved with Christie Brinkley?"

Christie Brinkley?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Parq:

Interesting that the Lt/Atc page auto-suggests the Rodriguez album. A documentary about Lewis would be pretty cool, and would just incidentally send sales of "his" albums soaring.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm doctorjazz:
