Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Threemoons:

Tardy to the party but this is fantastic...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm David D:

Somewhat on the early side for this show. Glad you're enjoying the party!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Threemoons:

I know, Pseu announced it during her show, and I'm able to tune in from work today (hooray busted firewall) so I had to take advantage! :D
Avatar 3:58pm hilmar:

ich bin auch ungewöhnlich früh zugeschaltet...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Stanley:

Digging the steady beat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm doctorjazz:

Hey straphangers!
Avatar 4:02pm still b/p:

I would put that accordion in my space just as a pleasing-to-look-at-and-of-wonderful-character item.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm doctorjazz:

Cool, try to catch some between getting work done.
Avatar 4:03pm Listening Out There:

Wait...if this is not the archive...then what is it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm David D:

Hey everyone - glad you could make it now, before, or the future!
Avatar 4:09pm Sem:

Hello, David, Subway riders, standers, lie-ers down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm David D:

Greetings Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Webhamster Henry:

What fun!
Avatar 4:19pm northguineahills:

Of course it's a verb!

ie:

US: "Iraq, I'm going to freedom the shit out of ya!"
Avatar 4:23pm hilmar:

das hab ich gestern auch in aktuell gespielt...very nice...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm David D:

NGH: That is a good point!
Henry: Glad it comes through the airwaves...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Webhamster Henry:

Jerzy Kosinski ... we read it in High School!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Webhamster Henry:

I like the newness of the subjects! I'm a big Brecht/Eisler fan.

Got a #MeToo song yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm doctorjazz:

This is great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Webhamster Henry:

I've got two protest songs like this, but they are more in the marching band anthem school of parody.
Avatar 4:35pm northguineahills:

I miss the klezmer brunches at Orchard St's Tonic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm David D:

Henry: Send one over!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Threemoons:

NorthGuinea--ditto; alas only went once a zillion years ago...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Webhamster Henry:

This sounds good in Yiddish; a nice mesh with your usual eastern European covers of US pop songs!
Avatar 4:48pm northguineahills:

My bad, Tonic was on Norfolk, I lived there for my first few months in NYC, I should have remembered.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm doctorjazz:

Love the sound of live broadcasts of music (the audiophile nerd in me coming out).
Wish my Yiddish was better...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Webhamster Henry:

I just pretend it's SchwietserDüuetsch mispronounced.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm David D:

Glad it sounds good on the airwaves - they are a fantastic live band!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm doctorjazz:

It really does sound great! I love records/cds and all that, but these direct broadcasts just have an oomph that's hard to get on a recording.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm David D:

I've heard so many people describe Yiddish as sounding like their own German dialects - sort of a Rorschach test.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Stanley:

Wish Daniel was coming to Scotland
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm doctorjazz:

When will he be in the NY area? (come and go, may have missed it...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Webhamster Henry:

This music makes me want to read (or hear) the Anarchist's Convention (John Sayles; it was read at Symphony Space's Selected Shorts by Jerry Stiller www.youtube.com...)
Avatar 5:02pm hilmar:

absolutely great...jewish anarchist tradition is still alive...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm David D:

Doctorjazz: He mentioned being there sometime this year. I imagine it will be posted to his Facebook page or www.paintedbird.de.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm David D:

Stanley: You never know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Stanley:

David, I'll keep an eye out.
Henry, thanks for the link, I think I'll really enjoy that later.
Ali, your beautiful music lives on. Rest in peace.
Avatar 5:14pm northguineahills:

I'm really taking my lunch siestas later and later (don't actually nap). Just got back to the office.
Avatar 5:18pm northguineahills:

Always liked this Toure/Diabate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm David D:

It is good to get a break or quiet time even if it isn't a nap. Otherwise you might have a map-nap.
Avatar 5:23pm northguineahills:

@David: You don't even want to know the conceptual GIS dreams I already have. Taking a long break allows me to work longer hours. If all goes well, I can start to slim down to 40 hours and I can hire someone to help w/ the mapping (although we'd have to find a new office first, there's barely room for three people.)

Meic Stevens! Doug introduced me to him!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm David D:

Yes, thanks for the link Henry, that looks interesting. I'm just catching up upthread...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Webhamster Henry:

@Stanley and @David this story is just great, like a lot of John Sayles' work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Stanley:

thanks Henry - that John Sayles. The guy who wrote and directed Matewan, one of my all time movie greats.
Avatar 5:40pm northguineahills:

When I want to hurry the sunrise, I just fly east. (I usually want to delay the sunrise.
Avatar 5:40pm northguineahills:

Josef van Wissem still uses a lute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Stanley:

The mandolin is pretty much a lute that's played by many.
Avatar 5:44pm glenn:

matewan is great, but..... lone star is better.
Avatar 5:44pm Sem:

Sitting here, looking out into a rainy, windy night, transfixed by tonight's playlist. But this is my stop and so I say good night, David, and fellow Subway travelers. Hope to catch you all next time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm David D:

True about the mandolin - we just need more of them and all their lute fellows!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm David D:

Thanks Sem, enjoy your evening, rain and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Stanley:

Thanks Glenn, I'll put it on the list.
See ya Sem.
Avatar 5:48pm northguineahills:

You are far east (and north) sem, still plenty of daylight down in these here parts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm doctorjazz:

Like thie Bennie Maupin.
Avatar 5:56pm northguineahills:

(non-party affiliated), but I'm supposed to go to a meet-and-greet for Dem running for city council. And I just found out part of my program (here at work), decided to be contrary. Ack!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm David D:

Do you at least know and respect the candidate?
Avatar 6:01pm Mayuko:

Good evening, David and everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm doctorjazz:

And ths Bizottsag, very cool, whatever he's carrying on about!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm Webhamster Henry:

It's cool-daddyo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm David D:

Hey Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm doctorjazz:

One of my wife's cousins is running for House of Representatives in NJ, and I'M DOING A FUND RAISER! Crap! (how'd I get roped into this...he's be great, actually).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm David D:

Yes, the A.E. stands for Albert Einstein, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm doctorjazz:

Doesn't sound like the Grateful Dead...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm David D:

doctorjazz: Oops, played the wrong track!
Avatar 6:04pm northguineahills:

@David: I don't know her, but she seems to be a progressive African-American woman. My friends are hosting it at their house, so, I thought I'd at least give her my ear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Stanley:

I see my station's next. Before I get off, just want to say it's been a particularly enjoyable show tonight. Many thanks David. Bye all.
Avatar 6:07pm glenn:

hahaha.from the palmer report -
It turns out Trump violated campaign finance laws with the method he used for paying the $130,000 to Stormy Daniels. Now a criminal complaint has been filed against him by an activist group called Common Cause (link), and we’ve learned from past sex-and-hush-money scandals that this is where it gets ugly for him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm David D:

Thanks, Stanley - have a great night!
Avatar 6:09pm northguineahills:

Feelies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm David D:

Glenn: Sounds like someone's got something to hide.
Avatar 6:11pm glenn:

actually, it sounds like he was playing hide the salami with someone he oughtn't.
Avatar 6:14pm Listening Out There:

Still here. Good program t'day...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm doctorjazz:

Gotta run, thanks, as usual, David! Great sounds...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Webhamster Henry:

Now I want to see the Jégkrémbalett movie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Webhamster Henry:

Here's a little of it at least: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm David D:

Thanks for Listening Out There!
Avatar 6:22pm northguineahills:

I've heard many foreign language versions of "The Age of Aquarius" on WFMU lately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm David D:

Could it be... the dawning... ?
Avatar 6:23pm northguineahills:

Love the waterman, is that Aquaman.???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm David D:

Ur-Aquaman
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm David D:

I guess this is why I was thinking of Belgium before. Wires get crossed...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm David D:

And now the real Ur-Aquaman...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Webhamster Henry:

They could do all of Hair this way ... did they?
Avatar 6:55pm northguineahills:

Thanks David, I'm out. Great show!
Avatar 6:56pm northguineahills:

Oh, and never heard the Celia Cruz version.
Avatar 6:56pm Mayuko:

Thank you, David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm David D:

Thanks Henry, ngh, Mayuko and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm David D:

Henry: No, I'm afraid they probably didn't.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm Webhamster Henry:

NGH, go back to the archive as soon as you can! It really redeems that song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm Webhamster Henry:

Hear you next week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16am Stanley:

(Er spricht in seinem besten Deutsch, ohne hilfe von dem Internet)
Vielen Danken, David, fur das Musik und sehr interessant Schauspiele
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41am David D:
