Morning all. The Dave Earle Johnson new to me. Happens to be the names of our twin cats, Rose and Lily. Thanks Bob!

moodies!!
Avatar 9:20am annie:

in a dream i had last night, i was explaining to someone the selections of music you play; i was sure to mention NRBQ
  9:20am dan:

RIP Ray Thomas. Along with Ian Anderson and Chris Wood, the trio of excellent rock and roll flutists.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:20am Sem:

My, my, my, haven't heard this in some time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am melinda:

I like the Moodies
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:21am WilliamfromDumont:

Great choice. Ray Thomas R.I.P.
  9:22am queems:

they are finally getting inducted into the hall of fame. my mom is psyched
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am Hughie Considine:

Leave it to Bob to pull out a charming, low-key deep cut by the Moody Blues, about about whom I usually roll my eyes.
  9:23am dan:

I got to see the Moodies (sans Ray). They still put on an amazing show today.
  9:24am dan:

Please do a 1st song 1st album theme show Bob.
  9:24am 1whoknewcthulhu:

Ah--Spirit! Still love this album.
  9:26am dan:

Whatever happened to good musicianship in mainstream music? Bands like Coldplay, Maroon 5 etc.. got nothing on the Moodies and Spirit.
  9:27am DeebiefromSoCal:

Laura Nyro!!! Love her voice.
  9:28am dan:

For that matter, where are the female singers like Laura Nyro today?
  9:33am dan:

RnR HoF are a shitty organization. How can they induct Green Day before Chicago, The Moodies and Steve Miller?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am Hughie Considine:

Dan, look around. There are plenty of singers of both sexes doing great work and playing their instruments well.
Avatar 9:38am mauri:

Swell saturday Bob and gang. sounding goood!
  9:39am GListener MW:

“TC” here = Terry Chambers? Loving this song!!!
  9:39am dan:

@ Hughie

But they're not charting in the mainstream. You have to dig through endless YouTube files and Free Form shows to find it. Thank goodness for WFMU.
  9:40am pp:

amazing colin m is making a comeback, nice
  9:41am GListener MW:

Ah, Colin Moulding & Terry Chambers — and this is new! Awesome to hear these two collaborating after so long
  9:41am dan:

For a song from 1917, it sounds clear cut and digital
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:42am Uncle Michael:

My theory is that Colin and Terry are trying to coax Andy back.
  9:43am GListener MW:

(Just reading this review of the whole EP here: http://xtcbumperbookoffunforboysandgirls.blogspot.ca/2017/11/review-of-great-aspirations-by-tc-i-aka.html?m=1 )
  9:43am GListener MW:

@UncleMichael — Gawd, I’d be over the moon if that happened... one of my all time favorite (and, most-collected) bands
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:45am Uncle Michael:

Notice the lack of guitar on that TC&I track... I think they're saving a spot for him.
  9:51am GListener MW:

Very much so — that could be tracked in easily
  9:53am GListener MW:

if Andy passes, they could always loop in X’s John Doe and rename the new group “X, TC & I”.
  9:54am dan:

First by the piano I thought it was Eric Carmen, than the voice sounded like Cat Stevens at first.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:03am Uncle Michael:

I'm not suggesting that track needs guitar. I'm suggesting they're demonstrating that their band needs one.
  10:20am moe:

just purchased the TC and I cd from Pledge Music... autographed... always like XTC... even the Rundgren produced Skylarking...
  10:23am Ross T:

Skylarking is magnificent!

NRBQ. Spirit, Wild Honey Beach Boys, XTC, and lots of amazing things I never knew of...this is the best radio show.
  10:25am Ross T:

Not to mention Chris Bell....
  10:26am McGreivey:

Great show today. As always.
  10:26am davefromtoronto:

Avatar 10:28am Peteski:

I found the Mary Hopkins album on plastic-sealed vinyl in a Paperback Exchange (RIP) on the Upper East Side as a kid in the 80's. I also found a sealed Wonderwall Music!!!
Avatar 10:56am herb.nyc:

sorry, not listening now. but i see Fleetwood Mac was played. at the Lester Bangs play, he dissed the band. we laughed.
  10:57am Greg from ZONE 5:

Thanks as always, Bob!
  10:57am dan:

Mary Hopkin and Laura Nyro should have done an album together.
